It is possible that this story was fabricated by the tabloids. Going back to the 1940s /1950s, tabloids have loved to make the public think that there are "cat fights" or feuds between female celebrities. Not that I would put it past Madonna to actually do this, though...

I know some of you have already mentioned this in other threads, but I thought I'd start a thread devoted exclusively to it, along with the new links that have been showing up on Google news about it:

Madonna Can't Stand Mariah Carey - form Softpedia
  • It is reported that pop diva Madonna can't stand Mariah Carey and gave precise instructions to the Live 8 organizers to keep Mariah away from her backstage.

It is reported that pop diva Madonna can't stand Mariah Carey and gave precise instructions to the Live 8 organizers to keep Mariah away from her backstage. Britain's Sun newspaper reports that Madonna wants a changing room near Sir Paul McCartney

A source revealed: "There is no love lost between them”. "Madonna doesn't want to see Mariah - or her massive entourage".
Madonna's Live8 Mariah rule - same story as one above.

Do you know I was going to post something on this when I heard that Mariah was going to be a part of Live 8? I was thinking that Madonna was going to threaten to pull out of the concert if Mariah was going to perform and I think she would have if she enjoyed the popularity she once did. I think if she did that now, though, she would probably be given her walking papers. I saw the end of the concert when everybody was singing "Hey Jude" and I didn't notice Madonna but I did see Mariah and I observed Paul McCartney whisper something to her. I would think that an event such as this would be the perfect vehicle for Esther to show how much Kaballah has changed her for the better so much so that she could tolerate ALL her fellow performers. I guess she still can't recover from Mariah having more number ones.

Yeah, Kabbalah has changed her so much that she still resorts to the old tactic of peppering her performances with profanity...

Madonna v. Mariah: A decade-long feud. - from Jossip.
NY Post Gossip, Page 6
Madonna loves Mariah Carey (July 6, 2005; Source: The Bosh)
Madonna Kept 'Far Away' From Mariah - from Contact Music
Mariah heading for number one - from Music News, Virgin.net

From Jossip:
  • That little rift at Live 8 between Madonna and Mariah Carey we told you about yesterday actually seems to have some roots, and not the ones Madge usually sprouts from her neglected dye job.
    ----------------
This rivalry is actually a longstanding one -- it stretches back to '95, when Mariah was nothing if not a hit-making robot and Madonna was struggling to move units (regardless of enjoying the longest running No. 1 of her career earlier that year). Supposedly, Madonna revealed during an interview that she'd kill herself if she were Mariah (paraphrasing here), a sour-grapes comment on Mariah's work-horsiness. Mariah hit back with a gem of a soundbite
    ----------------
and the video is available on FourFour, which features Mariah in 1995 saying, "I really haven't paid attention to Madonna since like 7th or 8th grade when she used to be popular."

And welcome back to the realm of relevance yourself, Mariah.
From The Bosh:
  • A backstage snitch at London's Live 8 concert overheard Madonna telling an underling that she wanted to be kept "far away" from Mariah Carey during the star-studded extravaganza in Hyde Park over the July Fourth weekend reports Page Six.

"Just let me know when she leaves her trailer, because that's when I'm outta here," Madonna seethed, according to our intrepid earwitness. "I want to be kept as far away from her as possible."
Contact Music:
  • MADONNA was desperate to stay away from MARIAH CAREY at the Live 8 concert in London, and ordered aides to keep a distance between the two.

The pair were among a starstudded list of performers at the charity bash that included SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, U2, THE WHO and PINK FLOYD.

While Madonna was keen to mingle with most of the acts backstage - she couldn't bare to be close to the HONEY hitmaker.

According to PageSix.Com, she told an assistant, "Just let me know when she leaves her trailer, because that's when I'm outta here. I want to be kept as far away from her as possible."
    06/07/2005 05:10
Music News, virgin.net:
  • Mariah heading for number one

US diva Mariah Carey is set to top the UK singles chart this week with 'We Belong Together.'

The track, which has been taken from her latest album 'The Emancipation of Mimi', is on course to knock 2Pac and Elton John's 'Ghetto Gospel' off the number one spot.

Carey's sales have been boosted after she performed the song at last weekend's Live 8 concert in Hyde Park. If it reaches the top spot on Sunday it would be her third chart-topper after 'Against All Odds' with Westlife and 'Without You'.

Other new entries are expected in the top 40 from Rachel Stevens, Fat Joe ft. Nelly, Joss Stone, Kelly Clarkson and Fatboy Slim.

The news will cheer up Carey after it was revealed fellow diva Madonna was desperate to stay away from her at last week's Live 8 event.

According to PageSix.Com, Madonna told an assistant, "Just let me know when she (Carey) leaves her trailer, because that's when I'm outta here. I want to be kept as far away from her as possible."

Why would Mariah need cheering up about Madonna's comments? She is very successful right now and Madonna is a desperate old hag.

I can't understand how Man-Donna wanted to be kept away from Mariah Carey at Live 8 when in fact it should be the other way around. She's the one that started the catfight back in 1995 in one of the spin issues stateing that she rather be dead than to be Mariah Carey. Madonna's excuse to why she didn't want to run into Mariah was that she wasn't spiritual enough. Yeah right! What a lame ass biotch. Also i seen where Madonna has been asked about her father likeing Celine as a artist and she makes quotes and facial impressions that she doesn't like her. Yet Celine has done nothing but give statements saying shes a great artist and happy to be by her side in the charts. You would think that Kab Sh*t would teach her to be more loveing :rolleyes2:

Now let me get one thing straight. I'm no fan of Mariah Carey. I think she's just another egotistical bipolar b***h. In fact she should have a anti site as well....she used too! But i get the feeling she hired someone to have them shut down. Oh and as far as Celine goes. I give her more credit that she seems to be a much more nicer diva that can actually sing. I don't care for her music that much but i give her extra credit for being not sooo stuck up like these two, and the rest of the other divas i didn't mention....Whitney Houston :clown2:

CAREY FANS IN ANTI-MADONNA CAMPAIGN?

Posted Image

USA Today music writer Ken Barnes took part in an online chat on Tuesday August 2 with readers, and was asked about a message making the rounds alleging that Mariah Carey fans ganging up to help make Madonna's new album a flop by calling radio stations and saying the new single is bad (though many suspect that the stunt was started by enemies of Carey, purposely making the singer and her fans look bad by spreading the phony message).

"Interesting concept. Is Madonna supposed to be such a threat to Mariah that her album must be discredited in order to keep Mariah on the airwaves," Barnes asked. "Loony tunes. Hardly the same audience, anyway, not much in common outside of their gender. Can't imagine anything like this, even if it gets going, will have any discernible effect."

If it's true, if Mariah fans really are planning on doing this,- I don't think they need to bother. They didn't have to do it for Madonna's last record.

Madonna ruined her last record without their help, without anyone's help

There's a lesson and a good anti-Madonna point in there somewhere.

This strikes me as more of a Madonna fan base thing, that they, Madonna fans, started the rumor because they find Carey a big threat to Man-donna. It came out in the news just a couple of months ago that she (Mariah Carey) now has more #1 pop songs than any other female pop singer.

I can't imagine Carey fans being that desperate, to pull a stunt like that, but I can picture Madonna fans being that desperate. I think Madonna is probably desperate.

I bet somehow Madonna fans think that by being so aggressively obessive about doing things such as calling radio stations to play Madonna more and more, that that to them means they are "standing up" for what they believe in. That they are just "expressing themselves" Madonna has got them very well trained.

Since the recent fiasco over payola and record stations, I'm sure Madonna's marketing team is brain storming to come up with different ways to make radio stations play her new record.

Not a sell-out.

You know what just crossed my mind as I read and laughed at the site contents to that link...

Mariah always had cutesy lil names for her albums, usually one word ie Emotions, Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet etc. She broke that theme with a title that can only be redeemed by the actual talent which is The Emancipation Of Mimi.

Madonna always titles her albums between one or three letter phrases, now she leaped to four words a title. I wonder if she thinks breaking her little trend will bring success to hers.

I looked your link over the other night. I even clicked through and looked at one of the other pages.

There was a second page, with links to amazon.com Madonna product pages with a note at the top telling Mariah fans to give Madonna's stuff crummy reviews. Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to "make up" and falsify negative reviews. Plenty of Madonna's products are terrible, and the public already knows it.

That Carey site is so over- the- top, it has to be a joke or a hoax.

Not just the rhetoric, but the images - Why would a Mariah fan paste Mariah's face over Madonna's (e.g. in one image, they pasted Carey's face over Madonna's from Madonna's 'Ray of Light' single), even if they're trying to make the point that Carey is 'queen' now and not Madonna?

Even if it isn't a joke/hoax, and they're for real, that is one of the funniest anti-Madonna things I've seen in a while.

Will Madonna's next record tank as the last one did, as these Carey fans want?

I honestly don't know. If Grandma-donna stays away from lame raps and doesn't try to imply that her new record contains any kind of serious message, it might sell okay - not stellar, but okay.

On the other hand, I think Madonna is more and more old news as time goes by, so while initially there might be interest in the new Madonna record (simply because it is Madonna), I would not be surprised to see sales taper off and for the record to be lukewarm in sales and reception.

So I guess either way, I'm predicting the next record will be ho-hum, average, and so-so in quality, interest, sales, and popularity; people won't go nuts for it, but they won't hate it, either. (If it fails miserably like the last one did, I'll derive amusement from it, though.)

Drowned Madonna posted some article about some origination called team lamb and how Mariah fans are posting fake bad reviews for the Confessions On a Dance Floor album. I think Drowned Madonna is making this up! She's a bloody devoted follower of Madonna! I don't know about you guys but this pissed me off cause I don't find it true not in the least bit, Mariah proved herself when she came back with We Belong Together and had a 14 week number 1# stay!
