Brits out for the Madge
Posted Image

MADONNA is being secretly lined up as the star performer at next year’s Brit Awards.

The Queen Of Pop has been in talks with organisers and is determined to put on a show-stopping performance.

It will be the first time in ten years that she has appeared at Britain’s pop Oscars.

Madonna is riding high following the huge success of comeback album Confessions On A Dance Floor. It has been No1 all over the world, as has first single Hung Up.

Madge is expected to perform new single, Sorry, at the Brits at London’s Earls Court on February 15.

She will go head-to-head with MARIAH CAREY for the International Female gong — and is also likely to be up for Best International Album.

A source close to Madge said: “The Brits is being talked about but nothing has been signed. It’s been a great year for Madonna and she will be a strong contender for awards.

“It’s ten years since she last performed there and she wants to make sure that she steals the show.

“She proved at the MTV Europe Awards that she can wipe the floor with most of today’s performers.”

The Brits promise to be the most closely fought for years.

FRANZ FERDINAND, KAISER CHIEFS, COLDPLAY, GORILLAZ and OASIS are all competing for the Best Album and Best Band gongs.

And it is by no means certain ROBBIE WILLIAMS will walk away with Best Male, either.

He will have to fight off JAMES BLUNT, whose debut album Back To Bedlam has shifted two million copies in the UK — making it the biggestselling album of the year.

Is it just me, or does her face look all pruney in that picture?

I swear, she looks like somebody's grandma trying to "be down" with the young whippersnappers. And failing, naturally.

Have you all noticed something about her schtick as of late? I think she knows her face is falling apart, so she covers it with huge sunglasses, yet wears next to nothing to show off her "great bod."
It isn't great, it's just scrawny, any skinny person can walk around in black hose, big deal.
She's hiding the weird arms and face.
Pretty soon she'll be in a ski mask and long sleeves/high necked outfits, but with bikini bottoms and tights.

Yeah, I've noticed. She's also looking very pale.

Must be all the Japanes food.
Funny, she never really adopted anything Japanese before she went to Tokyo, and if she loves Japan so much, why has she not been there in 12 years?
(Not counting the ridiculous Nothing Really Matters with Japanese catatonics shaking..)

"Brit Awards" magazine article about - and interview with - Madonna is below

Oh yuck.

It uses that old journalistic stand-by when discussing Madonna,
"Dancer! Singer! Book author! Pilates enthusiast! Yoga devotee! Is there anything she can't do?"
(It's like almost every Madonna article is required to have that comment, along with the "She looks great for 47!" comment)

We all know the real reason Madonna stopped discussing her views on Iraq - because nobody wanted to hear her pretend to care about it. That, and her insufferable anti-materialist posturing in interviews and in song lyrics on "American Life" turned people off.

Also didn't hurt that on the anti-M site, I remarked she'd be better off just sticking to pop/dance music.

But anyway, to answer their question, "Is there nothing Madonna can't do?"

Hmm. She can't make a square circle. She can't actually sing well or write a decent song all by her self. She can't resist ripping other people off. I'm sure y'all can come up with more ideas.

Oh LOL - I just skimmed down this article even more, and they also include that standard issue comment of "She looks great for her age" type tripe, where the journalist says,
  • ... ’is she too old for this [being a pop singer, dancing at clubs, promoting pop records, etc]?’.

    The answer: an emphatic ’no’.

Despite a recent horse-riding accident, which left her broken, bruised, and for a while, not quite as bendy, this lady shows no signs of slowing down. And why should she? The hits keep coming, and she’ll always have something new to say.
This article is just filled to the brim with the pro-Madonna cliche's.

Brit Awards Interview - hosted on Drowned Madonna
  • Is there nothing Madonna can't do? The 47-year old singer-songwriter-actor-author returned in November with her tenth studio collection, Confessions on a Dance Floor topping the charts in 40 countries.

The first single from the CD, Hung Up, has its roots in the studio 54era New York. A flashy take on classic disco, it took its creator back to her youth, when Ms Ciccone was a mere fresh-legged young dancer finding freedom on the dance floors of bohemian New York.

"I was like, Wow" says Madonna. "I didn’t know you could walk into a club and start all by yourself. I thought someone had to ask you. I felt an Incredible sense of liberation."

Now, as she’s writhes around in a leotard for Hung Up video, it seems she’s found that feeling again.

"With the last album [American Life] I was in a very thoughtful, Angry mood. I did that already. I don’t need to be going on about the war in Iraq. I moved on to another area, and that’s ’God, I really feel like dancing now…’ I just wanted some relief".

In the two decades since Madonna’s first international hit, Holiday, the singer has changed style like most people change shoes. The reason for all these shed skins, of course was the music. Madonna has always experimented with her sound, as at home with the Evita score as she is with cutting edge producers William Orbit, Mirwais, or Stuart Price.

Says Madonna, "The reason I called the last [live] show reinvention is that people have stuck that phrase on me for years, and I finally decided to take it and stick it above my head and put lights around it".

"It was never about consciously thinking about reinvention, it was about growing and changing, and hoping and praying my work reflected who I was at this time".

Promotional duties around the confessions release included a secret show in Camden’s Koko Club (where Madonna made her UK debut in 1983) - a pre-emptive poke in the eye to those who might otherwise mutter, ’is she too old for this?’.

    The answer: an emphatic ’no’.

Despite a recent horse-riding accident, which left her broken, bruised, and for a while, not quite as bendy, this lady shows no signs of slowing down. And why should she? The hits keep coming, and she’ll always have something new to say.

Madonna shrugs. "I don’t think about how much longer, I just keep looking forwards. Onwards and upwards - that’s always been my motto. I feel better now that I have in my entire life"

Clearly a typo. That's supposed to read "spread-legged".
