Lol Wilson almost had me fooled at the end of 2010. My judgement was weakened by a horrible year of football, safe to say my original assumption was correct. Linear.

@ Ebert ah dont you love it when people just look at the pick number. let me give you a hint, PLAYERS DONT CHOOSE THEIR OWN DRAFT NUMBER!!!! I think you just continually want something new and fresh and once you see what you have and it isnt a superstar you craved, you just want to get rid of them for something new and fresh. people think pick 28 will deliver someone that can play AFL guaranteed. ebert will play 250 games. you trying to tell me we will draft better with 28? if we do, it will be by luck. for every darling there are 40 spanghers and mckinleys. |

I know Brad didn't choose to go at 13, I didn't say he did. The HS article I was talking about said we were dudded because we lost a player taken at pick 13. I found them saying we were huge losers because he was pick 13 years ago strange, as he's not that good imo...So it's irrelevant to the player he is now and the player we lost. Also, if you read my post you'd see I don't want or expect a Darling at 28....Just a player whose mistakes aren't so frequent and from attempting such basic things, such as kicking. He averaged only 13 touches this year and when you commit as many stupid errors as Brad and aren't a great goal-kicker, it's tough to find a spot for you...That's why he was dropped from our team. I don't care if you rate him higher than me and think he'll play 250 substandard games....I'm not sad to see him go and no-one will change my view of him....Save for Brad actually playing at a level you think he's already at. |

Justin So if they identify a really good player available at 28 and think he's worthy of that pick...If he becomes better than Brad it's just luck?...Could be good recruiting. They will not just be pulling names and numbers out of their stinking arsehole like you do...With your Ebert will play 250 games and for 1 Darling there are exactly 40 Spanghers and McKinleys. |

The Herald Sun article on our trade week was just pure crap. They say we copped the dud deal of trade week....because whilst Ebert is 'no star', he was pick 13....Yeah but the thing is HS, he plays nothing like a pick 13 should in theory. Last year the same folks were saying he was a failed first rounder and wasn't improving etc. Still pretty much that same player. Now we can get in a player like Stevens or Strijk/Hams who can stay on their feet, make quicker decisions and execute them more often than not....Added bonus is the exit of momentum breaking and cringe worthy mistakes. If we select a player at 28 who can do the basic, fundamental things we're in-front. If they're a dud, it's about even. Hill.....Well I hope he gives a crap with us. |

One Club, One Aim

Well forget that then and reference this trade period. Jordan Lisle (5 games, 21yo) get pick 29. Jack Gunston (14 games, 20 y.o.) get pick 24. Bard Ebert (76 games, 21yo) get pick 28 (plus a 4 pick downgrade in the 40's). YEAH, WE GOT THE DUD DEAL OF THE TRADING PERIOD!!!! |

The difference being that Lisle & Gunston have real potential. We've seen what Ebert can deliver and in 78 games he's failed to live up to expectations. It's no longer about potential with Ebert - he's past that. I reckon we did ok out of trade week on balance. Hill has skill so he can offer something if he knuckles down. Being home & with a point to prove may be the difference. Keeping Koby the big win

Josh Kennedy's supremacy

Langdon asked Longmuir where Callum Wilson fits in with the forward set-up next year. Longmuir said "Ah, nowhere, because he's been delisted". Then he proceeded with something along the lines of "Hasn't it been announced? I'm fairly sure it has been". Was quite funny, actually. Poor lad, I hope he knew. I'd be quite happy to pick him up as a rookie. I could see him getting a few games throughout the year in our forward line. |
