Oyster walks into the small southern town of Chopikin with a small rabbit in his hand. As he enters the city two guards stop him. "We don't take kindly to thieves here" Oyster responds "Well its a good thing I just need some bread so I can be on my way." He never looks up from the ground because he knows he has done nothing wrong. "How are you gonna pay for that bread?" The other guard asks. "I have money" "How did you get that money" "I inherited it" The first guard starts yelling. "You hear that he kills the innocent to take their money and calls it 'inherited' " "How many guards are in this town" The first one seems very angry now "Whats your name boy?" "Oyster" "Oyster isn't a name, its a fish. What's your name?" "I am known by the name Oyster" "Apparently thieves are getting dumber and dumber, they are naming their people after fish." Oyster remains calm even as he is being degraded. "Where can I purchases bread?" The second guard chimes in again "We don't allow our merchants to accept stolen money." "Once again I ask, how many guards are in this town, and can I speak to any others who are more open to listen to explainations?" The first guard laughs. "All you need to know is that we are the guards your talking to, and we don't introduce other guards to the local fish" This sets Oyster over the edge. At this point he has become upset. "You don't want my money, I don't need your bread. Rather than insulting me, can you let me be on my way and I will not return." The second guard quickly interjects "We can't let you come or let you go without paying a tax." The first guard hops it "Yeah, yeah. About half a rabbit will be good for coming and half a rabbit for going. So if you wanna leave that's fine, but we gonna have to take that rabbit from you." Oyster spreads his feet slightly without making a ruckus. "You have done nothing but insult me while I have been here. You may see me as a theif, but I have denounced any and all thieves for the past 22 years. I have done nothing but live from the land since I was 16. The only money I have I use for bread. If you or your merchants don't want my money, then that is fine. If your town needs my taxes to enter, that's fine. But you you try to take my rabbit, you are no better than the thieves you are trying to keep out. Please step away from me or prepare to be disarmed." The second guard snickered. "And what do you plan on doing? You have no weapon." In responce to this Oyster kicks his leg out inbetween the first guards two legs and pulls back on his knee, making him lose his balance and fall to his hands and knees. He grabs the second guards wrist and twists until the guard drops and flips to his back. He then kicks the first guard in the side to make him fall to his stomach. He then turned and walks towards the entrance that he came from. "Wait where's our rabbit???" Calls the first guard. "Forget it, he's not worth our time" Says the second guard. "He better not be around by the time I get off shift tonight, cuz if I find him while I'm off duty, he's a dead man." Oyster ignores both of them and starts heading towards the forest to find somewhere to find camp and start a fire before nightfall. He considers being spiteful and spitting on the walls as he walks out the entrance path, but decides against it. Walking again has helped him calm down from calling him a fish. He hates when people call him a fish. Oysters are aquatic muscles, not fish. |

As Oyster walks away from the town he decides to set up a campfire about a quarter mile outside town. He is extremely hungry and needs to cook his rabbit. Plus he knows that there has to be a water source not too far from town. He skins the rabbit and proceeds to start a fire. As the rabbit starts to cook, he sets up his bearskin as a tent noticing that the sun should go down within a couple hours. Once the tent is set up the rabbit is only about ten minutes from being completely roasted. As the rabbit is complete, Oyster eats about 3/4 of it before going for a walk to find some water. Oyster assumes he is going to get back to finish the last leg of his rabbit, but what he finds is that his fire has been put out. He also looks to see that his ropes have been cut. When he gets to the opening where his tent should be, he hears a young boy say "Is that the bastard Papa?" "Yes son, that's the bastard" Oyster instantly recognizes this as the guard from town and who he assumes is the guard's 12 year old son standing about 30 feet away. Both the father and the son are holding very thick and heavy swords as well as a leashed pitbull. The guard drops the leash and yells "get him FuFu!" As the dog charges for Oyster, he drops to a crouch and grabs the dog by the neck. He proceeds to roll over its back, snapping its neck with a loud crack. "FuFu NOOO!!!!" The boy screams. "Your gonna pay for killing my dog!" The guard starts charging towards Oyster at about a third of the speed of the dog. He raises his sword, but it is too heavy to stay steady and it waves back and forth in the air. When the guard is about three feet from Oyster, he stands up and grabs the man's wrist with one hand and snaps his elbow with the other. The boy turns to run, but Oyster shouts "Don't move" and he freezes in fear. "You called me a thief, you called me a fish, you insulted my intelligence, your dog ate the rest of my rabbit, you destroyed my ropes, and you attacked me." "You killed my dog and broke my arm!!" Oyster kicks him in the side and sees that the bone is sticking out as the guard rolls over. "The only reason your still alive is because I don't want your son to bare witness to his father's idiocracy causing his death" "You should be more careful who you harass. Especially when you named your dog FuFu. And you shouldn't swear infront of a child, yet alone let him swear" He turns towards the child who now has a tear in his eye. "It's disrespectful." "I'm going to pack my things, take enough money to pay for the torn ropes, and leave. I am never going to return, and if you ever find me, I will kill you." Oyster goes to the dog and pats it on the head. "I'm sorry buddy" "Once I am out of eyesight your son is going to help you back to town. By the time you get back it will be dark, and by that time I will be gone." And so it was. The guard returned to the town never to hear from Oyster again. |
