February 2012, 02:30 I demand an alternate universe where L picked up the deathnote instead. im not sure if he would let his curiosity force him to try it out, even if he knew it works he wouldnt use it in any way and probably discarded it i saw the anime only, it was very goo, pretty epic and interesting, great moral debates, the middle section was boring but it came back to its former glory what i dont like, is that instead of (what i thought it would be) Light struggling to create an ideal world because of some flaws in logic (like to create perfect world you have to abandon some of your basic) it was about Light running away from being caught - still very very good, my fav person from whole anime is not L or Light by the way it is second Kira (guy with glasses) and his flashback episode was the best from Death Note i like DN for several things but his view on the world and violence, how crimes are forming up since childhood and his view on how to solve this was great, then he was NOTICED by a god and given power... brilliant! also i liked how he was able to do exactly what Light wanted they were like soul mates - perfect Edited by spit, Saturday, 25. Posts: 2,251 Group: Moderators Member #7 Joined: 18 February 2012 Gender Male	im talking about curiosity if you found DN would you believe it? obviously not.. would you try it to be sure? of course not... you speak about the potential you have as it s user - i think i would have used it smilarly to Light, but im much more paranoid and i would be very careful, i never cut off my escape route and rather sacrifice effectivity of the process greatly just to keep it open similarly, wouldnt kill just any criminal i would have researched them thouroughly (this would be a big problem in my ultimate goal), at first id be like Lelouch and tested the powers, Light was quite convinient with this (cost him greatly)

It's just personal values. Although what I would do first is investigate on the existence of Deathnotes and Shinigami world. Curiousity first.

The primary difference between L and Light, in my mind, is that killing is too much for L, and not for Light. Other than that, both have this ruthless tendency to use whatever means are necessary to attain their goals. Sure, L's goals might be more 'noble', but remember that Light wasn't just out for power, he honestly thought he was making the world a better place (much like Hitler, really). I think this is one of the attractions of Death Note - the 'no heroes, only lesser villains' kind of morality. If I had a Death Note, I might possibly try it out for curiosity, but I doubt I'd go any further than that. Of course, some say that it corrupts, and that Light wouldn't have been so 'evil' if he had never discovered this thing.

Light was so lucky to meet her as he did, lol. But Light shows small signs of compassion throughout the series - he went on a date with this one random girl early on (that was when the busjacking happened) and I thought he treated her fairly well. He also shows at least some care for his family (particularly his sister), and he seems to genuinely resent Near trying to take L's place because he truly believes Near isn't deserving of it. So I never hated Light throughout the series. But I do have a strong bias towards intellectual characters, so make of it what you will.

What would such a world be like? I hate N as a character and his win over Light was a little iffy. @HK, the story did go (a little bit) into what such a world would be like. See beginning of second arc. Crime has dropped significantly and many countries have explicitly declared support for Kira. He even gets his own news channel, lol.
