Seems fair to me. They could have gone the PSD path had they really wanted to and pick 28 was the best they had to give.
We were never going to get pick 6. I don't think it was a necessary interview. Why admit they could have screwed up over more. Why admit that people were pushing them to not deal with us.

I agree. I think Port's conduct was entirely fair. Ebert put us over the barrel by his actions and gave Port the opportunity to take him in PSD. I guess we'll never know whether GC/GWS would have taken him had he gone in the PSD, but I don't think they would have. I also have no problem with Ebert saying he only wanted to go to Port, provided he also made it clear to Port that if they didn't ensure West Coast were fairly compensated he would not nominate for the PSD.
From what I've read it certainly appears to be the case that Ebert wanted a reasonable trade to be negotiated.
Hard to fault anyone in all this tbh

As far as list management is concerned I was under the impression that we need only delist one more, which surely will be Dalziell.
Bones (retired) Wilson (told he wouldn't be offered new contract) Ebert (traded) Dalziell? (delisted)
Hill (traded) Hams (upgraded) Pick 23 Pick 28
Leaves us with 3 rookie spots to fill.

I choose to blame Ebert and will continue to feel aggrieved until Ebert's first OOTF as a Port player.

PORT Adelaide says it wanted to do the right thing by West Coast in trading for young midfielder Brad Ebert, rather than picking him up through the pre-season draft.
Ebert was traded to the Power today, as part of a three-way deal which sent Port premiership veterans Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan to Greater Western Sydney.
The Power gave the Eagles national draft picks No.28 and No.49, in exchange for 21-year-old Ebert, who had wanted to return home to South Australia and the club where he has a strong family connection.
Cornes, 31, and Brogan, 32 - both unwanted by Port Adelaide - were bundled with national draft pick No.69 by the Power, in return for selection No.49 from the Giants, which was then used as part of the Ebert deal.
"Obviously, we had the option of forcing (Ebert) through to the pre-season draft, we could have maybe got him for less then," Power football manager Peter Rohde said."But Brad himself and we were keen to do the right thing by West Coast, we were keen to get him to our club as quickly as possible and start pre-season, so all those things come into it.
"Some people encouraged us to force him through to the pre-season draft and pick him up then, but I don't think that's good for the industry."
Lmfao. Funny how the article doesn't even mention that we gave them pick 45 as well as Ebert.

Funny how the article doesn't even mention that we gave them pick 45 as well as Ebert. Whilst I think that Port were being a little churlish with pick 45, in the overall scheme of things it only really hurt the Bulldogs as they would have ended up with 45 for Hill rather than 49.

We got screwed..... I agree with Marlin. If it was 28 & 49 then it would have been fair. But to have to use 45 to get 28 that is a screw job of the highest order. A young Player with 50+ games who was taken in the top 20 of a uncompromised draft, (regardless of name) should always require a equal pick to what he was drafted at. If he hadn't played a game or had played stuff all games then a decrease would have been fair.
The least Ebo could have done is said if Wce don't get fair compensation then in will resign for 1 year with them. At least this would have given us some bargaining power but to go to a club with basically the earliest possible psd pick and say hey I wanna come home, make it happen....screwed.
Also from what I understand GWS wasnt going to give up their last first rounder unless port down graded their first round pick. Apparently GWS wanted the top 10 picks. Port screwed us and kept their pick. Even more reason to hate them now...

How many ND picks are we likely to use We usually only use 3, but with selections 23, 28 then 60 something, what are the odds of us only using two
