According to reports, Madonna and Sting are planning a duet at the London Live 8 gig.

Apparently they’re toying with performing John Lennon's Imagine at Hyde Park on July 2.

"They have had a discussion about performing a cover version.

"They thought about a Beatles song, or maybe Imagine. Madonna sang it on her Re-Invention tour," a so-called source blabbed to the Sun.

Sting is expected to sing his solo guff earlier on and then Madonna will belt a few out before they team up in the evening for a heart-warming duet and no doubt a spot of yoga.

According to the paper, Madge had to consult her Rabbi adviser before saying yes to the charity event. So we guess he was all for it.

Meanwhile, The Who has reportedly asked Bob Geldolf to squeeze them onto the line-up and there’s a rumour that Robbie Williams will perform with ex-Guns 'n' Roses guitarist Slash.

They can compare dodgy tattoos while Sting and Madge see who can stand on their head for the longest.
Megastar

 Since when does Mandonna ever have to consult anyone for anything?

On another note, Sting + Mandonna = Hot Mess!

Wow! I'd give anything to smack Bob Geldof.

When oh when is Madonna going to stop mutilating John Lennon's "Imagine?" While I don't even agree with all the sentiments in that song or its underlying world view (though it has one or two good points in it), it is a classic of sorts none-the-less, originally performed (and I assume written by?) John Lennon, a man who had genuine musical ability.

For The Venereal Girl to keep doing an off-key cover of it is just disrespectful.

Maybe Sting will compensate by singing so loudly he'll drown out Madonna's voice.

I guess anytime Madonna wants to appear at a charity type event, she'll just keep dragging 'Imagine' out?

Couldn't she at least get one of her musically inclined ex boyfriends, such as Steve Bray, to write a new feel-good, "kum bah yah" kind of song? Why doesn't she trot out her own, old 1986 song "Love Makes The World Go 'Round?'

Oh, and I had the same thought as you, Anna (I love the name "Anna," btw, I've always thought it was very pretty):

My thoughts exactly! Her supporters always say what an "in-charge" and strong person she is, she always calls all the shots in her life and career, etc., but here she is waiting for permission from her spiritual advisor before she can accept an invitation to appear on a show? :wth:

I would have thought that a "trendsetter" like Madge would "write" her own song instead of opting for a classic. I personally love the Beatles and am totally disgusted that the no talent b***h wants to crucify one of their songs. What's the deal with Sting? Guess I'll have to stop respecting him as a musician.

Thanks!

I am still clueless about that whole "spiritual advisor" mumbo jumbo. Mandonna has always been and always will be an oppurtunist.

Her fans are constantly in denial.

*in a Valley Girl voice* Covers are soooo in this year.

Sting... I don't know. He has always been lame in my book. I can't stand his wife Trudie (sp?).

When Sting was in the Police - and back in the early 1980s - I think he was okay. The Police was a respectable band.

Somewhere around the mid or late 1990s, he sort of turned in to a bit of a wuss, though some of his songs even now are okay, IMHO. Anyway, why I'm posting -

This is from fan site madonnalicious:

UK TV show GMTV showed a small interview with Madonna as she arrived at the UNICEF party yesterday in New York City to celebrate the launch of Lotsa de Casha. The clip also showed footage of Madonna at the Border book signing.

In the interview Madonna confirmed that she was NOT performing a duet with Sting at the finale at Live 8 as she 'I'm not staying that late!' and that she was performing around the middle of the show, but that the running order had not been finalised. She also said she was looking forward to seeing Coldplay perform as well at the show. ....

Don't know why, but Sting seems hell bent on making sure people know he's not singing with Man-donna at Live 8. Wonder why? :ask:

As for this comnent by Sting: "There'll be footage of the world's leaders playing on screens and I've changed the words to 'We'll be watching you'."

Don't bother putting George W. Bush's photo up, Sting; the United States has given away more money and more food to poor nations (including Africa) than just about any other nation, if I'm not mistaken. (It's in poor taste to politicize this thing anyway.)

Sting: I'm Not Singing With Madonna
Sting: 'I'm not singing with Madonna at Live 8'
  • Superstar STING has rubbished reports he is performing a duet with Madonna at the London leg of Live 8 tomorrow (02JUL05) in Hyde Park.

The English rocker, 53, is far too busy concentrating on performing a new version of his haunting hit EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE to worry about working alongside the pop queen.

He says, "There was a rumour that I was to do a duet with Madonna but it's completely untrue.

"I don't know where that came from. I'm singing three songs, the main one being Every Breath You Take.

"There'll be footage of the world's leaders playing on screens and I've changed the words to 'We'll be watching you'."

Man-donna doing duet with McCartney
  • MADONNA discussed collaborating with rock legend SIR PAUL McCARTNEY backstage at the Live 8 concert in London on Saturday (2JUL05).

The pair were among the star-studded line-up at the charity extravaganza in the capital's Hyde Park.

And, according to the New York Daily News, Madonna took the opportunity to approach McCartney for a guest spot on her upcoming disc.

A source tells the newspaper, "She was spending quality time backstage with Paul McCartney, and they had a 15-minute chat about her new CD and him possibly doing something with her for the record."

"Quality time?" What exactly is "quality time" with Madonna? Would that be anytime you have to be around her in person and she doesn't try to hump you or cram her tongue down your throat???

the image that comes to mind is Mandona, nude and foaming at both ends, trying to break down his dressing room door, until she's dragged away by security guards-

She already leached off George Harrison, making his company pay for one of the biggest flops in history. She better use Paul and Ringo while they're still warm.

My thoughts exactly.

I hope McCartney doesn't go through with any sort of duet with her. If he does, I hope he sings loud enough to drown out her off key warble.

Something I find strange about these latest stories: before these stories came out, I didn't even know that there were rumors of Man-donna doing duets with Aguilera and Gwen Stefani. I had not heard anything about it - how 'bout the rest of you?

What is the point in denying rumours that aren't well known?

Oh wait, it's to create buzz about an upcoming record. :laugh:At this stage, wouldn't doing a duet with Madonna ruin (or set back) Aguilera's or Stefani's careers?

From Launch Yahoo:
  • ...After Aguilera and Madonna were spotted leaving the same West Hollywood, California recording studio, reports suggested they were planning to collaborate. However, Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg tells gossip site The Scoop, "Christina is working on an album in the same building as Madonna, but they have not seen each other. "Gwen Stefani is not appearing on the record either.

MADONNA has enlisted the talents of ANDRE 3000 on her new album, after meeting the OUTKAST star on the set of her husband GUY RITCHIE's forthcoming movie REVOLVER.

MATERIAL GIRL Madonna is set to unleash her latest record, CONFESSIONS ON A DANCEFLOOR, in November (05).

The album will contain a collaborative track that she has been working on with Andre 3000, real name ANDRE BENJAMIN.

Andre says, "Madonna showed up on the set of Revolver and made me really nervous. She walked around the corner and I forgot all my lines.

"She asked me what I thought about music and where it was going. Then we talked about something on her new album."

Funnily enough, fan site Drowned Madonna is claiming this as their "exclusive" story, but another fan site is carrying the same story, and indicates that they heard the same information from an associate of ol' Liz herself.

Do the people at Drowned Madonna not understand what the word "exclusive" means?

According to madonnalicious:
  • Andre 3000 rumour untrue
    Posted: 10 August 2005

Liz Rosenberg has stated to a madonnalicious source that the rumour started by UK newspaper The Sun about Madonna working with Andre 3000 of Outkast on a track on Confessions On A Dancefloor is NOT true.

XinhuaNet / ChinaView English
August 4 2005
BEIJING, Aug.4 -- Superstar Madonna has laughed off reports she will collaborate with Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani on her eagerly-awaited new album.

After her politically-themed 2003 album American Life, the singer is returning to dance music with "Confessions on a Dance Floor" - which hits music stores in November.

After Aguilera and Madonna were spotted leaving the same West Hollywood, California recording studio, reports suggested they were planning to collaborate.

However, Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg tells gossip site The Scoop: "Christina is working on an album in the same building as Madonna, but they have not seen each other.

"Gwen Stefani is not guesting on the record either. It's all Madonna, all the time - a total dance record called Confessions On A Dance Floor."
