The M-sites are forever featuring interviews with people who have worked the lighting/design/whatever of Madonna's "elaborate" stages. Up to a point, that can be very interesting, but anyone else think it's ridiculous to have all this machinery and material that has to be hauled around and hastily put up and torn down all the time? I'm surprised there aren't more fatalities with all this stuff going on.

Well, it's ok if it's done properly.

Madonna just makes a hot mess of it. It's like "Ok, Grandma, don't start flying around. Leave that to the Backstreet Boys."

I find it all really fascinating, but I do think with Madonna, she's just a little too excessive with her sets (don't forget the video screens and catwalks on the last tour).

I'm sure there are many injuries we don't hear about, especially with the crew working on audio and dealing with all of the speakers, monitors, cable wires, etc...there's a lot of electricity going on right there. A lot of people don't realize exactly how much work the crew has to do when they travel across the country and around the globe, going from city to city, setting up the stage and sound booths, only to have to take it all down and go the next location. I give props to those people.

any way they can get a few horses on stage?

I remember one award show the bi tch was on where a female crew member took a terrible fall. Mandona wanted them to shoot around the unconscious woman who was laying there, because she didn't want the arriving emergency medics to interrupt her bit!

The scary thing is, she will probably read this and go on to feature lots of images of horses on her next tour, to be "ironic".

By the way, Anna L., I keep forgetting to tell you how funny your Britney and Posh images are. Priceless!

Yes, it's ridiculous. I guess Madonna thinks people expect her to have extravagant stage design, so she has to go all-out.

~ Kind of like how Madonna started out "reinventing herself" as nothing but a cheap tactic to maintain media and public interest but is now pretty much forced to do it because people have come to expect her to "reinvent herself."

If she stops reinventing herself (read: stops ripping off other celebrities or changing her hair color every other week, whoop dee doo) her fans would have a cow. Well, some, anyway. I could picture Man-donna stop doing the reinvention thing, then we'd see fans crowing about what a "rebel" she is, how daring she is to stop caving into what other people expect her to do. :rolleyes2:

What I find interesting is that the fans keep publishing those stories about crap like her sets, lighting, and stages. Do any of them honestly give a rat about that stuff?

I'm a pretty big fan of another celebrity myself, and I don't get that involved with this kind of minutia. So are these actual fan sites, or does Madonna & Co. churn these things out? I just cannot picture actual fans of a celebrity caring about that stuff.

Remember during her Reinvention Tour we were seeing blog entries at fan sites about stuff like, "Today, we interview Acme Inc. who made Madonna's kilts! Tomorrow, in Part Two, we interview the sheep whose wool was sheared for the kilts!" :rolleyes2:

Either these "fans" are very anal retentive or it's a slow news day. They'd settle for an interview with Madonna's best friend's brother's second cousin's newspaper boy's aunt's step sister's, who once saw a photo of Madonna in a magazine.

If Mandonna was "incredibly talented", like her fans say, she wouldn't need big/pointless sets, she can just jump on stage and do her geriatric thing.

*keeping fingers crossed that she has midgets and dwarves on stage for the new tour*

And dang Madonna to heck for not ripping off my perfectly good idea that I've been trying to get her to use for the past couple of years:

declare yourself a Druid, wear a hooded cloak on stage, and have back-up dancers dressed in tree costumes. This would work perfectly for Like A Prayer.

During this number, crotch grabbing and rubbing up against the "tree dancers" in a provocative way is optional, but highly recommended. Then insist that you didn't really mean to offend any Druids.

Ah, but this time, she'll likely be doing so in too tight lyrca lavendar and pink leotards. Yea.

and now- surprise, surprise- mandyke hashing out yet more obscenity as part of her ongoing war against Christianity. But look at the photo- who says God isn't watching everything?
