Expert analysis: Madonna's dog
December 11, 2005

BY PAIGE WISER
Madonna has been in the news recently for her strict theories on raising children (no TV for Rocco). But she's been strangely silent on the topic of her dog, Chiquita. How does the chi-chi chihuahua feel about her place in the family?

We contacted Nancy Wallace, a psychic who hosts a radio show Wednesday mornings on WJJG-AM (1530), for her insights on this celebrity pet.

"Chiquita is very shy but can be very feisty," Wallace says. That's good because it can be easy to get lost in a household with so many larger-than-life personalities. "She likes Madonna's husband when his quieter side is showing. She likes the kids but doesn't want to be pestered by them. Her stress level gets pretty high when there are too many people around."

Madonna is Chiquita's true love. Chiquita "really wants to be held and loved by Madonna," Wallace says. "While she is being carried, she likes to have her back stroked. She likes Madonna to always be touching her."

Luckily, Chiquita is small enough to be toted just about anywhere.

Mama Madonna is on the move. With her new album's release, "she comes up with new beginnings that are going to be really good for her," Wallace predicts. Chiquita enjoys being along for the ride but tires quickly of the paparazzi.

"She doesn't get bothered by the lights as long as she can see Madonna," Wallace says.

Memo to Madonna: You might want to make an appointment with the veterinarian sometime soon. "Chiquita's left hind leg could either be hurting now, or it is going to get hurt during the holidays," Wallace says.

This puppy will need to be in top shape to keep up with the hardest-working icon in pop music.

Yeah, she did. It wound up at the Burbank dog shelter with its face beaten in. Wonder who did it.

I want a job as a dog psychic. "Kids make it nervous. Likes a person's quieter side. Nervous with many people around. Wants to be petted..."
DUH!!!!! It's a DOG!

what really doesn't make any sense to me is this whole notion of people carrying their dogs around, they seem to spend more time with the dog than with their own kids! Those kind of dogs are too small for me anyway, I like bigger dogs, like labs and shepherds.

Really. Even if they'd still had it, Rocco would keep tripping over it.

Well, I found this story that I posted on Jan. 24th, 2005. I guess I got it from Popdirt.
Music-Wasteland

Before Paris Hilton's Tinkerbell and Britney Spears' Bit Bit, Madonna took her three Chihuahuas Evita, Rosita, and Chiquita everywhere in the '90s, but after a while, the Material Girl got rid of the doggies, which later ended up in bad shape at a Chihuahua Rescue in Burbank, California. "Rosita's face had been beaten in and unfortunately she died," a volunteer at the shelter revealed to In Touch magazine. "I'm sure Madonna thought they would be fine, but it wasn't so." Fortunately, Evita and Chiquita are still doing fine after being placed in a loving foster home.

I have a Chihuahua that I carry around and take care of 24/7. I don't have any children, but if I did, I wouldn't dump my dog at a shelter like Manny did.

I wouldn't dump my cat, Moonstone, like that either. I will never give her up unless I have no choice, like if she's dying and euthanization would be kinder than letting her live in pain.

Having a pet is like having a child. But, considering how Madonna is about her own flesh-and-blood progeny (13+ abortions, anyone?), it should be no surprise that Madonna thinks animals are disposable.

Just because they can't speak in human language doesn't mean that they don't have feelings or that they don't experience pain or pleasure. Shame on you, Madonna!

As for the psychic crack-pot Nancy Wallace... :rolleyes2: Hey, I believe having psychic sensitivities is entirely possible, but there's so many charlatans out there. Maybe she should've done some research as to whether Madonna actually still had the dog before giving her "impressions".

(pardon my French for the following comment but...)

It's amazing how these two bitches (Chiquita & Madonna) are so much alike!!

"...can be very feisty" ("feisty" = "pain in the butt")
"She likes Madonna's husband when his quieter side is showing." (i.e. when Guy is a submissive prat taking orders)
"She likes the kids but doesn't want to be pestered by them." (sounds like Parenting 101 for Madonna)
"Madonna is Chiquita's true love." (being in love with oneself, essentially. No surprise there)
"really wants to be held and loved...she likes to have her back stroked....always be touching" (spoiled rotten to the core!)
"She doesn't get bothered by the lights as long as she can see Madonna" (kind of an unhealthy fixation, don't you think? Forget the psychic...get this dog a shrink!!)

If I remember right, the one web page we linked to a long time ago says that Madonna says that the reason she gave her dogs up is that she had Lourdes and Rocco and was afraid that the dogs would hurt the kids.

Not like manny would lie about the kids or anyone else hurting the dogs.

Indeed! Manny needs to realize that Chihuahuas aren't good around children, but they'll get used to them if they are there.

I think she just got tired of it. Now that she finally kept a fetus alive, she figured she could tote that around for a while.
