Thanks for posting that - I cross posted it to another thread on the board.

I've never understood why so many of the Madonna fans have been so hateful or rude towards over the years, when compared to the anti-Madonna comments I see by other people, (like on the page you linked to), other people are way more mean, hostile, rude, mean-spirited, and nasty towards Madonna than I ever was or am.

I totally agree - you've been remarkably fair and balanced and thorough in your analysis over the years at this board. However the public tide is now turning against her and there's an almost mindless vicious glee about it all - and it's probably just gonna get worse.

Not that she hasn't asked for it all and then some, but it's almost breathtaking to see the level of venom being spat at her now in almost every blog in which she shows up. The detractors are starting to far outnumber her hard core supporters.

Thank you, ocean lover.

I have tried to be fair. Even though the site or board has the phrase "I hate" in it, I don't really hate her.

I totally disagree with her lifestyle choices, the negative impact she's had on culture, that she treats people like trash, she keeps ripping off other people etc., though.

The detractors are starting to far outnumber her hard core supporters.
I wonder if most of them are under 35 years old, so they don't really remember her from the 1980s, which means they find "current" Madonna (the gnarled, overly- veiny 52 year old who doesn't really make current, hip videos or music) irrelevant or boring.

I guess it's easier for them to dismiss her earlier work that her older fans tend to find so impressive.

For our new board member, OnyxDragon01:
I think you had a post in this thread under moderated status, and I'm pretty sure I hit the "approve this post" button on it, but for some reason I do not understand, it's not showing up.

If you'd like to post it again, that would be fine.

I've taken you off moderated status, so any posts you make now should automatically show up on the board the moment you hit the "submit" button. (Your posts no longer have to be approved by a moderator or admin before they get published.)

(I do remember your post saying something about how Madonna is not a 15 year old kid anymore so she looks rather ridiculous in pig tails now that she's over 50. My apologies for your missing post. I have no idea what happened to it.)

I'm surprised that nobody has commented on the Head Lice headlines. This is pure comedy gold!

Here's a new link:

I was prowling the internet looking for retro hairstyles when I came across a photo of Madonna with short curly hair and I decided, why not post it and poke fun at it?
So here it is:

Quote:

Madonna is one celebrity who seems to like the 1940's Hollywood glamour and this hairstyle certainly shows that. Women of the 40's began following the stars for inspiration with fashion and hairdos. Feminine looking soft curls were a big hit.

This lovely lady's hair is shoulder length and is full of loose waves. The center part is showing some dark roots but hey, they match her coat. Blonde locks show up nicely against a black background. Anyone with medium length locks, or someone who is considering cutting their long strands shorter, should take a look at this one. A curl enhancing product would be helpful when styling and using a diffuser to blow-dry would be a helpful hint. Turning head upside down will help with fullness and using fingers to style instead of brushing out the strands will help keep the bend in the shaft.

This photograph was taken December 2, 2007 at an event in New York City.

Her roots need touching up (as always), and she looks as if she's having a hard time smiling. To me she always comes across looking stiff in photos.

Why Madonna Had Hairy Armpits in High School

Madonna Reveals ‘Tortured’ Youth: Boys Called Me ‘Hairy Monster’
  • Madonna wasn’t always the iconic, sizzling sex symbol who millions of fans have come to know and adore. In fact, according to the Material Girl herself, her childhood was “tortured” and rife with painful schoolyard taunts.

“The boys in my school would make fun of me,” Madonna revealed in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s December issue. “[They called me] ‘hairy monster.’ You know, things like that.”

She could have bought a bottle of Nair.
Let's see, I smell a contradiction. One of her former school friends said, back in the 80s, that she would wear a bodysuit or leotard under her clothes to protect her virginity. Since she says she lost it at 16 I'm not sure, but the friend said, in the same interview, that, "Madonna was a heartbreaker even then."
?
When she was making the most out of her man-eater reputation her friends called her a heartbreaker back in school. Now, to get sympathy for some reason, she says the boys hated her and made fun of her and called her weird.

In an interview from about 3 - 5 years ago, she claimed that when she was a teen in school, she was a nerd who felt like an outsider... but I recall from articles before that she was a cheer leader in junior high and/or high school.

Usually girls who are cheerleaders are the pretty, popular, out-going ones.

The nerdy uncool girls don't make it to cheer squad, so I don't buy her "outsider" stories.

Good point. In no school I've ever seen has an outsider nerd made the cheerleading squad.

The lice article is a scream. She did not grow up in New York, she had 2 years of college under her belt by the time she went to NY. Bullying? Like slapping young fans outside your apartment building? Like telling a kid fan to go away? Like telling two young girls that they're nothing and mean nothing? Calling your fans pimply and ugly?

Not her best look... Madonna sports some hideous dark roots and wears a pair of chunky boots as she goes sightseeing
  • By Fehintola Betiku and Kirsty Mccormack

    PUBLISHED: 06:25 EST, 7 June 2012

She is has rightly been hailed as an icon who has continually reinvented her look throughout the years.

But yesterday Madonna failed to show off her star power as she journeyed through Istanbul in a mismatched ensemble.

The 53-year-old showed off her untouched roots as she and her toyboy Brahim Zaibat did some religious sightseeing with her entourage.

The Material Girl covered up her unkempt hair with a sheer black head scarf as she made her way into The Sultan Ahmed Mosque.

She also wore a striped grey and black dress with a long grey cardigan which she bizarrely opted to team with a pair of hefty patent leather boots.

The singer completed her look with a pair of dark sunglasses, a black leather handbag which had a chunky silver linked chain for a handle.

Keen to hide the obvious signs of ageing, Madonna finished her look with a pair of black fingerless leather gloves.

The "toyboy" looks far from elated in some of those pics. He must be cringing inside. They couldn't be more mismatched. Madonna looks far older than her years. Rather pathetic.

No, she is not "elegant"

She is also repeating herself. She used to grow her arm pit hair out long in the 1980s,before she got real famous. She did it to shock people. It's in biographies about her.

I think she's trying to pass this off now as "art" or as being some kind of statement.

  • Madonna's new motto is apparently "long hair, don't care."

The "Girl Gone Wild" singer uploaded an Instagram photo Thursday, March 20, of herself dressed in a lacy black bra and bow tie, exposing lengthy underarm hair. "Long hair...... Don't Care!!!!!! #artforfreedom #rebelheart #revolutionoflove," she captioned the shot.

Art for Freedom is a global initiative helmed by Madonna and VICE that aims to encourage creative expression that brings awareness to human rights violations, and "start a revolution of love." Fans are encouraged to contribute art that promotes freedom of speech.

The pop superstar had previously opened up about going against the grain, even as a non-famous youth.

"[G]oing to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn't fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite," Madonna told Harper's Bazaar in 2011. "I refused to wear makeup, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits."

"The boys in my school would make fun of me. 'Hairy monster.' You know, things like that," she said, adding: "Straight men did not find me attractive. I think they were scared of me because I was different. I've always asked, 'Why? Why do I have to do that? Why do I have to look this way? Why do I have to dress this way? Why do I have to behave this way?'"

This hair dresser must get his hands regularly covered in lice, since this says he has been working on her hair since 2003.

Grammys Hair: The Story Behind Madonna's Matador-Inspired 'Do

  • Madonna’s polarizing matadorlike custom Givenchy outfit may have elicited a range of reactions on Sunday night, but nobody could argue with the fact that the Material Girl’s Grammy hair was nothing if not perfect. Thanks to Madonna’s mane man,??Andy Lecompte, her pin-curl look (complete with veiled topper) transitioned effortlessly into Veronica Lake-type waves for her live performance of??her new single, "Living for Love,"??during the Grammys telecast.

"Inspiration was taken from matador bullfighters, with a romantic touch," explains Lecompte, who works out of his namesake Los Angeles salon and has had his hands on Madonna’s tresses since 2003.

"First, we came up with her performance look," says??Lecompte, who based Madonna’s red-carpet hair look on her onstage style. "We didn’t want her to perform with her hair pulled back as a traditional matador, because by the end of the song, she is more romantic and soft."

After setting her hair for the performance, Lecompte then pinned up Madonna’s curls in front to give her "an elegant, glamorous look," he says. "Traditionally, female matadors wear their hair pulled back in tight braids," says Lecompte, who created a deconstructed take on the classic look in the back by braiding hair on one side and then pulling it up into a chignon.

She already did the pink hair thing around 1984.

Oh. BTW. The lady lead singer of Berlin, Terri Nunn, already did the "dye the tips" thing in the 1980s. Madonna is not the first to do that either.

You'll notice in this Daily Mail piece, they say she is following other singers who have been doing their hair the same way lately.

Tickled pink! Madonna unveils neon ombre hair on Instagram
  • By KAREN MIZOGUCHI FOR MAILONLINE
    PUBLISHED: 12:11 EST, 15 May 2015 | UPDATED: 12:53 EST, 15 May 2015

Neon hair is all the rage with young Hollywood and Madonna got in on the act with her latest 'do.

The 56-year-old Rebel Heart hitmaker ditched her signature blonde mane and debuted her new colorful locks on her Instagram account on Friday.

The mother-of-four dyed her tips an ombre pink hue courtesy of famed celebrity hairstylist Andy Lecompte in New York City.

...But as of late, the Material Girl is following in the lead of her pink-haired predecessors including Kaley Cuoco, Julianne Hough and Hilary Duff, who have all experimented with their tresses this year.
Don't know what they mean by "neon." Shade of pink in her hair looks more soft pastel, not neon.
