Agreed I simply can't see why we would need him. Perhaps to play the roaming role at CHF when Lynch departs? |

More news on the Mitch Clark affair: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/sport/eagles-ready-to-swoop-on-clark-fremantle-bid-could-be-trumped/story-e6frg7mf-1226159629080 Noticed this quote
Who could the quality player possibly be? We all know Vossy is fond of Tom Swift but he isn't exactly "quality" Also interesting that Port is going to put a pledge for Brent Renouf rather than Griffen, possibly making it a pain for us. |

Didn't see that one coming at all. Are we trying to be idiots just to up his value and have a chance at someone else? Honestly Mitch Clark is potentially a handy player but do we really need him in our list? Our ruck division is already stacked and Clark is not exactly a proven key forward. If we are interested in him maybe we are thinking him as a key defender? Perhaps bringing him here could open the chance of sending both Lycett and Ebert in a trade deal back to South Australia which would create an opening for him and give us a chance to steal pick 6, potentially another midfielder in what is a weak draft. Those are the only explanations I can come up with, can't really see otherwise as to why we would be interested in Clark. There is a variety of players who would be handy additions but on that list is not a pinch-hitting forward or another back-up ruckman. Or am I missing something? |

Very good points. I think by all means he is a required player. We have Nic Naitanui as succession post-Cox however we don't really know what Lycett may be worth. Your three way deal would mean that Port would also have to send something up to Brisbane, perhaps a second rounder? Doubt they would be keen on also ridding themselves of pick 28. I can't see us asking Lycett to part ways with the club yet though. What about Quinten Lynch? We haven't heard much about him, his out of contract maybe he is on the move. Mitch Clark would be the perfect replacement for Lynch, has more talent and can play the CHF fole better. |

I'm thinking that maybe we're trying to drive the price up from our friends down the road. Could only think of that being the reasoning or perhaps Lycett as you've said could be used as a way in dealing with either of the Adelaide clubs. |

We should have a real shopping list here. I still think we should be targeting Port Adelaide's pick 6. Do the Lions have any compensation picks left from Risa/Brennan? Maybe they can send something to Port. What could we be possibly offloading other than Ebert (who is gone), Lycett. Koby Stevens has been talked about but he'll only go to Melbourne, everyone knows Vossy has had a soft spot for Swift since he was a 16 year old. Maybe Lynch is going somewhere? Maybe Lynch could be heading to GWS? That would put is in the bidding for the mini draft, we would have to throw in something with it, even pick 2 in the mini-draft may get us crumber which is something we desperately need. Ebert is our bargaining chip in this trade week. Unless there is some other crazy deal that nobody can detect going on behind the scenes. If Lycett does want to head home and Lynch wants to go to GWS, Clark would be ample compensation. I just hope we get a decent draft pick and a place in the mini-draft as well. |

Can't GWS get Lynch for free if they had interest in him? |

They could get him for free and there is no doubt GWS if interested would potentially offer considerably more cash than what we have. We all know he would be a handy pick up for them. May be the reason we're interested in Clark. |

Bare in mind however that West Coast and Lynch are in the box seat, GWS may be unable to pinch Lynch because West Coast and Lynch have agreed to making GWS give up draft picks (mini draft picks) for him. It's the healthy culture our club has developed in recent years. |

The "suitable" player could surely not be Thomas Swift? |
