I would have liked someone external, given we lost the experience of Sumich... Some new blood in the box would have been useful imo.
Mmm, I don't know.. Jlo has been there during the development of this side, and might not be such a bad choice given he knows our press etc.
Would say, given his previous role, he may have a broad knowledge of our strategies and can pickup the deeper details of this role sooner than someone new.
True, and without being in the club's inner sanctum it is difficult to know, however you would have assumed that development coaches such as Longmuir would have already had input (just not final say) into strategies etc... Promoting internally just reeks of Woosha surrounding himself with yes men which was the issue pre Burns and Walsh.

It reminds me of when Metropolis was heavily involved, didn't really add a lot imo.

I hope I am wrong, and will be interested to see who they replace Longmuir with in due course.

EDIT: Another thing that concerns me is we have replaced a 43 year old senior assistant with head WAFL coaching experience and AFL assistant coaching experience for 10 years, with a 30 year old untried development coach... Doesn't that concern anyone else?

I can still see Mark Harvey as a development Coach ,... Woosha said he would like to speak to Harvey about a role with the club .

Harvey in a developmental position with the younger players would be suitable ????

Hopefully, we appoint another development coach. Like having a performance coach + development coach for each line.

Doesn't concern me at all...Burns, Teague and Longmuir are all young/new and the majority of our team is the same. They'll be good communicators and down with current footy being fresh out of the game. He's also not untried, he was development coach at Freo and West Perth and has a year under his belt here.

Let's be honest, most fans wouldn't have a clue what impact (positive or negative) the assistant coaches have.....We can only pretty much go on the results....He was development coach last year, and I think we all saw a huge improvement in just about every individual, so big tick imo.

Worsfold and Walsh are older, if that makes you feel better.

i myself hate freo and was never a fan of mark harvey as a senior coach,
but i see any club who can have a former senior coach as an assistant a huge bonus.

his experience in charge as well as the years he spent being groomed by kevin sheedy surely have to count for something?

He announced that Callum Wilson had been delisted, and the club hadnt even told him. Poor kid, probably heard that he'd been sacked over the radio. Caused an awkward silence on the radio...
