That sucks that the new gov. cut your group's funding, there's quite the war between the public-government and private sectors, with the world economic mess... (how much is your Australia having an economic mess, or is it not having an economic mess like the rest of the world is?)

leh, what are the things you do for fun?
also where does your nick come from?
Fun? What's that?

Nick? My user name?
It was what I had to choose many years ago, when I signed up for web mail.

It was about a year after the election before they were able to change the contracts.

It wasn't actually directed at us specifically.
My ex-employer received funding from another organisation and they had their funding cut.
They got funding for NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) but not for ACE (Adult Community Education).

We sell "dirt" to China, so if you work in mining you are doing well, most other sectors are slow (manufacturing is dying - being "offshored").

According to the figures, we are actually doing really well compared to other Western Economies (low unemployment, reasonable interest rates, low inflation).

Here's a question:

do you aussies, consider yourself to be westerners or easterners?

(as here in the U.S., we consider our U.S.' west coast, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii to be the edge of the "West", lol. Meaning that Australia is considered by us, the U.S., to be a part of the East, of Asia, with your continent and East Russia-Siberia being the edge of the "East", lol)

--------------

Non-geographically, we do consider australia to be very western, very conservative too (HK cheers), as your President-P.M. red-haired lady is fkn sexyawesome (way more than Skele is, hehe), she kicks a$$. Can we switch, you take Obama and we take her? :D :D :D

my mom has this very conservative lady friend, who sent my mom who sent it to me, something that your red-haired lady P.M.-Pres said, but I don't ahve it now... but in essense this was the speech:

"If you muslims don't like our culture, our laws, our society, our views, then WTF are you doing here??, get the F'k out of our country!"

That's an interesting question.

For many years, we've been considered the 51st state of the US (i.e. we normally do whatever our politicians think will please your politicians).
Before WWII, we were loyal Colonial Lackeys (the Queen is still technically our Head of State).

I would say that most people consider us to be a Western Power.
Power may be overstating it though. :D

Gillard is a so-called "Leftist" like Obama.
I say so-called, because they suck up to Big Business (almost as hard as the Opposition).
The Government has very few Left Wing policies (IMO).

They have feeble political skills (I'm not saying they are running the country badly though).
I don't know how any of them managed to become politicians (they seem to lack the basic skills required).
As a result the Opposition, which has no policies whatsoever, is about 20 percentage points ahead in the opinion polls.

"Tough Johnny" was a "Rightist" like "Dubyah".

how about geogrpahically ?

(good to know, your country is still conservative and pro-U.S. or at least pro-appeasing-the U.S., lol)

--------

also, now I know why Obama the RETARDED thinks we have 58 states.... we're *STILL TO THIS DAY* secretly enslaving your country imperialistically !!!!!!! lolololololol :D :D :D :D :D :D

laughs, don't you know, politicians are not selected based upon their skills to manage a country, instead, they're selected via being the popular super-lawyer lying-super rich high school prom DF jock and bimbo kings and queens, as our elections is fkn american idol obsession contests of our current liberalized generation ("Milleniumers" - I think is the term), sighs. Well Ronald Reagan was a film star.

Still that is one of my standard gripes about all modern society, "Style over Substance".

It doesn't matter if you can do the job, as long as you look like you can do it. :(

The person who talks the loudest and with the most conviction wins the day (in general).
Unfortunately the insane are usually the best at this. :(

In "Forbidden Planet" (1956), Dr Morbius made a crack about it.
"It's all right, sir. A commanding officer doesn't need brains. Just a good loud voice, huh?"

IMO, an excellent movie.
I posted a clip of the The Monster fight from "Forbidden Planet" in this thread:
Favourite film and television clips

D'oh!
I forgot to include it in my list.

Reagan was a leftist, even the stupid idea of prisons warehousing vast numbers of people without parole was a leftist idea if you think about it properly.

He voted in favour of abortion as a state governer and later appointed a 'pro-choice' supreme judge, he allowed the rise of the neocons (and their leftist obsession with human rights), supported an amnesty for illegal immigrants and all the rest of it paleocons want to brush under the carpet.

People like Reagan, Rothbard and Goldwater are why there's fuck all conservatism around in America today. Its the same here in England thanks to Thatcherism, the Tories used to have people like Enoch Powell, now they have self-admitted liberals like David Cameron and that baby killer Boris Johnsson.

You can't have conservatism where there's usury and corporate monopolies.

Someone posted this ages ago on a forum, to wake up so-called 'conservatives'.

Quote:

Liberals are for anti-racism, multiculturalism, and government handouts for racial minorities. Conservatives are for anti-racism, multiculturalism, and government handouts for multinational corporations. No wonder Blacks and Hispanics vote overwhelmingly Democrat. It makes sense for them to do so.

Conservatism is failure. Do you realize how silly you people look when you attack racialism? When racialists controlled America, there was no abortion, third world immigration, gay marriage, civil unions, feminism, pornography industry, divorce, affirmative action, war on Christmas, etc. The expressivist freak show pop culture was still in the future. The Church had a good ride. This was paradise from a paleo perspective. All of these sordid developments in our culture have coincided with the rise of conservatism and the demise of white racialism - why?

A people who are ashamed of their own racial and ethnic identity, who sympathize with aliens over their own kin, are degenerate. Those who have been perverted in such a way are not going to defend the unborn. They certainly aren’t going to summon the will to reinforce the boundaries of their decomposing culture.

Homosexuals now parade in the streets of America. Women visit their abortionist like their local dentist. Insane neocon warmongers have control of our foreign policy. The Southwest looks more like Mexico every day.

Here you are attacking us. Think about it.

I don't "Hulk Out", if that's what you mean.

Back in the 80s, I used to collect Marvel comics (Avengers, FF, Silver Surfer, Spiderman, X-men and even some Hulk issues).

I chose it, because after about a dozen failed attempts to generate a valid user name, I decided to just accept one of the suggestions the site offered.

It's called "Hungry Jack's" here in South Australia,
Don't ask me why (it's called "Burger King" in other states).

That picture was taken in a food court (City Cross Arcade in Adelaide).

My hair has gone grey down the sides (a little like Reed Richards). :D
