Fellsing climbed off his riding goat cautiously. Because of his lacking height, the process of mounting and dismounting the oversized animal always unsettled him. Once he made it to the ground, he clapped the dirt off his hands and glanced around at the dark woods. It had taken them a few extra hours of travel to make it this far north under the light of the crescent moon. The spine elf sleepily bound his goat to the nearest tree and sank to the grass bed at his feet. "You take the first watch," he muttered, his speech faintly slurred. "You can do without a fire. Just keep an eye on the goats." Fellsing's eyes closed without his signal. Before long, the recipes of fleeting dreams merged together in his head. The goat beside Fellsing lowered its belly to the ground and followed suit with a mellow bleat. |

crius sighed a bit as he prepared for his watch, he didn't mind taking the first watch, because fellsign had taken that one the last time, but because of that and the traveling they had done, he was extra tired, but he decided not to complain. in his thoughts crius started to study what he had witnessed at the bonfire, it would be handy if he could make fire like that. but wasn't fire a concentration of heat, and wasn't heat produced during an explosion. and an explosion he could produce, so maybe if he could concentrate on the heat of that explosion he could create fire, and if he could create it by concentrating heat with his mana then he could keep it burning in a simmular way. but first he had to addapt the fundamentals, with his will he created a rune simular to the exploding one, but this time it was an altered version crius had placed on the air in his hand. as he opened his hand a fireball shot out of his hand into the air only to dissapear after traveling about one meter. crius understood his understanding of the spell was still weak, but even a weak fireball that could only travel a short distance could come in handy. looking up at the sky crius suddelyrealized it was already severall hours past midnight and his shift was already over. he nudged fellsing and spoke; "it's your turn i want to sleep now." |

Fellsing grunted as he was roused from the pleasures of deep sleep. Crius' form faded from a silhouette to a vague blur in the darkness as his eyes poorly adjusted to the dim light filtering through the trees. "Whatever," he grumbled. "If you dream of your mother, tell her I say hi." Fellsing sat up with his back against his goat's warm fur. His outfit was made of the same material, and it blended in well. The hours began to drift by. His mind followed a train of associations from night to magic to the call from the deep beyond. By that point, he was too restless to sit around in one place. He rose and trekked into the woods with the same squinting snarl as when he awakened. Behind him, his riding goat awakened and called after him with a bleat. He barely glanced back at the animal. Fellsing never intended to wander far from their unmarked campsite. The trees all looked the same in the dark, so finding it again would be difficult if he lost his bearings. He used the excuse of checking the perimeter to have a short walk, nothing more. The sound of a distant wolf's howl reminded him to head back to camp before long. When he returned to his seat beside his goat, he heard another cry to the moon - this time, accompanied by several others. Fellsing stared into the darkness of the forest, waiting for movement... Then he heard a man scream in agony and knew the wolves had found another target. Fellsing placed a barrier over Crius without waking him. At least he would be protected in case something wandered into their camp. Fellsing followed the faraway sound of the hunt with his knife gripped tightly in one hand. As he approached the border of another campsite, he knelt in the brush and carefully assessed the situation. There were two men - one with a pair of iron swords and another with a bronze hammer. Each had taken a fair amount of damage already as a pack of five wolves surrounded them. What had once been a strong campfire now smoldered quietly to one side, doing nothing to faze the wolves. Fellsing tried to cast a barrier over the man with the blades, but his aura simply didn't reach far enough. "And I thought we'd be done in by the ninetails," the swordsman laughed uneasily. His humor was lost on the man carrying a hammer, whose fine dress and proper posture suggested a life devoted to social affairs rather than the trials of travel. Three of the wolves rushed at the swordsman, piling onto him like the wild, hungry dogs they truly were. The remaining two tried for the dapper fellow beside him. By a stroke of fortune, only one managed to sink its fangs into his leg; the other leaped right into the head of the hammer and fell back with a whimper. The swordsman was in critical condition by the time he managed to shake the wolves off. Blood streamed down his face and chest where the animals had ripped him apart. Fellsing didn't move; alerting the wolves to his presence might condemn him to a similar fate. (Swordsman's HP: 4/35 Hammerman's HP: 14/25 Wolves' HP: 20, 20, 15, 15, 10 Fellsing's mana: 30/35) Spoiler: click to toggle

crius awoke as the howls and cries echoed through the night. when he didn't see fellsing around he feared the worst, he left the goats where they were, he knew they would stay there for a while, at least logn enough for crius and felsing to retrieve them should they live. from a distance he saw the campire and ran towards it, as he ran he drew his sword and charged the tip with a rune. thinking fellsing might be in danger he rushed into the opening and saw the situation. he was reluctened to admit it but he was glad fellsing wasn't here, still he couldn't just allow these men to die without trying to help. he charged the wolf closest to him and fired a ball of fire. the wolf was so obsesed with the bleeding swordsmen that he hadn't noticed crius' attack at all and it hit him right in the side, crius followed through with his attack and stabbed with his sword but the wolf had flown backwards so crius sword ddi'nt reach the wolf. the wolf quickly turned to his new attacker and leapt forward but crius had counted on that and leapt backwards himself. but he had been careless and lost sight of one of the wolves who had managed to bite him in the leg. (wolves' HP: 15, 20, 15, 15, 10 crius' shield: 3 left crius' mana: 35) sorry don't know how to do the damage role for wolf attacks dice of destiny

Fellsing swore under his breath when he spotted Crius on his way into the fray. He had planned to let the dying elves handle most of the work and then pick off any wolves which attempted to come after him next. This forced a divergence from the realm of the ideal, however. With a hand clasped over his heart, he imbued his body with a protective barrier. The familiar green light surrounded his form. "What luck!" cried the well-dressed gentleman with the hammer. "We're saved!" No sooner than he spoke did one of the wolves lunge at his throat. Its sharp teeth just barely missed their target, digging into his shoulder instead. The elf screamed in terror, swinging his hammer wildly. The wolf managed to leap off in time to avoid a brutal blow to the skull. Fellsing burst from the bushes and charged toward the wolf with his dagger gleaming in the light of his own aura. The wolf snarled and scurried off into the woods rather than allowing Fellsing to drive a dagger down its throat. Beside him, another wolf leaped at the swordsman, taking a bite out of his bony shin. The man collapsed to his knees as he struggled to fend the wolf off. Fellsing considered that he could have given the dying elf a barrier from such close range, but that would put Fellsing himself in greater danger. What's the fun in that, he wondered? crius was too busy fighting the wolves to notice fellsing step in. he slashed at the wolf that had been biting him but the wolf dodged the slash and bit him again. as crius bit on his teeth to avoid screaming when he felt the teeth sink in his flesh he stabbed sideways towards the second wolf that had been comming at him from the left. The swordsman brought one of his blades up to catch an oncoming wolf. The animal could do nothing to prevent the sword from cutting into its belly. Whining in pain, this one, too, retreated to the cover of the forest. The rest of the wolves growled at them and scampered off in unison. The swordsman's fortunate maneuver had clearly saved his life. "Thank you for aiding us!" said the finely dressed elf. The swordsman tossed one of his swords to the ground and lowered himself to a sitting position. With one hand, he checked a gash in his side. The fingers came back bloody. "That was close..." he drawled. Fellsing turned to walk away, preferring to avoid showers of gratitude if possible. The other elf lowered his hammer and approached Crius. "Are you traveling?" he asked the wood elf, brushing dirt off his clothes. The golden rings on the man's fingers showed his wealthy background - somewhat of a rarity among modern true elf society. Fellsing paid it no more mind than a glance. His goats were in danger by themselves. Spoiler: click to toggle

"we are, wich is why we have to go back to our camp now. i left our rides alone, and they are a bit fearless, to the point where they wouldn't run if the wolves attacked. if they weren't so usefull i might consider sellign them once we reach Eyr." crius turned away from the travelers and started walking after fellsing, he wasn't sure if leavign them wounded as they were was such a good idea but for now they were safe and the wolves would need some time to lick their wounds, so the goats were the only problem left. |

"Wait!" protested the gentleman with the hammer. He followed after Crius, apparently forgetting the swordsman covered in blood and grime. "If you're on your way to Eyr, I would like to accompany you!" Fellsing overheard the conversation, but he pushed the decision onto Crius' shoulders. His wood elf traveling companion was tolerable, but he couldn't guarantee the same for another random stranger. He continued through the woods until he reached their dark campsite. The goats were unharmed, thankfully, and the light of dawn had begun to trickle past the canopy above. Fellsing slid his fingers behind his riding goat's ear, scratching an itch the goat couldn't reach. It gave a bleat of satisfaction and dipped its head to allow the attention to continue. |

crius stopped and turned around, with one hand he stopped the hammerman and with his otherhe pointed towards the swordsman. "your friend could use your help. if the both of you want to ride with us i won't mind. but i came here traveling with the spine, and the travel code states you don't abandon your travel compagnions unless you are at your destination." with that said crius turned back around and quickened his pace to catch up with fellsing. once he arrived at the goats he woke his one and turned to fellsing. "if the hammerhead joins without his friend, ignore him." |
