I don't want Clark for one reason and one reason alone. He's a rubbish full time forward, he was Brisbane's number one tall forward for most of 2011 and kicked a massive 27 goals. I know they had no other targets but what's being suggest is that he takes over from Lynch. 2009 was his best season. He had over 500 hitouts and should have really kicked on in 2010/11 to become one of the premier ruckmen in the comp. If we pick up where does he play in 2012? Id love him if Cox was retiring and we needed a ruck to work with Naitanui. We don't and we have Lycett developing in the WAFL. |

We need a WAussie to address us on his WAFL ability, because we don't really know that unfortunately. |

I've seen him twice on T.V in the WAFL, twice at the Champs (live) and his debut (at the game). Not that much, but I know he's a great athlete, I know he can obviously play and since being drafted all I hear is how driven/competitive he is and how hard he trains etc. Obviously you can see I rate him very highly. But my OP won't mean much

Well for what it's worth It's hard to argue with what you're saying but I want to make some notes to illustrate that it's not as cut and dry as that. 1. Yes, he only kicked 27 goals but he played just 17 games. 1.6 goals per game isn't too bad; for 22 games it's 35 goals. We only had 2 players kick more than 1.6 goals per game (LeCras and Kennedy - Nicoski kicked 1.6). Also, Brisbane won just 4 games. Hard to kick goals when your team sucks. 2. RE: Kicking on as a ruckman, I think Clark was probably a victim of Brisbane having Luey, who couldn't play forward as well as Clark can. Hence, Luey got the ruck and Clark drew the short straw. Granted, Clark would have to be a back up ruck with us in the long term as well. 3. I reckon we'll need Clark for when Cox and Lynch leave us. I'm not completely sold on Lycett yet. Perhaps I'm the only one

For the record, I don't think we have the spare parts to get Clark. |

Was wondering where Mitch/Brett went from the Sports forum... I know that not many will agree with me. That is fine. I honestly don't see what the hype is with Clark. I rate Lycett higher as I believe he has the greater potential of the two. From what I have seen in the WAFL, I believe he can be an incredible player for us. A fantastic mark, great leap, not afraid to crash a contest, very creative, footy smarts and great below his knees. His rucking needs work, yes, but I think we can provide him with the best teacher in Cox. (His ruck work isn't terrible, before he was drafted he was reported to have very good hands in the ruck.) He will take a few years to develop. Patience is the key with all big men. I see Lycett as more of a 'footballer' and Clark as an 'athlete'. I believe that when he takes over from Cox, we will once again have that ruck balance of footballer/athlete with Lycett/Naitanui. Yes I do believe that Cox is more a footballer than athlete ![]() Like I said, these are my opinions. You can memorse me all you want for them, but I stick by them.

I didn't say anything about rating Lycett. I don't have a firm opinion on Lycett. I don't think we've seen enough of him at AFL level to know how he'll go, that's all. He carries more uncertainty than does Clark. It's all moot, anyway - can't see us getting Clark. |
