Dolce and Gabbana fashion party; - a funny observation about this

When I say I have a funny observation about this news story, I don't mean funny as in "ha ha."

There's a story on madonnalicious.com about a Dolce And Gabbana party where a bunch of young ladies dressed up in outfits similiar to what Man-donna has been wearing in her recent publicity shoots.

What I find funny about this - Madonna no longer has the same pull on pop culture she once did.

Back in the 1980s especially, some girls would dress up like her "Debbie Harry rip-off" look, with the big hair and bows in it, the loads of junky-clunky jewelry, etc.

I'd like to add a side note, here - while there were some young ladies ripping off Madonna's "boy toy" look back in the 1980s, I don't think it was as wide spread as some magazines made it out to be, then or now.

(Remember the old thread I did at the old board asking you all how many of the kids you went to school with actually dressed like Madonna back then? And we all agreed it was few to none?)

But I think it fair to say that maybe ladies in their early 20s who went to clubs or to Madonna concerts did dress up like that, back in the 1980s. I'm not saying it didn't happen at all.

Well, looking at the photo she (she being the lady who runs "madonnalicious.com") has accompanying this story at her fan site (view photo here), it struck me that the only people who dress like Madonna these days are young models who are hired and paid to do so for publicity events.

You just don't really see legions of young whipper snappers dying to wear crappy looking 1970ish / 1980ish Jane Fonda spandex leotards and big, frizzy 1970ish Farrah hair just because Madonna is doing it now.

I can see some of Madonna's male homosexual fans dressing like this (as a gag, or at parties), but that's about it.

It's just so absurd. Because she has to "reinvent" herself for every new album release, she has to come up with a distinctive look for each new record. This one happened to be a 1970-ish era Disco look.

If Madonna does another album, I want to see her rip off plumbers. (Except I don't want to see any butt crack in any of the publicity photos.)

How about a nice photo of Madonna having to unplug an actual, stopped-up toilet in a public rest room?

She already loves to pose in bathrooms and by toilets. (View Madonna in bathroom photo)

Or maybe she can use that as her theme when she goes on tour later this year or next year, whenever. She can pose and dance with plungers.

madonnalicious visitor Jacopo attended the Dolce and Gabbana party at the Metropol, here is a report and picture:

The night inspiration was the seventies, but actually the real inspiration was Madonna and her latest trend.

A huge disco ball was in the middle of the club and the first song of the night was Hung Up (radio version and Stewart Price remix ). But the amazing part was the use of 15 dancers who were dressed up in the very style Madonna has been wearing recently. When Hung Up was played the crowed went wild!

The dude on the left doesn't appear too happy to be wearing a Man-donna Corpse On The Dancefloor shirt.

The dude on the right is wearing shades.

He's like, "I'm soooooo ashamed to be seen in a Madonna shirt! Must... hide... my... identity... be incognito!"

Dolce & Gabbana's latest fashion show in Paris last week featured models wearing tshirts with the Confessions On A Dance Floor album cover design on them.
