One-year deal. If we had to have him, this is the deal I wanted. |

Espn says it maxes out at 5.5 million. About what I was hoping for. I love this signing. When Nicks was healthy, he was uncoverable. He could be a beast in this offense. Big bodied chain mover. |

While I like Nicks and think if he can stay healthy he could be a playmaker again, I feel we had more pressing needs that should have been addressed. With that said, it sounds as if he came relatively cheap. |

There was a CLEAR need at WR. I don't know how anyone can think this does address a huge need. |

There was talk about us trading away a draft pick, or picks, for Nicks last year. This is a good deal. |

I am glad we got Nicks but i agree with Bodey We need Center and safety before WR, but we still have the draft But it is a very good deal for the colts Excited about the coming up year But i do not want a rookie center starting unkess he is great |

They might be looking at Holmes to start at center. Maybe Costa is insurance and a little extra motivation for Holmes. We also need to add depth to the offensive line. We have Reitz, Nixon, Cost or Holmes, add a legit C or RG and we have another backup. |

Glad we (apparently) weren't involved in this mess: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/emmanuel-sanders-s-agent-blasted-for-negotiating-tactics-after-signing-with-broncos-134310444.html |

Holmes can't just be written off. Grigson is on record as not being a fan of playing rookie offensive lineman. People point to his inability to break into the starting lineup even though Satele was crap, but I think it is possible that they didn't want to switch Centers mid-season, as that can be a lot for a young QB to take. Especially when that Center who would be coming in was a rookie. Holmes was a pretty good C prospect, and a 4th round pick, the Colts are not just going to give up on him. The fact is, you have to go young and cheap at some positions, expensive veterans at every position isn't really possible. |

Can't believe that Nicks signed for a "DHB deal." Just fantastic... |

I'm not giving up on Holmes, but what I saw from him last year confirmed that he wasn't ready to step on the field. He got manhandled most of the time. I don't think it was his rookie status that kept him off the field. Another year and a chance to get stronger will hopefully see him ready to compete for the job, but I wouldn't rely on him at all. Hope we can still sign Mack. |

I meant that he got a one year "bridge deal" like DHB which could lead Nicks to better things, or worse, depending on how he does this year. Edited by Coltny, Mar 17 2014, 06:12 PM.

Which is why he was offered and took, the deal.So did Thornton for that matter. I read where Holmes scored extremely highly on blocks from the "jumbo" packages he was involved in. Edited by errsay, Mar 17 2014, 08:45 PM.

Thornton got beat, but he was not blown up most of the time. Misread assignments, leaning the wrong directions, rookie mistakes, etc. I can see some optimism for improving. Holmes seemed to not be able to hold up against and NFL defensive lineman. Did not know that about his ratings, so it might just be selective memory on my part. |

Holmes did not play many plays but he did score high. He has good feet for an offense lineman But they say he lacks NFL strength , mainly in the lower body Hopefully he can improve |
