Every other free agent's name has popped up on here, so why not? Apparantly Steve wants to play in the slot. at 34 he won't command too much money, and plays with a lot of passion. i'd take him as a slot guy on a 2-year deal. cut him after this year if he doesn't work out |

I like the idea, I would want the Colts to do a lot of research though. He seems like a headache, can be a handful. With all the WR options out there right now, no need to bring in a guy who isn't a 'horseshoe guy'. |

Disagree. He's one of the toughest pound for pound guys in the league. Not sure if he'd accept a reduced role at a reduced rate. I've always been a fan of his. |

Heard on a local sports talk show tonight on the drive home that Smith picked up several new followers...twitter I assume...today including Matt Hasselback and Vontae Davis. Speculation was maybe that meant there could be something happening there. It's a stretch, but the timing is interesting. |

You know what? Smith has never played with an offense that would be as potent at ours. Let's not forget that we get Dwayne Allen back who has incredible hands in traffic as well. We have good players all over the offense. Smith wouldn't be taking a reduced role, because apparantly he's said he wanted to play slot but never had the opportunity in Carolina. He would come to a winning team on the rise, playing with a chip on his shoulder. He may have a good year or two left in his tank, and playing with our team would be enjoyable for him. He would bring a certain toughness and add another distraction for defenses to focus on. I can see Ballard/Trench/Bradshaw having monster numbers on shotgun draws with Wayne, Hilton, Smith, Allen and possibly Fleener out there. I'd welcome him with open arms, and he wouldn't break the bank. |

Seems like he'd be willing to play on a short term, reasonable deal for a shot at a championship and with a solid young QB. Smith paired with Reggie would be outstanding as Luck and our young weapons develop. Would make more sense than spending more on a young free agent. We need to see what will become of Rogers, Brazill, etc. |

He'd bring some toughness to the offense, and always plays hard. Good insurance policy while grooming youngsters, including an expected draft pick. |

Always liked Smith. And he's a grown man now, so I have no doubt he'd fit right in and enjoy working alongside another vet in Reggie. Might be hard to get done, though. Unless he's willing to take only 2-3 mil... And that's only after we've already addressed the OL positions... |

Ravens said to have the inside track. No mention of Colts' interest... |

He'd be a good fit there... I'm afraid of him going to the Pats... Still a lot of other FA WR's out there, if we really want one... Quite a few that'd be good fits, too. |

I still pound the drum for Cotchery, but I heard he may be stayin' in Pittsburgh. |
