It wasn't so bad, this river. While the ocean was obviously her prime choice, the river did fantastically for allowing her to stretch out and feel a little bit more comfortable in the skin she was given. Though that skin was still held at bay, thanks to the elixir's effects. No less, it was still nice even to just kick her legs in the water, enjoy the feel of a more natural ecosystem to her. And oh, to not have to wear clothes! She really didn't have any excuse to dislike clothes themselves, though the surface dwellers' choice of fabrics left something to be desired, (Oh, but if she had ever felt silk!), but the delicacy for which she handled the peculiar jacket she had in her care made it seem as if she were the most meticulous person there could be regarding them. She had allowed herself to relax in the water only after she had thoroughly scrubbed down Richard's garb, getting it clean enough to satisfy her conscience in knowing that it was being well taken care of, and then laying it out carefully and evenly, leaving it in stark contrast to the sloppy way she had discarded the rest of her outfit in a pile next to it. Alek counted the drops she had remaining for what was at least the sixth or seventh time before depositing them into the bag that now propped itself against the clothes wad she had abandoned. "I am eager to get moving, but this water feels so good..." Leaning back to float idly on the surface, she propped the back of her head up with her arms, watching the stars come out one at a time before closing her eyes. She debated asking her spine elf companion a question or two but pulled them back in, her lack of an invasive nature proving to leave her quieter than she might have been otherwise. |

Through the thicket of threes and bushes, Demier stayed just far enough away from the gates entering the city, that it was very unlikely a guard would see him. Even then, it was dark, and no guard would leave his gate post after the sun set. If they did, anyone would try to run in to the town. Flan, Demier's beloved bird was tied to a tree hundreds of feet away. Demier hadn't counted exactly, but the bird had already nestled down into the brush and had curled up next to the roots of a tree. Not a single sane person would approach the bird, knowing what it was, so the thought of leaving her behind wasn't too troubling. She would wait for her master, no matter what. But, in the night, the bird was simply a shadow, sleeping away the hours. For hours, Demier scouted the area, searching for someone who might be able to help him get some food in his stomach, or even some spare coin before he left the Lydina kingdom again. Patiently, the elf waited, watching women, men, elves, beast men, and many other types of people freely walk in and out of the town. He took some comfort in knowing the ugliest creatures were as unfortunate as he was, but Demier knew the only reason he was locked out of the town, was his own fault. Suddenly, the purple skin and green hair of a merkin caught Demier's eyes. They grew wide, especially when he saw he walking with a spine elf. "Now, what do we have here?" The elf asked aloud to no one, scratching the stubble on his chin. With care, he moved through the woods, trying not to be spotted. Even with the slight amount of light still out, he couldn't take too many chances. Watching the merkin slide herself onto the side of the river made Demier start to drool. She was a prize, and he could feel confidence beaming from inside this girl. The sound of her bangles dancing on her wrists, and wringing in the spring air caused the elf's ears to jingle. She wanted attention, and when the mermaid pulled out a handful of coins, and counted them multiple times, he had made up his mind. This girl would be his new good luck charm. Popping sounds exploded from Demier's knees, mostly the left. After rubbing them, just for a moment, he began making his move, and emerged from the forest. Without another thought he walked straight toward Aleksandra. "Excuse me miss." Demier said in his deep voice while he knelt down. He was obviously a giant, compared to the merkin and spine elf. "I could help but admire you from the woods, and wanted to ask if I could join you here, if anything. Like you, it seems, I am also not permitted inside the city." Demier looked at both of the women, but gave a very warm smile to Alek. "My name is Demier, of Eyr." The tattoo across his face moved as his smile grew wider. "And the reason I came over was to ask for yours." He said, nodding at the merkin. |

The voice had caught her in the way a man's approach typically caught her attention, leaving her ears to focus down the source while her body slid into the motions of the well-to-do admirer, ever to seem as if she were waiting for the approach itself. The body was what brought her closest to letting slip her cool demeanor. The substantial difference between their sizes, the pointed ears, and the racial similarities giving her the briefest reaction, though what could be seen on the surface was that of a carefully played out image of being more than impressed by what she saw, her eyes catching his immediately after she had turned around, the smile still languidly stretched across her face. "Well hello, Demier of Eyr. Please, do join us. I am Aleksandra of the oceans." A little mystery, a little charm, confidence but not dominance. Yes, the game was already well under way. She brushed a wet strip of hair away from her face, making sure that the fact she was clothed in...nothing, would not go unnoticed. "I daresay, a male influence I think is exactly what we are needing around here right now..."

"Well, I can surely supply some testosterone, Miss Aleksandra." Demier said as he pulled off his leather gloves, and then removed his boots. If he was going to pretend like he was relaxing, why not just do it? With one bare hand, the elf took a scoop of water and slid it through his hair. The feeling was welcoming, and probably helped clean some of the dirt off of Demier's face, but it was too dark to tell. "So, what is a woman of class, such as yourself, sitting outside the city walls with no clothes?" Demier said, looking over Aleksandra. He didn't bother trying to hide anything. If the girl was comfortable enough to offer him such a warm welcome, she must have wanted him to look. He wasn't too disappointed with what he saw, either. He did though, forget to take any notice of Nyull. Spines were too short for his taste, and their pale skin made him feel a little sick. So in stead, the elf focused on the merkin alone. |

Alek offered a small laugh in response, waving her left hand absently towards the pile of clothes she had, in retrospect, wished she had folded up a bit better. Ah well. There was a reason she wasn't anyone's wife. "Do not be silly, Demier of Eyr! Of course I have clothes, but on such a nice night with so much...possibility, would you not agree that it would be so much nicer to just...go without?" She ran her fingers delicately against the water, stroking it like a lover itself though her eye contact stayed fixed on him. |

"My my, such a naughty thing you are." Demier said, already catching onto the mer's game. He wouldn't let her win so easy though. "But you misread me. I have no money." He said with a shrug. "At least none on me. It is all in the city." With that, the elf looked up at the stone wall, separating him from his home. Just a few miles north, his home was calling for him. And the money under his bed. "Until I get that," Demier started, turning back to Aleksandra with longing in his eyes. "it doesn't seem like I can provide you much else than my company." |

"Oh, you can rest assured knowing that I can tally running credit." She gave him a wink, and then, curiousity getting the better of her, she turned to glance at the city wall, only briefly before turning back to him. "What invisible force keeps you from walking on in there for it, I wonder?" Alek ran down the possibilities in her head quickly, the most logical popping to her mind being that he probably had a wife. Hmm, perhaps he had already been caught once, and now he was stuck out in the open? Poor bastard. He probably needed a freebie, anyways. "Either way, I am... accommodating." |

Demier was shocked when the girl told him that she would just let him slide free. It was definitely his night, and he would keep the streak going. "What keeps me out? I am a criminal." He said, with a terrible smile. "We should keep it at that." Demier finished, putting a hand on his stomach. "What I could use more right now, is food. Can you accommodate that?" Demier said with a frown. If he could get free food, and a little bang, it wouldn't be a bad day at all. Or month for that matter. |

Criminal? Hungry? Oh yeah. This guy got busted, and by the sound of it, busted good. With a small laugh and a shake of her head, Alek reached over for her bag, pushing it over to him invitingly. There wasn't too much, but there was some food easy to be kept on traveling, along with the rest of the bread she had kept. Her bleeding heart would let him eat it all if he wanted, and he wouldn't hear word one of a complaint. After all, she felt bad whenever an act such as this ended up ruining a relationship. "Eat what you desire." |

It was too good to be true. In all of Demier's life, he had been lucky with women, but this was incredible. He assumed that being a rebel made him more attractive, and rode with it. He took a few slices of bread and small things, like jerky, and a piece of fruit. He wanted to at least stay full, and eat well. "Generous." Demier admitted, setting the food on his right thigh. "What is the catch?" He laughed, taking a bit of bread. |
