Baltimore better off without the Colts

For what it's worth, I went to the old Memorial Stadium to see an Orioles game their final year there. I'm sure the place held a lot of memories for folks, but it was the worst stadium I've ever been to. Dirty, terrible sight lines. Of course I'd rank Wrigley Field second even though its worshipped by many.

People of Baltimore always found it easy to blame Irsay, but the real culprit was the Mayor and city officials, who misread Irsay's resolve to get the best deal for him and his team.

I can understand the emotional attachment of the fans, which is a given. However, it's hypocritical to chastise fans who followed the team once they moved to Indy. The business side of sports can get ugly and it's a risk that any fan takes who supports a professional team. I know it's a different animal nowadays because of the amount of money involved, so it's not fair for me to judge what Baltimore Colts fans endured either. The bottom line is that dedicated fans get the short end of the stick in these situations and it's beyond their control.

It's like Baltimore believes if the team had stayed, Peyton would have been drafted and been their QB for years, followed by Luck. Chaos would have never allowed that to happen.

Its odd to think that I might not even have a team to root for if things were different. Cant really imagine not looking forward to seeing Peyton or Luck play.

Then again, being a huge football fan in general, im sure i would have latched onto some team. When i was a kid, i loved watching Dan Marino. Im 27, so go easy.

A lot of us would probably have ended up Bears or Bengals fans.

Grew up in Fort Wayne from 1970 to 1983 before I left for the Navy. Never like the Bears, Bengals, Detroit or any other geographically close team. Loved to watch Barry Sanders play, but the team always sucked. Chicago was fun to watch when the Fridge played for them and the Superbowl shuffle. Never had a team until our Colts moved to Indy.

I would have most definitely been a Bronco fan. Especially when I was younger I always kind of had a natural aversion to Chicago (mostly because of the Bulls) and Cincinnati (probably something to do with my dislike for the color red) teams, and I had family in Denver.
