First day of free agency

I'm much happier with our first day of free agency this year than I was with our first day last year. We had a big shift in strategy this year and I think it's the more prudent one. We concentrated on keeping the guys from our team that we needed to keep and let all the right people go elsewhere. We only brought in one big signing, in Arthur Jones, and I think that was a good contract for a guy who fills a need and is a great fit. After that, we've chosen to take things more slowly this year and let the market come to us a little more. Hopefully at this point we either get 1 more difference maker, or we sign a couple more solid guys that can push for playing time and depth in general.

All in all, I'm pretty happy. Really interested to see what Grigson does from here though.

No doubt that Grigson had a great day, and has restored my faith in the process.

He's been more focused this year, it seems. He went down the list of our FA's and kept the guys we needed most/role players and he got difference makers, from other teams, who have already played for our coaches in Jones w/ Pagano and D'Qwell w/ Chud.

He didn't cast the net as wide this year. But, he really didn't need to, either. Not like last year.

Now, of course, he could use what we have left and spread it around some more. Get the C, OG, NT, FS/CB and WR vet on cheap 1-2 two year deals. It could be done, and I'd be cool with that. Or, he could continue what he's been doing this free agency and focus on one more long-term difference maker, like you said Austin, and get Mack. Either way I'm fine, as long as he addresses the interior of the OL some how.
