actions speak louder than words. Here she's clearly got Lourdes dressed up as a mini-version of herself, supposedly to let the girl see a Harry Potter movie. Notice the little princess is not smiling. She does have that cold, hard jaded look her mother has and it's kind-of sad because she's way too young to have that look in her eyes.

OK, I stand corrected. I'm finding a few photos on Madonna.Nu with her smiling, but in the majority of them, it either looks forced or she looks mildly disgusted. |

What I find interesting is how much Lourdes looks like a younger Madonna, and then when you look at Madonna herself compared, it's screamingly obvious Madonna has had facial/plastic surgery. Her face is so stretched and sunken in she almost doesn't look recognizable. |

I was so going to post it! Got up today, opened the morning paper, and there was that photo of her with Lourdes at the Potter premiere, and here about a week ago, Liz Rosenberg was saying how Man-donna never drags the kiddos to movie premieres. ![]() You can view more info / photos about this story in this blog entry at Drowned Madonna's site. I commented on Madonna taking Lourdes to this film premiere in the thread called "So which is it?" too. |

Lourdes's jacket is nice. It looks like the one Elle Driver wore in Kill Bill, but in black.

I found this article which I thought it was interesting...although many points have been discussed here already. netscape CELEB INSIDER: Madonna the Manipulator Related Links Madonna Pix • 2004 'It' Religion • Madonna Wanted Rodmans... • Back in the Saddle Send to a friend The great manipulator is at it again. That's Madonna, of course, baiting and exploiting her way into controversy as she launches a new album -- AGAIN. This time, she has Kabbalah rabbis upset over her remark that joining the religion has sparked such controversy, 'I may as well have announced that I've joined the Nazi party.' And she has parents across the land upset over her claims to Newsweek that she's such a strict parent, that, for instance, when daughter Lourdes leaves clothes on the floor, mad mommy takes ALL her clothes away and makes the nine-year-old earn them back, having to wear the same outfit to school day after day until she does. Best of all is the delicious irony of the Material Girl renouncing materialism as something that will make us all go to hell, even as she continues to embrace it. It's all so...contrived. Wonder if those Kabbalah rabbis think much about how much mileage Madonna got out of exploiting Catholicism back in the day, when she baited the church of her birth with songs and videos that mixed eroticism and Catholic symbolism. She even got denounced by the Vatican for blasphemy. Wow, what great publicity! (Note to the Dalai Lama: If you see Madonna coming, head the other way.) And the fact that backup singer Niki Haris declined to work on the Madonna video featuring a field of burning crosses, finding it too much like the KKK -- well, she got mileage out of that, too. She got mileage out of exploiting an encounter with fellow celebrity Kevin Costner, gagging herself on-camera after he left her backstage quarters, in her 'Truth or Dare' documentary. She got mileage out of exploiting her body many times, of course, like when controversy over her explicit book, 'Sex,' helped pump up sales of her 'Erotica' album. (Actually, some of the photos, like Madge hitchhiking naked, were pretty funny.) Madonna's history as a provocateur is at least as long as her history in show business, and if you trace her most controversial moments, you can pretty much count on finding a commercial tie-in. Remember in 2003, the controversy over her 'American Life' video that included a scene of her tossing a lighter shaped like a hand grenade into the lap of a George Bush lookalike -- which was revoked the day it came out? Was she creating controversy just to sell her album? Well, how much have we seen of Madonna protesting the war since then? Um-hm. Now she says that she didn't want to exploit Lourdes and little brother Rocco by including them in her new 'I'm Going to Tell You a Secret' documentary, but she concluded that to leave them out would be 'a lie.' Really? Why would that be a lie? It's not as if failing to put them on camera would be tantamount to denying their existence. Jon Bon Jovi's remarks that she does indeed exploit the two by having them out at every premiere and other photo op are right on target. And he's on target when he notes that his kids don't need security guards at school because no one knows what they look like -- because he keeps them out of the limelight in respect to their privacy. But let's face it, at this point it's clear Madonna doesn't know how NOT to exploit everyone in her world, so why would her children be any different? This is f*cking stupid. I just bet he was threatened by Manny and her staff, or something.
Bon Jovi wasn't wrong, as we all know, so the author of this article is full of sh*t. |

It wasn't a full retraction, if you think about it. He's just stating his case more carefully with the comment: "There are celebrities who will go out of their way to get their picture in the paper and I just think that is a load of rubbish." He's not saying her name specifically but, considering his earlier comment on her, the point still stands. At least, that's my interpretation of it. Or the article could be a lie. Contact Music never states their sources and, as a result, isn't all that reliable. |

I wonder if the pro-Skank article thought about how they worded the whole things. It basically says that after Skank denied taking the kids to premieres, Bon Jovi had to apologize, then afterwards, she took them to a premiere. |

Here's another link or two about the same story: Jon Bon Jovi Apologises To Madonna - Entertainmentwise, UK Bon Jovi Apologizes to Madonna - Ireland Online By and large, I think Contact Music is fairly accurate or trustworthy, but I have noticed that they do have a (an annoying!) tendency not to reveal their sources. In a recent article, they printed something about Madonna saying she wanted eternal life, for example. Now, I have no reason to think that Contact Music lied about that, but they didn't state their source for it, and I was just curious to know where they had read it / heard it. I hate these stupid retractions - (there's another one, by Goldfrapp, and if y'all haven't posted that one yet, I'll do so in a few moments). Elton John does the same thing - "bad mouths" her one week, then releases an apology the next. Don't be ashamed to dislike Madonna, you other celebrities out there! We here at the Anti-M discussion board applaud you for being critical of Madonna and telling it like it is. And in the end scheme of things, Bon Jovi was correct - about a week after he issued his initial statements about her, Madonna indeed took Lourdes to a public premiere (a Harry Potter show), where she stopped and posed with Lourdes for photographers. Maybe Bon Jovi needs some kind of favor from Madonna - or they're planning a duet together. BTW, I like the way the "Entertainmentwise, UK" site puts it (link at top): |

Speaking of Contact Music (again), here's another story about it (a barfy story)- But first - And it still turns out that Bon Jovi was right; Madonna whores her kid for publicity purposes. Not only did Madonna take Lourdes to a film premiere a few months ago, but back when Lourdes was what, only about a year old, Madonna did a photo spread in some magazine of her with Lourdes. Also, this thing says that Elton John "falsely" accused Madonna of lip synching on her last tour - but didn't even a Madonna fan at the board admit that Madonna did in fact lip synch for at least one or two songs during that tour? Madonna Accepts Bon Jovi's Apology, Still Waiting Elton John's - Contact Music |

You're not suggesting that Madonna gave Bon Jovi the evil eye are you? If only he had been wearing his magical, red Kabbalah bracelet ![]() He shouldn't have retracted his apology. He was right, she has used her kids for publicity purposes. |
