With the advent of Emperor Galin's "new Valadia," the Empire decided to create a formal diplomatic service for the first time. Prior to Galin's taking power, the Valadian government simply appointed nobles as needed to represent the Empire abroad. These nobles were typically poorly trained (if trained at all) in the niceties of international relations, and it showed in the poor results Valadian diplomacy (or lack of it) achieved in the years before the conflict involving Valadia and much of Catena prior to Galin's taking the throne. Under the new Emperor, the Empire took cues from its neighbors, creating a foreign service whose ambassadors were both properly trained to deal with other nations, and given sufficient plenipotentiary power to actually do things, unlike their predecessors under Andellaias. The following is a list of Valadian representation abroad.
