Ebert's Manager to play hard Ball with trade , only to PA and the likelyhood of PSD is nearly nil .

This article suggests Eagles may deal for pick 29 early Monday to then stake a claim for Clark with possibly Masten suggested as trade bait to Brisbane !???

After the entire Judd ordeal and the way Carlton dealt with us was incredibility bitter of them. Then the rumours of Kerr moving to Carlton the year later surfaced journalists asking Woosha what he would want for Kerr and he told them Kruezer, Gibbs, Murphy and Judd. The truth is if clubs are fair with us, we're going to be fair with them. We gave a very good compo picks to get Chick and Stenglein and took less than what was deserved on Gehrig and Judd. When a fringe player we know has little chance of getting what he wants and then requests a trade, as a club we do everything to accommodate the player.

Take, McKinley, Spanger, Staker and Seaby. We never try to screw other clubs over.

What I'm trying to say is that if Port screw us over this time, they're only hurting themselves. Because when free agency comes into play and all these pathetic little clubs who require AFL handouts to remain alive are going to go nowhere. We have the better facilities, we have the better supporters, we have the money. Now that I know what happened with Carlton and the Visy deal, I'm sure the management at SGIO is just licking their lips in turn with West Coast.
Sounds good in theory but

a) When it comes to player payments, having lots of money doesn't really help because of the salary cap.

b) Our facilities are actually pretty middle-of-the-road by AFL standards these days.

c) I think you'll find that some of the Victorian clubs have some pretty good sponsors. Not that it really matters. By and large, the AFL regulate player payments pretty closely.

Do you honestly think that free agency will change things that much? The main purpose is to stop situations like Jade Rawlings or Nick Stevens. It's not going to allow us to snag a big name like, say, Franklin.

Tyberious it was more a venting than anything else. However our facilities are alot better than a few other clubs i could mention. And in regards to players wanting to come here, with a new stadium hopefully coming soon, very loyal supporter base and pretty deep pockets in regards to spending on the football department we are poised alot more than other clubs to strike. The reason i mention sponsers was merely a dig at Judd.

Some further news on Mark Harvey

http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/eagles-eye-mark-harvey-for-assistant-role/story-e6frg1xu-1226162021045

Woosha on the prospects of employing Harvey

Investigating if Harvey is keen to be part of the Eagles coaching staff after reportedly being disenchanted with the AFL scene .

Sounds like Harvey is keen to stay in Perth and some role will be offered if Harvey is keen ! Big If again ???

The AFL really needs to allow teams more creativity when trading picks.

How easily could we set up a trade with Port if they could trade us the next pick they get between say 17 and 25?

We might have to wait a few years before they got such a pick but at least we wouldn't be forced to take a discount, as we are now.

I think Harvey would be a good replacement. Who else is on the market?

If pick 28 is all we can get, then best get it done early Monday so we can have a crack at Mitch Clark.

Poor Ebert.

Arm chair ride for 70 games? I remember how Masten and Swift went on a half forward flank. I remember Stevens' games this year.

Ebert isn't as bad as we think and the guys he kept out of the team aren't as good (sadly).
