I know Griffin is talented, but I'm so glad we got Luck instead.

With Jackson there now, DC sure has a lot of egos to deal with on that offense.

Doesn't look like that has anything to do with ego, its just an endorsement deal with adidas.

With all the commercials and endorsement deals Manning had over the years, not sure we as Colts fans can rip into anyone over that.

Discussing the logo, RGIII said:

"This wouldn't be possible without the love and support of my family, friends and fans growing up," Griffin said. "This is for us and represents all of the work the people around me put in to help me succeed in life."

This is a BIG ego.

He sounds like he discovered the cure for cancer and heart disease, not becoming marketable.

If this was just him going out and doing it on his own, I would laugh at him. This is Adidas though, so eh, doesn't reflect on RG3 at all in my opinion.

I do not see how that statement is egotistical. He is simply thanking everyone who has supported him for the support that he believes has helped him to make it into the NFL. Nothing that most athletes haven't said in an interview at one point or another in their lives.

If all of this is to be believed I'd say he's pretty damn arrogant with a huge ego.

"But according to insiders, Griffin's public campaign to have the offense altered for him was just the tip of his egotism in his second year," Jenkins wrote. "Behind closed doors, Griffin had fierce finger-pointing tensions with his wide receivers, and he bragged to teammates that he could procure favors from the owner and influence the franchise's direction."

Also, note the quote from Garcon in there. He caught 100 plus with DC, but you have to wonder if he wouldn't like to be back in Indy. Not saying that would ever happen, just that you have to wonder, especially with Jackson coming in.

The context is what makes it egotistical---- his own logo. I would agree with you if it was said in the course of a typical post game interview.

The guy has not accomplished anything of significance yet in the NFL.

I respect his talent. It just seems premature for him to think he has accomplished anything. His talents and hard work have given him the opportunity to accomplish something. He is just not there yet.

I actually think he is a good kid and a real talent. I just thought his statement was egotistical. But, then again, some PR guy probably wrote it for him.

So I take everything back. Sorry, Robert. My bad.

Yeah, the bottom line is that he just hasn't done anything yet. I try not to begrudge anyone going out and making money when they can. I don't hate him for it or anything. It's just that when you combine it with everything else I've heard and seen out of DC, I'm glad that we got Luck instead. He seems like the much more grounded and humble of the two. I just LIKE him better.

Getting to the NFL seems like a pretty big accomplishment to me. Not very many people get that chance. I'm not saying he isn't egotistical, only that there is nothing in this topic that is egotistical. You guys seem to be influenced by other happenings, and thus are looking for something to call him egotistical over. In doing so you are finding stuff where there is in reality nothing. When someone wants something to be true, it is easy for the mind to twist something into being evidence of it. RG3 may have the biggest ego in the NFL, wouldn't surprise me at all, but there simply is nothing here that suggests he is being overly egotistical. All that is here is an Adidas marketing ploy, and a player thanking those who have supported him for their support. That is all.

Doesn't a 23 year old with his own logo scream egotistical? That seems like a classic example of it to me.

It also seems kind of ridiculous thanking people for getting you to the point where you have your own logo- appreciative of the superficial accomplishment.

Whatever. Who are we to judge? No way do I turn down tens of millions to get my own logo.

No not really, doesn't seem egotistical at all actually. Just seems like Adidas marketing to me.

I have no idea how it is ridiculous to thank people for helping you.

Not any more so than an NBA player having his own shoe line.

I really don't get how this is any different than any other endorsement deal or selling RG III jerseys or t shirts with him on them.

I get that we like Luck better, he's our QB and I honestly think he is the better player, and maybe there are other things, like the comments of his teammates that show RG III has an ego, but this story doesn't seem to do that at all.

How many football players have their own logo?

Brady? Manning? Rodgers? Brees? Favre? All no.

How many baseball players? None.

How many basketball players? Maybe two- Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

Soccer players? Hockey players? Anyone? Anywhere?

There are a lot of athletic shoe endorsements. Even Stephon Marbury has one. Only 3 logos. Two All Time greats in another sport, and RGIII, a kid who has never won a playoff game, has not really had a good season, and has only played two years.

He should be embarrassed to have a logo. He has not earned one. What would be worse is if he thinks he has earned one. If it is just for the money, and he knows its all a marketing scam, then that at least shows a little humility and self awareness. I am OK with that as every football player earns his money and then some. Careers are short. Post career injuries last a life time. So let them go for the cash. Just don't lose perspective on your accomplishments, and stay humble.

From the original posted article that you so clearly just made obvious you didn't actually read.

"Griffin is the fourth adidas endorser to have his own logo. Soccer star Lionel Messi, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose and Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard are the others."

Fine. I did not remember it. That does not affect the issue.

Leo Messi is a multiple winner of the world player of the year award. Derrick Rose won an MVP. Dwight Howard has been a great player for years. RGIII has none of this. And none of them are football players---- not Manning, Brady, etc.

So do you have a point?

RG3 is taking advantage of the hype that surrounds him and I would have done it as well. However, I would agree hes done NOTHING to warrant the hype and have remained unimpressed. Time will prove to be the test of whether he is worthy of the hype and hes been known to have a huge ego, but whether or not he has an ego will not matter if he succeeds or fails.

I dont see him being a great QB, so im perfectly content just watching him flame out soon enough. Wont hate on him for making bank while he can though.
