Without Davis and Costa. Brown and Bradshaw are on there

Without Davis and Sergio Brown but everyone else according to overthecap.com
Davis and Brown will count around $10.5 which leaves us with about $17 million
Need less than 1 million cap room for draft, another 4 million for season which leaves us with 12 million to spend on FA
We can get 2 very good players or 2 good players
Who?

DARRELLE REVIS, Evan Dietrich-Smith
That would be cool, than cut Toler save $4 million
Center -Dietrich-Smith is best
DT- Melton, Hatcher, Randy Starks, Raji, Cody
Guards- Wharton from Carolina
Safety- Chris Clemons, slim pickings after him
CB- Revis?, cromarte and cromarte
WR- too many

How could we even afford Revis? It'd be awesome, but seems on par with thinking we might sign Byrd.

Good lord no. Forget Revis. We need a nosetackle and a guard. Having 2 great corners isn't going to help if we get run all over like we did against the Pats. Getting a huge NT that can shut down the run is our biggest need.

Has everyone already given up on Chapman at NT? And what about Hughes? He's said to be developing and if it's not a potential stud NT at 349 pounds, I don't know who is.

Look around the league at the top NTs, a lot were not high draft picks. Chapman and Hughes are developing. I wouldn't mind spending on a pass rusher, but I think DL is hard to invest any more money into at this point in time.

On a NT we do not need a starter, but unless Hughes does better we need another NT
Just like center, RG, WR, even safety how do Colts feel about Holmes, Thornton, Rodgers, Howell.
One of the above players might turn into a star

But this month is about spending Jim Irsay money

I guess signing Jackson takes Ware out of the picture right? Would love to have another guy for the opposing teams OL to worry about. In all honesty, we haven't addressed the pass rush at all

They have to be counting on Werner to develop, I would imagine. And Walden wasn't bad.

Another wish would be Raji for NT but we need a C and a FS!

Supposedly, the Packers Center is coveted by the Bucs and the Giants. And according to ESPN.com, apparently the Colts contacted the agent of James Jones last night.

There are still a number of teams with cap space who haven't made any moves yet, or only a few, so many more should be coming.

Cowboys released Miles Austin also.

I wouldn't be shocked if we snagged Jones, but I wouldn't go too high.

a BIG N.O. on Raji. The guy meets the criteria, but he has fallen out of favor BIGTIME with GB. the guy isn't nearly as good as he was made out to be.

Does anyone know where we're sitting cap wise right now?

You still thinking we're around 17 mil, ced?

Yes still not showing Davis cap hit.
I would assume Colts front loaded so show be close to 17 million
Colts might be trying to work a deal for Mack
We can find a safety or WR in 2 and 3 round of draft

Thanks, ced.

Yeah, I figure out of the holes that need filled, Safety has got to be the main one that can be addressed through the draft. I just don't know how many will be available or the quality. I really don't consider WR as a need like interior OL, Safety or even NT. But I do know Grigs has had success drafting WR's...

I agree on WR with another year for Rodgers, Brazil, and whalen plus Reggie and Allen coming back and with Hilton and Fleener we have guys who can catch
If we some how sign Mack i would fill much better about Thornton
That would leave only safety as a big need

If there is a safety in the draft that Grigson covets, don't be surprised if we trade next year's no. 1 to move up and get them. That's how he operates. And now that we're filling up several positions with guys who should be around a while, the first round picks might not be as important, especially late round 1.

Agree on the Mack/Thorton matchup. Signing Mack would definitely be addressing the interior of the OL, so I can live with pretty much just that alone.

Still think NT would need to be addressed, but yeah I guess it wouldn't be quite as big as Safety. A cheap vet or mid to late draft pick at NT, to maybe go along with an UDFA, should be the competition we need at the position.

Safety probably shouldn't be addressed much differently than NT. But I like the thought of getting a decently priced vet AND drafting a Safety, using one of our early picks in the 2nd or 3rd round. (Or doing what Bent suggested and make some moves to move up and get one.) I just think getting one of the old guys, Reed/Woodson/Bailey, to play FS for us for a year, at 2-3mil, could be huge for our CB's and for whatever Safeties we bring in with them and currently have on the team.

I don't know. Is he a decent tackler?

Might cost a little bit more than we'd like.

Was thinking about Tillman or Finnegan playing FS too...

I value first round picks, The real cost is the additional picks you give up to move into the first round.

Yeah. He's a zone guy. At CB in a Tampa-2.

He could probably play zone at FS in our system, though. He's experienced enough to already know or learn his place. Just depends on if he'd make the move.

Would love having an almost guaranteed 4-5 forced fumbles a year from one of our DB's, though.

Could definitely see him reuniting with Lovie, too...

He'd be cheap, then. Poor man's Bethea. Not gonna make any big plays, but he'll get tackles and stay on the field. (Unless we go to Denver...)

Still a lot of DB's out there. Thinking some vet has to come in for competition at FS... Clark could definitely be one of them.
