Gee guys come on. I reckon the talk of letting Ebert go is madness, we've made way to big an investment and no way could we trade to what his value is worth. I hope Woosha can talk him around, even if its true that the may consider moving.

Ebert can take a great mark, he has a hard body and runs all day and his skill has improved. Might be some areas he has to work on over the summer, he just needs to find a way to motivate himself to do some extra work
I agree. Ebert is definitely a player that will be used heavily in our future but I also believe he is replaceable because our forward line is currently our strongest point. If we were to lose Ebert and get either a high draft pick or a good midfielder in return, I don't see it as that big of a loss, if anything it can be a win.

There is players that could jump up and replace Ebert up forward, whereas the midfield we really need our best in there otherwise we look vulnerable.

Either way if nothing of value is put on the table for us, I wouldn't mind seeing him be retained on the list. He does seem to have a lot of mates around the team, I can see him becoming a good half forward flanker for us in the coming years. Hopefully taking over Lynch's current role as a hit up role
Also add to that he has had to play a new role this year in a new game plan. He spent more time in the middle in the past years and I don't think we've seen the best of him when playing in the middle.
Ebert is a surplus to all requirements. Through years 2009 and 2010 it was obvious that we cannot have him playing in the midfield, in 2011 it proved how the midfield functioned without him playing in that role.

Ebert is suited to a forward pocket role, much like his younger brother. And Jack is the younger, more talented, more athletic, better kick, better mark - straight up honesty: better everything. (Yes JD, gloat if you like) Ebert will never become as good as LeCras or Kennedy or nearly any other forward we have.

I simply can't see where Ebert fits in. Look at the "best 200" that played against Geelong. You still have Rosa out of the side to play that wing/high half forward role, Ash Smith who may well be ahead of Ebert not to mention players like Hams and Strijk who have as much potential.

Ebert is in our select 30 and unfortunately I'm not sure how much improvement, if any improvement is left in his game. His kicking resembles ROJO (sorry ROJO, I really do like you) and therefore isn't fixable like other kicks may be.
Agreed. But you wouldn't want to feel responsible for getting rid of a potentially damaging player.

Ebert has his bonuses around the ground. He is our best ground contested mark, in my opinion. Very strong body for a running player, we're not near yet to see the best of him. It wasn't long ago people bagged on Rosa, now he has over a hundred games and would we swap him? Absolutely not. Well everyone except for the girls.

Would think Tom Swift is in line to be delisted or traded before Ebert or Masten.

Eagles will also be factoring any older players who may be retiring in the next years.

If Ebert does ho I would hope we get some quality in return for him. By that I mean Adelaide's first rounder or a mid-rounder from Melbourne, if not he will make an impact in years to come playing that high half forward role.

Decision needs to be weighed up because even as depth players who would you rather play in the midfield. Ebert, Swift, Dalziell or Stevens?

Good question really ay. Honestly right now Id want Ebert then Stevens but as long as longer-term development and potential goes, Swift has the upside and then maybe Stevens, cant see Dalziell playing any role.

For mine, we have a cluster of mids that can probably range in our 20-27 type list: ebert/masten/rosa/swift/stevens/sheppard. Depending on how the market ends up playing out, it might be a case of picking the 4 of them and continuing to develop and building our depth and then use 2 of them for potentiall trade needs?
