We've moved! If you're looking for a place to roleplay, check out a more recent venture: the Collective Isles.
It's another play-by-post forum roleplay like this one. The game is set in a multiverse full of life, magic, adventure, and its own brand of chaos. Players can even submit applications for their own worlds, adding to the scope of the setting.
There's no limit to character advancement; as long as you continue to participate, your character will learn and grow. Character development and interaction are as important to our community as the epic adventures which await. We're welcoming roleplayers of all experience levels, including first-timers.

| Welcome to Alpha Sanctuary! This is a roleplaying forum set in a fantasy world called Sanctuary. Players create their own characters, go on adventures, and participate in an overarching story which gradually shapes the world around them. If you think you might be interested, read through some of our content and submit a character application for review. We would love to have you! Before submitting your application, please register an account. If you're not sure what your character name is going to be, feel free to use something else until you submit your application. At that time, let us know you'd like to change your name, and we'll accommodate you. Using the same name for your account and character makes reading in-character threads much easier, so it's strongly encouraged. Refer to the newcomer's guide for help getting started. Enjoy your stay! |

She didn't know how long she had been running, just that she wouldn't stop until she couldn't hear any of the commotion any longer. After reaching a distance she thought was safe, she began to slow down, mind still racing from what had just happened. The hatred towards the True Elf, the betrayal from the girl she thought was her friend, and the situation she now found herself in, alone and once again without any sort of supplies. She couldn't go back; to turn around and try and recover what was left behind would certainly lead to her capture. Furthermore, she wouldn't be able to carry them all by hers- she tripped. Having spaced out while running in order to asses the situation, she lost focus on her footing, tripped on a root, and now found herself face down in the woods. Stupid, stupid stupid stupid. She'd been nothing but useless since leaving, giving money to kidnappers, constantly failing at her role as some sort of guardian, and now betrayed and alone. The spine elf let out a small sigh as she pulled herself back up, brushing the dirt and debris off of her tunic. "That didn't work... now how do I fix this?" the girl murmured to herself as she sat, repeating the old mantra she had been taught. She sat in silence for awhile, still and tranquil as if she were a part of the tree which had just tripped her. After a while of this she slowly stood and began to unclip her armor, letting it sloppily fall down to the ground piece by piece. After stripping down to just her tunic and leggings, she drew her sword and held it at the ready. The wound on her back was still rather painful, but it would serve well in helping her do this in less than perfect circumstances. It was time to try reexamine herself. She stood with the sword aloft for awhile before swinging it downwards. She started to run through the motions she had been taught through training, fighting invisible dummies between the trees. As it stood, she was weak. She had been overconfident in her own abilities and had never compensated enough for her opponents. She could see the elf easily dodge her, she could hear the sword futilely bouncing off of the guard's armor and worst of all... she could still feel herself loses her mind to anger. As if to reenforce this, she tripped once more on a root, this time able to twist and fall flat on her ass. "I'm losing focus..." she said through her exasperation as she rubbed the pain, "I need to lose myself when fighting... but not to emotion, I need to just stop... thinking so much..." she said before slowly standing and retaking position. Despite the pain from her back, it felt good to just be training again, without the stress of escape, without the anger that invoked the fight, and without that silly girl yelling to try and fight steel with words. She stopped, looking down a bit. The endearing thought of this person she had tried to protect caused the pain of betrayal to seep in once more. She was all alone. "So what if I'm alone..." she mused to herself, "I still know where they're going... and I promised that man..." That's right. If she gave up now she would be the traitor, bad circumstances or no. She gave a small nod as she made up her mind to continue, even if she had to do it at the mer's reluctance. She would train more in the evening, but for now it would be best to start the course. After taking a moment to strap on her armor once more, she began walking east, towards the Spine. She wouldn't likely catch up to that damned bird, but that was for the best. She would need time to train up so that should things get hairy again she'd be able to properly hold her ground. |
