Welcome to Alpha Sanctuary!

This is a roleplaying forum set in a fantasy world called Sanctuary. Players create their own characters, go on adventures, and participate in an overarching story which gradually shapes the world around them. If you think you might be interested, read through some of our content and submit a character application for review. We would love to have you!

Demier Eleos

Demier had forced Flan to fly for a considerably large portion of the night. By the time he even considered stopping, the sun had nearly finished rising. The ride had also been very silent after a long argument about leaving Nyull, the spine elf, behind. Demier grimaced, remembering the loss of his first aid kit.

"Are you still mad?" The elf finally asked. He had assumed that Aleksandra was giving him the silent treatment, and hadn't tried to say anything to snap her out of it. He found letting women internally battle with their emotions kept him out of the most trouble. "Like I said, I can't afford to get caught, so I had to get out off there. Sorry for leaving that spine."

"Elf," Alek finished, glaring off into the distance and refusing to look at him. "Spine elf, actually. Elf like you," she retorted, shaking her head. To say that she was angry over the abandonment was a bit of an understatement, but more than feeling angry, she was feeling wretched about herself. The stupid bird had been low enough to the ground; sure the mer was scared of even that short of a fall, but it wouldn't have killed her. At that moment, though, it sure had felt like it would. She had barely been on the land, much less in the air. It was something she was not at all feeling secure with.

Still, she felt even stupider for assuming that her companion of now would pick up the spine elf on nothing but her own request. The idiocy of the assumption left her wondering whether or not she could ever consider herself owning any rights to the measure of intelligence again. And now Nyull was either captured or on the run, neither of which was ideal for someone who, albeit a bit blade-happy, had no less played savior to Alek in her time of need.

A jacket. She had actually gambled the possibility of leaving Nyull behind for that jacket. And what was worse was that she had lost very harshly. She didn't know what that made her. How could she even consider now the idea that the one who had sold her for money had been bad when she had actually let herself be flown off for a jacket? Part of her jumped to her own defense readily, eagerly shooting off the knowledge that she hadn't done so intentionally; she had honest and pure thought that Demier of Eyr would pick up the little spine elf. But the other part of her threw that aside, angrily rubbing it into her face that she had, intentionally or not, left her partner to fend for herself.

"I need water," the mer scowled, watching the sun rise while making damn sure he would know she was still thoroughly pissed off. "I need water, and then I need to find some way to be able to get my landlegs back so that I may try to make sure that Nyull is okay." How she was going to do that, of course, was a complete and thorough mystery to her. She had no navigational skills outside of the ocean, and she knew the layout of this land about as thoroughly as she might have known the inner workings of the bird she was currently situated on. To attempt to get the true elf to lead her back was something that would surely get her laughed at, but she didn't know what else she could do at this point. Bluffing was literally the only thing she had left in her arsenal.

Demier Eleos

"Well, can you wait until we pass Arwood Glen? Guards patrol around here a lot, and I wouldn't want us to get caught now." Demier tried to convince the mer, pulling tight on Flan's reins and directing her to the left. "And about the spine." He said, once they were flying straight again. "It attacked me, how was I supposed to trust her?" He shrugged, focusing hard on the land below them.

"I won't help you loo for her though. I need to get to Eyr and find Elita." Demier finished, not entirely sure if he could convince the mer to play by his rules much longer.

"It is within the focus of your desire whether or not you wish for me to return to my normal form in the air or in the water," she scowled, "though I doubt I will be very talented at keeping balance on your bird when I have no legs to keep myself upright." Not to say she wouldn't do it; if there was one thing Alek knew for sure she wasn't going to do, it was going to be letting herself fall. If she had to dangle from the bird's legs, that was what was going to happen.

"You speak as if she is not one of your kind. Your bird attacked me, but I am trusting it enough to sit on its back in the air..." With this comment she grew silent, brooding to herself about the loss of her horse who, despite their rough start, seemed to be an entity she actually missed. Goodness, she hadn't realized how she felt one of her friendships might still be salvageable. The mer suddenly wanted to talk to her horse, to see if maybe Cheilinus could still be a friend... With a firm shake of her head, she wrenched herself back into the here and now, leaning forward only slightly to poke the true elf in the back, simply because she had not known whether or not she might have slipped into one of her time-defying space-outs and needed to get his attention. "Why are you so eager to find your sister? If it has been a while, and she is keeping away from you, then do you not think it is better to...how do you say...let the dogs that are sleeping continue to sleep?" <- Idiom win right there.

Demier Eleos

Up until mention of her legs merging back into a tail fin, Demier had entirely forgotten about the merkin's land limitations. "Crap." He grumbled, now focusing rather on getting the girl some help. He had no money, and was surely incapable of sneaking into Arwood Glen. Especially after he had heard that a bounty hunter and their companions had just caused some trouble in the area.

When Aleksandra gave Demier a hard poke in the back, he came back to reality. "Alright. Let's find you something to float around in while I try and take care of your leg problem. Then we can keep chasing after Elita, because she has my money. Like I said." Demier ran on, then talking about how difficult it would be to obtain an elixir, or to even get into a town. He knew if Aleksandra had legs she could go right ahead and take care of herself, but that wasn't the case.

It didn't take the elf long to find somewhere to stop. Fresh water rivers often flowed down the mountains, and made small ponds, lakes and even waterfalls all around the area. He gracefully directed the bird back down to the surface and made a smooth landing not far from a flowing river. "Is this good enough to rest in for a while?" Demier asked. Even if it wasn't, he wouldn't take her anywhere else, seeing as how there wasn't much of anywhere else to go.

"It will work perfectly. It is very wet." Alek climbed quickly off of the bird, wincing as her feet made contact once more with the ground, reminding her how much of a beating they had taken on that rough forest floor. Well, that would be gone soon... "You owe me my jacket now," she reminded him, quickly reuniting with the water and sighing in relief as she felt her body immediately relax. It wouldn't be long before she could relax in her own form again... "You should not be lying about it again!" she warned.

Demier Eleos

Demier shrugged and began searching through his personal belongings. When he found the jacket, hidden beneath some of his own clothes, he pulled it out and waved it in the air. "Don't you want me to hold onto it? It is a nice white coat, that if you carry around like you were, will get filthy." He tried to convince her to let him hold onto it a little longer. The promise of giving her the jacket back meant he could possibly lose a companion, and it was nice to talk with someone after being alone.

The jacket was surely too small for a true elf's long arms, broad shoulders and much longer torso; but Demier didn't take any of that into account. He decided, just for fun, he would try it on. He figured this way, if he wanted to keep it and mess around a little longer, it would be more fun while wearing the jacket on his own back. His arm slid through the left sleeve, and immediately the sound of stitches popping lose and thread breaking echoed through the woods.

"Oops." Demier sighed, pulling the torn arm of the jacket clear off from the garment. "Sorry about that. Looks like the sleeve ripped."

It didn't take her a fraction of a second to respond, though it felt infinitely longer to the mer, the simple tear in the sleeve feeling more like time itself had torn right down its center. Alek was out of the water and storming him before she lost the opportunity to do so, her eyes brimming over with the most pissed off tears she could have ever imagined crying, and with the white hot fury of a woman who had literally just lost her prized jacket (go figure), those little fists went flying, her words an incoherent match for them as she repeated over and over again in her head and in words just how much she hated him, how much she wanted him to feel the shit she was going through, and how sorry she wished she could make him. Alek didn't realize how seriously her heart took such matters, either. In a clearer state, she might have noticed the subtle strangeness she felt in doing so.

Demier Eleos

In just seconds, Demier went from being the cocky and giggling man he was, to having a seizure and falling off of his bird. There was no way that he was prepared, and no way did he expect such a strong surge of energy from the merkin. Drool seeped from the corner of his shaking lips while the white jacket that was still stuck to his body began picking up dirt and collecting grass stains.

There was pain in every nerve, and even though Demier could tell that the pain in each one was just barely there, the combination of all of his nerves shaking and biting was something even he couldn't fight off, or just pretend wasn't there. Especially while being of the male gender.

The sound of Demier starting to choke on his own saliva was the only sound in their section of the forest. Flan stared at her master, examining him thoroughly before turning and squawking at Aleksandra, maybe asking for help.

Alek put two defiant fists on her hips, glaring at him in astonishment that he would dare make fun of her even after all of this! "Do laugh it up! I am not going to fall for your mean tricks! I know well and good that I did not hit you very hard, so do not make fun of me!!" The uneasiness in her stomach only increased as his 'antics' did not show signs of letting up. She crouched down, huddling on her knees and trying to get a better look at his face. "Hey! Did you not hear me? Stop being ridiculous!"

The mer looked around anxiously when the elf didn't let up, and finally she started trying to pull his head onto her lap, working to try to run her fingers through his hair in hopes of calming him down some. Alek had no idea what malady this was, and her attempts at trying to remain calm were about to fail her fast. "Demier of Eyr, you will be alright, I promise!" she tried to assure him, as if he would even be able to hear her in the wretched state he was in! She reached with a finger to press at his throat, hoping to find any means of which he might be choking, or having some kind of obstruction that was causing some sort of shock. Her will shifted from desiring such angry results to that of a much more benevolent wish for him to be well.
