I am really awed at what is happening with Sterling and the NBA. While I do not endorse what he had to say, I am really disturbed to see him publicly lynched the way he was. The court of public opinion is a very slippery slope and extremely dangerous for our society. I think that Sterling has a legitimate legal case of discrimination to present. His lynching was for an accusation that can only be brought against his race in this country. Other races are immune to being labeled what he was labeled. The dialogue in question was private and not meant for anybody other than his cheating girlfriend, but the unethical and illegal acquisition of this dialog is not really the big problem. The problem here is that Sterling is actually the one who is being discriminated against because of his race and skin color. In order for anybody from Sterling's race to even talk about the situation, they have to recite a disclaimer of some sort condemning the content of Sterling's dialog to protect themselves from being labeled a racist themselves. Kinda like what I had to do in the second sentence of this thread. Does any other race need to do this? Even to say this much on this thread, I have to fear that somebody is going to comb it and analyze it to see if there is any possible way to make me out to be a racist. If anybody from Sterling's race posts any kind of response to this here, I am confident that it will be written with extreme caution.

The Ophra and her minion want that basketball team. She will do what ever it takes to get ahold of it. Too bad a 80 year old geezer has to be targeted for her new adventure. I say if she wants a basketball team, then she needs to spend some of her millions to buy it, not steal it away from a guy who has THE RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVER HE WANTS TO SAY.

Last time I looked, we live in America. We are allowed to do or say anything as long as it doesn't hurt somebody. Too bad if somebody got his "feelings" hurt by Sterlings remarks. Get over it and grow some thicker skin. This world is full of bad folks and once people start standing up for thier rights, then there will be no need for the perpetual nanny state to "guide everybody through life".

BTW, if Ophra does get the team, I bet she will be a skin flint with the salaries to the players.

There's not a whole lot to add, you've summed it up pretty well. The most evil character in the whole mess is the girlfriend.

(Just came back in and edited something in case there's any combing going on.) :tornado:

Sterling stands to make a HUGE chunk of change if he were to sell the team. With so many people vying to buy the team the price he can ask will be tremendous.
He wins!

Nope..

He bought the team a few years ago for about twenty million bucks. Its now worth around $550M. Capital gains would be close to $225M. The government screws a business man and Oprha rushes in to fill a void she created. Gotta love 'merika.
