In the moments before Aru saw three suns blazing in the sky above her, she had been surrounded by darkness and felt like she had down a trap door and out another. At first sight Aru mistook the three suns as a hallucination, maybe from hitting her head, though she didn't feel like she had hit anything or passed out. Aru squeezed her eyes shut, three suns still shining brightly back at her when she opened them again. Aru jumped up to her feet, checking to make sure her spear was still in its place, then smiled at the forest encircling her.

"Legend!" Aru said with excitement, looking left, right, and over each shoulder multiple times before realizing her partner was nowhere to be found. Now Aru was the one in a distant land with nothing but her wits to rely on.

After surveying her surroundings, still searching primarily for any sign of Legend, Aru realized how enormous the trees around her actually were. Jungle trees may have reached a similar height in Lariona, but their trunks were never as massive these. Aru approached the largest of the trees she could pick out and gazed up at the towering giant. Branch after branch circled around and jetted out from the tree trunk, a tuft of green leaves growing from the ends.

A foot caught Aru's eye, hanging over a branch further up the tree. The leather slippers that Aru had made for Legend hung in view, though much too far out of reach.

"Legeeeend!" Aru called up the tree, her voice resonating in the silent forest. "Why are you climbing a tree?!"

Aru's noisy complaints were the first sounds to reach his ears when Legend awakened from his briefly unconscious state. His eyes rolled forward amid a swimming visual field, and gradually, the green and reddish-brown shapes came together into sensible forms. He lay face down on a thick branch high above the ground with groups of evergreen needles pricking most of his bare torso. His arms, which hung limp on either side of the branch, tingled when he willed them to move. Without proper circulation, they had fallen more soundly asleep than Legend himself. He stared at the bloody scrapes across his open palms and muttered a groan. Clearly, however he ended up here, it didn't go well.

Legend finally realized the source of the shouting - his guest from another world, Aru. He gripped the redwood branch with his shredded hands and peered over the edge. When he spotted her on the ground, he grimaced.

"What are you doing down there?" he called back.

"I never came up. I have been down since we arrived in Oshura." Aru called back, more confused now. Legend hadn't said anything about having to climb trees regularly in Oshura, but he was the native. She wasn't sure what climbing trees would accomplish at the moment.

"Am I.." Aru tilted her head, trying to find all of Legend's body past the branches. "Am I supposed to come up?" she asked, noticing there weren't any branches relatively close to her height. "How did you even manage to get up there?" Aru changed her question, a frown growing on her face.

"I don't know!" Legend protested. He focused on maintaining balance as he shifted into a sitting position on the sturdy branch. His chest was still sore from the impact, but fortunately, it didn't feel as though any ribs had broken. Somehow, his bag had come off his back in the transition from Lariona to this world. Legend turned his eyes upward and scanned the foliage.

"Do you see my backpack anywhere down there?" he called a little louder. The search didn't seem to yield any results on his end, but then again, a thick layer of green needles blocked his view. If only he had preserved enough magic to rustle the tree...

Legend gripped the thick trunk and tested his weight. The rough bark against his raw hands was painful, but he had to confirm whether his bag followed them into Oshura. If not - without even a dollar to his name - he would have to find replacement tools.

Aru stared up at Legend for a long time before taking a second look around her area on ground. There was no sight of the bag that Legend had been carrying on his back, but a strip of jaguar skin stood out from between the greenery of some bushes.

Aru walked over to the collection of thick bushes and pushed the thing branches away from the yellow spotted strip of hide. Attached to the end was Legend's pick, and only his pick. Aru tore it out of the bush, ripping away leaves and twigs as it ripped through the plant.

"I found this!" Aru called out when she returned to the base of Legend's tree. "But this is it!" she finished, waving the pick back and forth in the air so Legend could see.

Legend nearly lost his balance craning his neck to identify the item. He tightened his grip despite the pain and held on.

"Keep looking!" he shouted. "I'm going to check further up!" Legend tried to pull himself half a foot higher on the trunk, but his foot snapped off bark when he shifted his weight. He tore bark out with his hands as well and immediately dropped backward. Desperate for anything at all to catch him, Legend seized a long branch jutting off the main one. The needles popped off as his fingers slid down its length. In no time at all, the damage to his palms doubled. The secondary branch snapped while he still had several feet beneath him.

A bit of deja vu swept Legend's memory; just a short time ago, he had fallen into this tree from a window between two worlds, and now he was falling again. He bent his knees as he landed to better brace for the impact, but it still left his legs throbbing all the way up to the thighs as though someone had taken a hammer to his knees. Legend stumbled backward onto his back after the ungraceful landing.

"Never mind..." he muttered.

During the fall Aru was speechless, watching as Legend tumbled to the ground.Aru rushed to Legend's side and crouched down beside him. She held his pick with both hands and leaned over him, carefully examining his face for any injuries. She didn't see much besides a few small scratches, but when she caught a glimpse of his hands she frowned.

"Are you alright?" Aru asked, placing the pick on the ground and grabbing one of Legend's wrists instead. The skin was torn, dry, and ripped, but nothing they couldn't take care of. "You shouldn't hold onto the tree while you are falling. You do that when you climb, Legend."

"How come I'm the one who always falls from the sky?" Legend grumbled under his breath. He unsteadily rose to his feet and shared Aru's concerned look at his bloody hands. The thought of holding his pickaxe with these burning scrapes and bruises brought another frown to his lips.

"I'll be fine, but half of my belongings are missing. That bag must be somewhere in the tree if it's not down here." He shot the amazon a helpless look. "You're better at climbing than I am... Do you think you could get it?"

At first Aru considered the idea, looking around for a suitable tree to climb, but not a single one had vines, or low branches. The bark also looked rough and by the look of Legend's hands could scratch her up just as badly. Aru winced at the thought of her skin tearing, looking at the bite mark she had received from the Jaguar in Largo.

"I don't think I could start climbing, even if I wanted to." Aru admitted, sighing at Legend. "Forgive me for that." she nodded, trying to smile at him.

Legend regretfully stared into the stiff needles of the redwood tree. That made two bags lost since leaving Glandive - but perhaps he could make another attempt to retrieve this one after his magic returned.

"It's alright," he decided. "Let's take a look around the area. I'm not really sure where we are, but it's probably Oshura." The triplet suns blazing in the sky were unmistakable. Unless they fell into another world with the same number of suns, Legend was confident he had returned to his native world. He didn't recognize the red bark on these trees, however...

Wincing, Legend picked up his pickaxe. The pain dulled as soon as he gripped the tool's wooden handle, but that first contact stung more fiercely than he expected. He forced a smile for Aru's sake.

"I guess I should welcome you since you're my guest... Welcome to Oshura, Aru."
