People will see "DUI charges" and automatically convert it to drunk driving charges, not realizing you can be slapped with a DUI charge for operating under anything that changes your state of mind.
The media reporting on the arrest should know better though.

"Should" and "Do" are two very different things, especially when talking about the media where it only takes on goofup, and everyone who just copies and pastes headlines blows it into a giant game of telephone.

It'd be great if recovering from addiction was only a 3 month rehab and then get on with your life. It's a life-long struggle. I can't comment on the scope of Irsay's relapse, but from what I've seen it could very well have just been a momentary screw up, which happens to every recovering addict. Pretty hard to blame him unconditionally for this incident because he's wealthy, as addiction screws up a rich man's head as much as a poor man's, and no addict is quick to get help even when its readily available. Especially as men we are taught to be self-sustaining and strong, to do it ourselves. I'm not the greatest of Irsay's fans, but I'm not going to blast him for this until we know more, and probably not even then.

Now letting Manning walk, that's another story.......

I'm kidding! Sort of.

The thing I've learned from past associations is that the hardest thing for a substance abuser to come to grips with, is acknowledging the problem and then seeking the proper help. What's worrisome to me, is that he was right back on twitter calling out his "haters". In his defense, he was referring to people accusing him of drinking again, when the reported problem is an addiction to pain killers eminating from back issues. I have read where people inside the organization offered to get him chaueffuers to keep him from experiencing this very calamity, but he wouldn't go for it. Part of the denial process, in all likelihood.

My advice to him would be: Seek the proper help immediately, and lay off of twitter for awhile. It's just doing him a dis-service and actually feeding the "haters". Surround yourself with people who love and care for you, while exercising proper discernment going forward.

Look at a picture of Irsay from two years ago compared to a picture now. He's been struggling with this for a while. He's lost about 70 lbs.

Yeah, I hadn't seen a recent photo of him until the mug shot, and I was shocked by how different he looked. Almost doesn't even look like the same guy.

I hope he does get some help, but the coverage this story has received, in my opinion, is overblown. It's at the top of every newsfeed, usually some pundit ranting about how Irsay needs to get it together. This coming from sports pundits who are by and large drunks themselves. Yes, Bob Kravitz, I'm sure you're a saint.

In his defense, Kravitz has praised him as a person as well. No one is without blemish...
