Obviously, I'm getting ahead of things a little bit here, but it's late February, so what else is there to talk about? If Ware is released, I wonder if he couldn't be a short term option for us. At his age and in our cap situation, we could definitely bring him in for a couple of years.

Have to think others will pursue him as well and Grigson seems content with Walden and a developing Werner, but there is little question Ware was much better in a 3-4 defense.

Yeah there is no doubt he'll be cut. The Cowboys are WAAAAYYYYY over the cap and Ware is due an insane amount of money. Even if he were performing they'd have to cut him. THere are 3 theories on why his performance was so bad this year.

1. switch to the 4-3 defense doesn't suit his style
2. injuries, he went into the season hurt and never fully healed
3. he is old and past his prime

Of course the truth is usually a combination of these, but if it was more of the first 2 than the third, then he could be a relatively inexpensive fit here in a system that caters to his skills.

I would definitely take him over Walden, but do the coaches think Werner is primed for a breakthrough?

You have Mathis on one side and the combo of Werner/Walden on the left side. No thanks. He played like the invisible man last year, and contrary to belief, won't be cheap. We have much bigger needs, like...C, WR, NT, DE, ILB, CB, S.

Red Bryant could be a cap casualty too, and makes much more sense to pursue if and when.

I agree it's unlikely, but a possibility. If nothing else, having him and/or Bryant on the market might take one of our potential competitors in the bidding war for linemen, LBs and DBs, out of the equation (if they decide a pass rusher or WR are more important), or weaken their bidding power.

Don't want no overpriced past his prime vet his seems to be injured far too much. The Colts already have those types.

Landry and Toler might be overpaid and injured too much, but not really past their primes if they can stay healthy. Can't think of any plus 30, injury prone guys with big contracts still left on the roster.

Grigson had no problem getting rid of the majority of Polian's blunders. Let's see if he has the cohones to do the same for his at the appropriate time.

It's always easier to admit to the other guys mistakes.

I think Ware ends up re-working his deal and staying in Dallas. Just a thought, but i could be wrong
