ORIENTATION COURSE SUMMARY - When you want to set your privacy options in Blackboard, you should go to Personal Information. - In Blackboard, the Tool includes some things like Calendar, Tasks, Announcements, not Photo Gallery. - In the welcome letter, the e-mail address of the Dean of Students is poche.waguespack@columbiasouthern.edu. - In the Announcements section within each course in Blackboard, there are 3 methods to view: Institution (or System), Course and View All. - The expectation of a graduate student includes effective writing skill, critical thinking skill, problem solving skill, not memorization of facts without critical thinking. - The writing assignments are an opportunity for critical thinking, data analysis, and problem solving. - In Blackboard, you can click on My Course and then find Tools where you can click on Tasks for prioritizing your course work. - In composing written response answers, you are not suggested “If you use spell-check, you do not need to proofread.” - From My Grades you can view your grades and feedback from professor. - You should save your written response to your own computer to have a copy for your records and in case you lose your Internet connection before submitting. - To plan and organize for essay writing, you can use either or all of formal outline, informal outline and graphic organizer. - An organized folder/file structure includes a series of folders specifically named to locate documents. - The preferred method of communication at CSU is e-mail. - Four steps in the essay writing process are (1) plan and organize, (2) draft, (3) edit and (3) revise. - The CSU web-site is www.columbiasouthern.edu. - To make sure of getting CSU school work complete, students should develop a personal schedule for study and assignment work time. - A time management plan organizes events in order of priority. - In an essay, a transition creates flow from one paragraph to the next. - A thesis statement is a principle statement from which the rest of the essay should go. - To maximize brainstorming, a good strategy for writing the first draft of an essay is to write without editing. - In myCSU Student Portal, you choose Policies to go to Institutional Policies where you can find the violation cases of the Academic Integrity Policy inclusive of (1) resubmitting a paper that has already been submitted for another course, (2) collaborating on an assignment that is not described as a group assignment, and (3) sharing information related to the related assignments. - The Verification Enrollment is not available in both online and print formats of the Enrollment forms. - In order to be in Good Standing, the graduate student should maintain the minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. - The Student Portal gives information of how to contact professors, access grade report, view percentage grades and letter grades, and course names and numbers. - The web addresses for the main CSU website and the myCSU Student Portal are www.columbiasouthern.edu and www.mycsu.columbiasouthern.edu/student. - From Success Center, students can expect assistance with finding answers to their questions in the math center and guidance on writing papers in the writing center. However, students should not expect to be given the answers to problems or have a paper written for them. - In Student Portal, students can find such information as Known Blackboard, FAQs, Browser Help and Setup. - In the Student E-mails section of the myCSU Student Portal, the domain columbiasouthern.edu allows students to e-mail. - The easiest and most convenient place the student should begin searching for articles to be used as sources is the Research Database through the CSU Online Library. - In Success Center, the tutoring services are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. |
