What a waste of trees. And time. Trying to find meaning in a disco singer's songs and videos (news flash: there are none).

Madonna built her career stealing the looks and fashions of other people (and sometimes their music) - why don't these academic people write a book explaining how someone so unoriginal and devoid of integrity manages to find success despite that, in addition to explaining how she manages to get a pass from the media so often? How 'bout calling such a book "The Disintegration of American Morals" or something?

How about demonstrating how Madonna's status as an icon in the homosexual community is a sham? She doesn't give a rat about those people and some of them worship her anyway. She doesn't care about Hispanics, women (of any color or sexual orientation), or black people, either.

Madonna Tribe on "Madonna's Drowned World"
  • In December 2003 we published an article about a book of essays on the Queen of Pop titled "Madonna's Drowned Worlds: New Approaches to Her Subcultural Transformations, 1983-2003" that was about to be released by Ashgate Publishing in mid 2004.

Today that the book, compiled by Santiago Fouz-Hernández and Freya Jarman-Ivens and featuring new theoretical approaches to Madonna's work, is out we would like to put the spotlight on it once again. This collection of essays explores the themes of gender, sexuality, ethnicity and celebrity consumption through the lens of Madonna's songs, videos and shows.

An international array of scholars portrays Madonna's popularization of the notion that identity is not fixed and can be continuously rearranged and revamped. While the contributors refer to classic cultural theorists such as Baudrillard, Žižek, Foucault and Barthes, new theoretical trends feature prominently.

The collection focuses on new Madonna-related topics such as Hinduism, Judaism, Japanese culture, all-American culture, queer culture, motherhood and her influence on newer "girl acts".

Click here to access MadonnaTribe's archive to read a excerpt from the book about Madonna exploring a Latin character/persona in her videos.

Drowned in crud, they mean.

I know the hag was a poster child for the radical left, but there's no one left to impress. She made herself her own victim by setting the bar at nubile anticultural sludge- now the culture she helped to create wants nothing to do with her.

Outside of a few diehard fans, she can still pump out her own self-promotional pieces.

I hope it's expensive.

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this, so I thought I'd stick it here. An example of M's "classy, intellectual" behavior while supposedly watching Boy George's play "Taboo":
Quote:

Madonna's close friend Rosie O’Donnell produced the Broadway run of Taboo, which gives George more opportunity to b***h about Madonna. For instance, there was the time she attended a performance of Taboo (an event this columnist actually witnessed in person). Madonna was laughing and talking a little too loudly, to the point that other patrons were actually shushing her. The night became more about watching Madonna watching the play than about watching the actual production, especially if you knew the drama between the two divas.

I saw that the other day on some fan site, that Boy George has written a new book where he dishes on Madonna.

As for point number two in that blue-colored blurb, why does Madonna of all people get angry if someone talks about her private business with others? She's made a life of living in front of the camera, she is a total attention- and fame- whore.

She's simulated masturbation and oral sex on camera, and friends in interviews over the years have said that she liked to make out or have sex with children (i.e., Hispanic boys ages 15, 16), etc., people have gone on record in interviews as saying Madonna has had many abortions, etc., what could anyone say about her from her private life that could possibly be any worse?? :ask:

Boy George hates Mandonna with the passion and I am happy about that.

Madonna is doing book reviews these days.

Though I doubt she's literate. She must have gotten ahold of an audio book version of 50 Shades.

We have several different book threads on here, I didn't know which one would be the best, so I'm using this one.

Madonna Dings Fifty Shades of Grey as "Not Very Sexy," Only for Virgins
  • Plenty of people will be lining up to see Fifty Shades of Grey this weekend, but Madonna will not be among them. The "Like a Virgin" singer, 56, spoke to Billboard about the raunchy story in a new interview, and said it holds little appeal for her.

"Yes, I have [read it]," Madge said of E L James' best-selling erotic novel. "It's pulp fiction. It's not very sexy, maybe for someone who has never had sex before."

"I kept waiting for something exciting and crazy to happen in that red room thing, and I was like, 'Hmm, a lot of spanking,'" the pop star continued to Billboard, referencing main character Christian Grey's so-called Red Room of Pain, where he carries out his S&M activities. "I also thought, 'This is so unrealistic because no guy goes down on a girl that much.' I'm sorry, but no one eats p---y as much as the guy in that book."

While the "Living for Love" performer finds Christian Grey's sex life with his lover Anastasia Steele unrealistic, she did tell Billboard that her own passions is as lively as ever.

Asked whether her views on sex have changed in the past few decades, Madonna said, "Absolutely not. Nope. Sex is a wonderful, necessary part of life."

The Grammy winner also has high hopes for her romantic future, telling Billboard that after two failed marriages -- first to Sean Penn and then to Guy Ritchie -- she still hopes to find The One.

"I'm a hopeless romantic," she spilled. "I love being in love. I mean, I'm in love with my children, but that's a different kind of love. It's the love that never ends."
Madonna Bashes 'Fifty Shades of Grey': 'It's Not Very Sexy'
  • Feb 13, 2015

Madonna is known for sex (and her music, of course), but it doesn’t seem she has high thoughts for something else known for sex – Fifty Shades of Grey.

The 56-year-old singer shared her candid thoughts on the book series that led to the highly anticipated movie, in theaters now.

“Yes, I have,” Madonna told Billboard when asked if she read the book. “It’s pulp fiction. It’s not very sexy, maybe for someone who has never had sex before. I kept waiting for something exciting and crazy to happen in that red room thing, and I was like, ‘Hmm, a lot of spanking.’ I also thought, ‘This is so unrealistic because no guy goes down on a girl that much.’ I’m sorry, but no one eats p—- as much as the guy in that book.”

Madge actually had to not only let people knew she heard of that trashpile ... she proved how much she misses the point: the books are geared to women who not only lost their V-card decades ago, but want to get their groove back. Even if the reader is, oh, a 60something year old public library leader who's eagerly waiting for the birth of her latest grandchild.

I wish Madge could keep her vapid thoughts to herself for at least the next ten years, or until Lola makes her a grandma - whichever comes first.

Madonna Hints At Tell All Book
  • She’s already published a best-seller with her racy coffee table book Sex. But now Madonna has teased she plans to reveal all her secrets in an autobiography.

But don’t get too excited – she’s not quite ready to tell all just yet.

Madonna, 56, told Radio 2: “I’m sure I will [write an autobiography] one day. I’ve got so many tales to tell.”

From feuds with Sir Elton John and Lady Gaga, to her marriages to Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie, Madonna certainly has a lot of stories up her sleeve.

And she admits she has a lot more to tell than she reveals in her music.

Madonna said of her songs: “They’re just one slice of my life.

“If I wrote my book that would be from start to finish, and that’s a whole lot of ground to cover.

“I’d tell the stories I felt were valuable to tell, that were inspiring, that people could relate to.

“I’m a storyteller, that’s what I think of myself as.”
