Aru stood tall once it was her turn to introduce herself. She placed her left arm over her chest and grabbed onto her right shoulder.

"I am Aru, guard of South Town, of Lari, of Lariona." Aru promptly stated, smiling brightly in the shade of the trees. "I am traveling with Legend, because I do not know much about this world." her words came out fast, Aru excitedly going on and on. "I as well couldn't simply watch as innocent women were captured."

"Well I'm Oyster, you can call me Oyster. I'm not really from anywhere, I mostly just stay where I can find water and a place to buy bread for a couple days, then I move along." Oyster felt it was polite to introduce himself the way he was asked, but inside he was bubbling up with questions. Never has his curiosity been so high about someone he had just met.

"And what was that about different worlds? If your not from this world where are you from? And how did you get here?"

For sure, the sheridan women had also taken an interest in Aru's introductory comments. She seemed to have blurted out everything Legend advised her against mentioning - with the sole exception of their magic studies. Unfortunately, Oyster's last question touched on even that subject. Legend found himself stepping around hot coals to avoid digging a deeper hole.

"Where she comes from, no one has heard of the Knives Empire," he explained. Though Legend couldn't think of a person in all of Oshura who wouldn't recognize the ancient name of Knives, he couldn't bring himself to lie. Withholding information weighed on his conscience enough in itself. "Some of her mannerisms might seem foreign, but she's adjusting well so far."

"Where is... Lariona, you said?" Meila asked with a polite smile. "Likewise, I have never heard of your country, Aru." Legend stared the amazon down as she formulated a reply. If nothing else, perhaps his gaze would remind Aru to choose her words carefully.

Aru looked through the group of eyes staring her down, since all of them were on her. She closed her own in order to thing better, the pressure of each person's eyes on her making it difficult to concentrate. Out of all of those eyes, Aru could clearly see Legend's. His harsh expression had made Aru realize she had indeed said too much. Now she had to fix it.

"L-Lariona is not here." Aru bluntly admitted, scratching her stomach as she thought. "Its location is a secret."

"At any rate," Legend continued, "Oyster suggested that we come up with a plan. I think we should talk about that. The better we prepare now, the sooner we'll catch up to the other captives and the better our chances of success. There are nine of us here. The group that left before Aru and I showed up was a little bigger than that, so even if we all pursue them, we're going to be outnumbered. We have to take that into account and avoid a direct confrontation if possible."

Though he had always replied with an immediate "Yes, ma'am" when his mother warned him never to become a soldier, Legend had a wealth of wartime stories from his uncle to draw from. It was that mindset which prepared him to survive in the jungles of Lariona. He didn't consider himself a warrior of any sort, but Legend could at least use another man's hard-learned life lessons to his advantage.

"If it comes down to a fight, and let's hope it doesn't... How many of you know how to handle a weapon?" he asked. A few hands went up in the sheridan crowd - including Meila's. Legend wondered what kind of weapon the blond sheridan preferred, but there were more important details to discuss; the specifics would come later. He made brief eye contact with each women who failed to raise a hand. "Those of you who can't defend yourselves are no longer part of this operation. I welcome your advice and suggestions, but once we get to Middlebrook, we'll part ways."

"I can sort of handle a weapon. I know how to fight, and am better with my hands, but that is because I fight defensively not offensively. I can make it so that those attacking me will not be able to do it again, but I cannot attack others."

Oyster knew that there was no turning back now. He wanted to make sure these strangers were on his side before deciding to fight with them, but he had so many questions about the other worlds. He had heard stories when he was younger of those who could start fire using magic, but they always seemed like fairy tales. Secretly the only thing Oyster was searching the world for was someone who could make fire with their hands. He knew he was never going to find it, but it never left his mind to search for. It helped make the trip more interesting since he was walking around anyway.

Aru smiled at Oyster admitted to being a defensive fighter. She nodded respectfully at the statement and when he finished she chimed in.

"I fight to defend myself as well. I don't like to hurt people, or even kill." Aru nodded. "I-I mean, I have never killed anyone, that is, and I do not plan on it." she added, a bit reserved. She was unsure of what to say and how to say it, now that she had already slipped up once.

"As long as you're capable of protecting yourself, that's fine," Legend agreed. "I'm more comfortable with a pacifist than someone who can harm another person without a second thought." A gentle breeze came through the thick forest and brushed across his cheek as though prompting him to move on with the preparations.

"The men mentioned that they're following orders from the emperor... Lord-Saint Dirac, isn't it?"

"That's correct," Meila answered with a nod. Legend set his pick against the nearest tree and folded his arms over his bare chest.

"If that's the case, it would make sense for them to head back to the crown city. If we run into any towns on the way, we can ask around for more information... One thing is for sure: they took the men by carriage, so they'll stick to the roads. We have much better mobility."

"I know someone with intimate knowledge of the trails between Middlebrook and Svalbard," interjected Meila again. "I will ask for his aid when we reach the village."

Oyster didn't quite know if this new situation was good or bad, but he did know he was excited. This new group was mismatched and didn't seem very organized, but he could feel that something good was about to happen. He could feel the excitement rising.

"Sound's like we have ourselves a plan. Let's hit the road towards Middlebrook"

When Oyster made the call to move on, Legend agreed which made Aru nod in agreement as well. They took off, Aru right on Legend's heels. She was like a duckling following her parent through the wilderness. Sometimes she would lose herself in the new discoveries she was making each moment. Aru would see a new flower and run to inspect it, or catch a glimpse of a bird she had never seen before and stop dead in her tracks. Each time she would have to catch up a fair amount, but she always ended up by Legend's side or right on his tail.

It took much longer than Aru had hoped to arrive at the town of Middlebrook, a quaint and very unexciting village greeted them. The houses and people all looked similar, minus a few specific details, but it was different enough that Aru was unsure of how to act when they did arrive. In Lariona there would be a commotion when people entered or left town, but there were no tall stone walls and gates to surround the area with citizens walking around freely.

"No gate?" Aru asked, looking around for one without any success. "And only the sheridans." she remarked, turning to Legend for explanation.
