Greetings, and welcome to the Collective Isles!

This forum hosts a play-by-post roleplaying game set in a multiverse by that same name, the Collective Isles. Players create characters and interact through them in-game. Whether you're a seasoned veteran in the roleplaying world or a complete beginner, we're happy to have you here.

A wide range of skills are open to all characters, as we don't employ a rigid class system here. Based on the four core attributes of strength, vitality, agility, and willpower, characters can master weapons, heighten their senses, improve their reflexes, study the seven elements of magic, and more.

Our system is designed to enable characters to advance indefinitely. We utilize a level system, but there's no ceiling; your character can continue to learn new skills and improve existing ones as long as he or she continues to accumulate in-game experience.

Make sure you read our forum rules (here) and familiarize yourself with the Zetaboards terms of service. Both of these are important in keeping the game fun for everyone.

Before participating in the roleplay, players must submit at least a character application. This helps ensure fairness and the consistency of the game setting. If you're interested, you should read the character application template (here) and post your application in the character applications subforum (here). A staff member will review the application as soon as possible and provide feedback. If everything checks out, your character will be approved and immediately available for roleplaying.

Currently, the world of Lariona is the most active. New players should consider creating characters there, although it's perfectly fine to join another world. A mechanism does exist for moving between worlds, but you'll learn about that soon enough. Read up on existing worlds (here) to see if one grabs your interest. Otherwise, why not create your own world? We have some suggestions for new world applications (here) that may be helpful before you submit your idea. As always, be sure to post the world application in the appropriate subform (here). I'll read over your application personally and share my thoughts. Keep in mind fairness to other players when creating your world (what would happen if technology or resources from your world were taken to another?) and everything else should follow.

Finally, you might take a look at current story data (here). This contains information relevant to the game timeline and all worlds in general. If you're wondering how travel between worlds works, the thread on pristinium should be particularly useful.

There's a lot of information to absorb, so feel free to ask questions! This helps us improve the game experience for new players. Introduce yourself in the general discussion forum or in our dedicated IRC channel.

On the cusp between worlds I wait,
Beckoning the storm to end all storms.
