Ebert: We would have to be involved in a threesome for us to get something that would actually benefit us. Cannot see Port giving up pick 6 or Adelaide giving up pick 10, best home we would have is Ports pick 26.
Masten: Won't leave unless its to GWS in which case we may get ourselves a pick in the mini draft and a possible shot at O'Meara

Gee guys come on. I reckon the talk of letting Ebert go is madness, we've made way to big an investment and no way could we trade to what his value is worth. I hope Woosha can talk him around, even if its true that the may consider moving.
Ebert can take a great mark, he has a hard body and runs all day and his skill has improved. Might be some areas he has to work on over the summer, he just needs to find a way to motivate himself to do some extra work

Ebert is definitely a player that will be used heavily in our future but I also believe he is replaceable because our forward line is currently our strongest point. If we were to lose Ebert and get either a high draft pick or a good midfielder in return, I don't see it as that big of a loss, if anything it can be a win.
There is players that could jump up and replace Ebert up forward, whereas the midfield we really need our best in there otherwise we look vulnerable.
Either way if nothing of value is put on the table for us, I wouldn't mind seeing him be retained on the list. He does seem to have a lot of mates around the team, I can see him becoming a good half forward flanker for us in the coming years. Hopefully taking over Lynch's current role as a hit up role

He spent more time in the middle in the past years and I don't think we've seen the best of him when playing in the middle.

We need a dangerous player, Ebert isn't even remotely dangerous.

both trash, get rid of
"trash" why are they trash, please elaborate or do not participate in the discussions.... We need to work some magical deal with Gold Coast that could see us get Brandon Matera, happy for anyone to fill in the blanks. We're talking in terms of "sell that, buy that" type stuff to make it happen. And if you are going to start doing that, wouldn't you bid for David Swallow? Time to accept that the all-too-likely reality that Brandon Matera is never going to be running around in a West Coast jumper. Forget the cost for now but seriously Gold Coast is a team glory-bound and all the youngsters know it, nobody would want out and he hasn't even signaled that he wants to come home

Also add to that he has had to play a new role this year in a new game plan. He spent more time in the middle in the past years and I don't think we've seen the best of him when playing in the middle. Ebert is a surplus to all requirements. Through years 2009 and 2010 it was obvious that we cannot have him playing in the midfield, in 2011 it proved how the midfield functioned without him playing in that role.
Ebert is suited to a forward pocket role, much like his younger brother. And Jack is the younger, more talented, more athletic, better kick, better mark - straight up honesty: better everything. (Yes JD, gloat if you like) Ebert will never become as good as LeCras or Kennedy or nearly any other forward we have.
I simply can't see where Ebert fits in. Look at the "best 200" that played against Geelong. You still have Rosa out of the side to play that wing/high half forward role, Ash Smith who may well be ahead of Ebert not to mention players like Hams and Strijk who have as much potential.
Ebert is in our select 30 and unfortunately I'm not sure how much improvement, if any improvement is left in his game. His kicking resembles ROJO (sorry ROJO, I really do like you) and therefore isn't fixable like other kicks may be.
