I really don't like Iran. They're trying to make nuclear weapons to blow up Israel and possibly European cities. Their leader (Ahmadinejad) is a wacked-out, fascist cretin.
Ordinarily, then, I wouldn't have any desire to move to and live in Iran.

God bless them. I think it’s wonderful. Again, if something’s un banned, it’s revealing. People are open-minded and not worried and not frightened of it. In Iran, U2 and Madonna are banned.
From an interview with author Paul Theroux.

:egypt: I remember posting this at the old board.- [June 13, 2006]
In 2004, Egyptian politicians tried to ban the Queen of pop from entering the Muslim country because of her devotion to Kabbalah - a mystical branch of Judaism.
Campaigners asked the government to refuse the international star a visa citing her recent pilgrimage to Israel to celebrate the Jewish New Year as the reason.
The Egyptian newspaper Albawaba said: "Arab parliament member, Ahmad Al Taibi, turned down an invitation from Madonna to an event she held after she showed inconsideration for the sufferings of Palestinians, especially children, under the occupation of Israeli soldiers."

Supposedly the Confessions tour DVD was also banned in Singapore...
DM article here
"The Confessions Tour DVD has been banned in Singapore due to the crucifixion.
Singapore's New Paper contacted Warner Music Singapore, its marketing manager, Mr Simon Nasser, said the Media Development Authority has not approved the DVD’s release. MDA could not be reached for comment at press time.
Mr Nasser said Warner Music had submitted it for approval last month. The application and a subsequent appeal were rejected.
’We were asked to remove the cross scene in the video but Warner Singapore does not have the rights from Madonna’s management to do that,’ he said. "

Madonna Banned: Countries, Institutions And People Who've Given Her the Boot - Posted: 06/06/2013 10:06 am EDT | Updated: 06/06/2013 10:06 am EDT
With the constant travel that's part of life on tour, many celebrities have faced visa problems and outright bans from countries and venues across the globe. But Madonna takes the cake for the sheer number of countries, people, and institutions that have explicitly wanted nothing to do with her. Looks like the controversial Queen of Pop is also the Queen of Blacklists!
WHO BANNED HER?WHEN?WHY?
Russia2013 After voicing her support for p***y Riot onstage during her MDNA world tour in 2012, the Russian foreign ministry ruled that she was not allowed to earn money while in the country on the terms of the visa she received, and her concert constituted "illegal commercial activity." She faces a fine of up to £10,445 and may be denied future visas to enter Russia.
Malawi2013 Though she wasn't banned outright, her VIP status was revoked after a humanitarian visit to the country sparked the ire of Joyce Banda, Malawi's first female president, who claimed that she "made poor people dance for her."
Guy Ritchie 2008 Despite Madonna's plans to spend Christmas at her former home with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, for the sake of their three children together, he apparently "couldn't bear the thought of her padding round the kitchen the next morning like old times," and forbade her from staying for the night.
Catholic Church2006 Cardinal Ersilio Tonino called for her to be excommunicated after she planned a mock crucifixion atop a glittery cross in Rome as part of her worldwide "Confessions Tour." Muslim and Jewish leaders chimed in to protest further.
Egypt 2004 Members of the Egyptian Parliament banned the singer from the country after the Kabbalah devotee visited Israel for the Jewish New Year, asking all embassies to deny her a visa.
Italy 1990 Madge's Pope problems began here, when she had to cancel one of her Rome "Blonde Ambition tour dates after the Vatican called for a boycott due to the irreverent religious imagery in her "Like a Prayer" video.

Back in the 1990s or so, she rubbed some nation's flag on her crotch. while on stage for some tour of hers. She enjoys desecrating symbols that mean something to people.
Philippines may ban pop singer Madonna - American singer Madonna may face a ban in the Philippines for disrespecting its flag in her concerts last week in the capital Manila, a local broadcaster says.
The 57-year-old entertainer is on a world tour to promote her "Rebel Heart" album, and did sold-out shows on Wednesday and Thursday.
Historical commission official Teodoro Atienza told radio station dzBB that Madonna had "ridiculed" the country's flag.
The entertainer violated a law that prohibits the wearing of the Philippine flag "in whole, or in part, as a costume or uniform", he said.
The singer and concert producers could be held liable for the violation even if they were unaware of the law, said Mr Atienza, who is chief of the heraldry section of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.
"They may face deportation and might not be able to return to the country. She also allowed the flag to touch the stage floor, which is another violation."
There was no immediate response from the organisers of the concerts, held in the same hall where Pope Francis met Philippine families last year.
A Roman Catholic bishop in the Philippines this week urged the faithful to boycott Madonna's shows over her "suggestive" performance and "vulgar" clothes.
Roman Catholics make up about 80 per cent of a population of more than 100 million in the Philippines, where the church has strong influence, blocking legislation on the death penalty, divorce and same-sex marriage.

Her filthy little mouth should've been enough grounds for a ban. Typical of her honey badger blood ...

Madonna accused of 'disrespecting' Philippines flag
Philippines may ban Madonna for 'disrespecting' their flag, report says
Madonna could be banned from Philippines for disrespecting its flag - BY JACQUELINE CUTLER NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Friday, February 26, 2016, 11:53 AM
Madonna could be banned from the Philippines for disrespecting its flag.
Performing in Manila in sold-out shows Wednesday and Thursday on the “Rebel Heart” tour, the pop icon, 57, wrapped herself in the country’s flag.
“She ridiculed our flag,” said Teodoro Atienza, chief of the heraldry section of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines on Friday.
Madonna’s gesture violates a law prohibiting the wearing of the Philippine flag “in whole, or part, as a costume or uniform,” Atienza said.
While draping herself in the flag, it touched the floor, another violation.
People who do so “may face deportation and might not be able to return to the country,” Atienza continued.
It’s the second incident this month in which the pop icon wrapped herself in the flag of the nation where she was performing — and managed to infuriate people.
When in Taiwan three weeks ago, she wrapped herself in a Taiwanese flag, angering Chinese who consider Taiwan a province.
And this was her second controversy in the Philippines this week.
On Wednesday, Archbishop Ramon Arguelles, urged the faithful to stay away from Madonna’s concerts saying her music was “suggestive” and her clothes are “vulgar.”
Singapore is the next stop on Madonna’s tour and she’s slated to perform Sunday. Madonna’s Problems in the Philippines Get Even Worse - First a Roman Catholic bishop in the Philippines urged the faithful to boycott Madonna’s concert appearances this week in Manila, as we reported previously, and now Reuters reports that the singer may be banned outright from the country.
Madonna, 57, reportedly performed sold-out shows in the capital city on Wednesday and Thursday, and she’s being accused of disrespecting the flag of the Philippines during the shows.
Teodoro Atienza, an official with the country’s Historical Commission, said Madonna violated a law prohibiting the wearing of the Philippine flag. “She ridiculed our flag,” Atienza said.
He said the singer and concert producers could be held liable for violating the law even if they were not aware of it. “They may face deportation and might not be able to return to the country,” Atienza said. “She also allowed the flag to touch the stage floor, which is another violation.” Madonna faces possible ban in Philippines for 'ridiculing' flag
