"Much better than being alone." Aru replied, collapsing in the grass next to Legend. She, unlike Legend, wasn't use to staying up all day, but taking frequent naps through out. The amazonian curled into a ball, pulling her legs close to her torso. "It gets dark so early, and your stars are different." Aru commented, her eyes searching for familiar star formations in the sky without any luck. She gave up on that quickly, rationality telling her that she wouldn't be able to identify a single one. "It is colder here as well." Aru tried not to complain, but the warm nights in Lari were all she typically lived through. During the long periods of rain, Aru was used to curling up next to a fire place and sprawling out on a bear skin rug. A breeze blew over her exposed skin, sending a shiver down Aru's spine in the cool night. Edited by Aru, Sep 3 2012, 05:32 PM.

"It'll be colder in Faust," Legend said in fair warning. Hopefully, they could bundle up somewhat on their way north. It didn't matter during daylight hours, but the temperature was nothing like he remembered at night - perhaps as much as ten degrees warmer. "Sleep well," he whispered. Though Legend closed his eyes, it took the following two hours to join Aru in dreamland. The next morning, Legend awakened pressed against Aru. The startled man recoiled at once and scooted a few inches away to erase the evidence. Obviously, he had unconsciously moved toward the nearest source of warmth - her body heat - but it brought to mind that night in Largo when they shared Aru's mattress. His awareness of cultural norms had intensified since returning to his native world. Before waking her, Legend paused and watched the girl's innocent sleeping face. He thought with a smile how reassuring it was to have her along. He glanced up at the faint light in the sky. The suns hadn't quite risen yet, but their light was sufficient to see by. If he hurried, he could still find a place to observe the Oshuran sunrise. "Aru," he said quietly while nudging her shoulder. "Wake up. I want to show you something." |

Aru stirred, turning her head in both directions and cracking her neck before greeting Legend back. "Good morning." she grumbled, lightly rubbing her eyes as to not mess up her face paint. She wasn't sure she would be able to find the same ingredients she used to make the paint back in Lariona in Oshura, so she was being extra cautious. "What is it, Legend?" Aru asked in a groggy voice, a yawn following after. |

Legend took her hand and helped Aru rise from the cold earth. "I bet you've never seen three sunrises at once," he whispered. Probably because of his upbringing, he always felt rude if he raised his voice this early in the morning. "Follow me," Legend urged her. He backtracked into the forest, recalling a spot they passed on the way into the clearing. A few brief minutes later, Legend hiked up a small hill that overlooked most of the local woodlands. A lone redwood towered above all others atop the ledge in a regal manner. From this height, the trio of suns rising together was clearly visible. He could almost make out the ocean in the distance, too, much to Legend's satisfaction. |

Aru made an excited humming sound as she practically fell to the ground, taking a seat. Her eyes were focused intently on the changing colors in the sky and how they painted the landscape. The mixture of greens and reds made the whole forest look surreal. The strip of ocean far off glittered against the rays of light breaking into the morning air. The round tips of the suns had already begun to rise against the horizon. Their orange glow was complimented by a pink-purple background. Aru began trying to hold her eyes open longer, instead of blinking regularly, so that she could capture as much of the scenery as possible. As far as she knew, she would have to go back to Largo sometime soon. Aru wasn't sure how long Legend would allow her to accompany him, but she was going to enjoy the time to the fullest. "Thank you for waking me up." Aru nodded, still facing the rising suns. |

Before long, the light of the risen suns became too bright for Legend to observe directly any longer. He turned away and blinked past the temporary damage to his retinas. "You don't have to have money to enjoy the simple things in life," he reminded himself with a smile intended for Aru. Descending from the hill with her, he braced himself for another day's travels. He had traveled through paradise and a cursed jungle, but now Legend had returned to his rightful world. As long as that familiar sunrise was within his sights, he would soon return home. A few extra days hardly mattered in the grand scheme of things. |
