Hopefully he comes in with a better perspective, but also realizes that while he might not have done as bad, as he puts it, he didn't perform like a top five first round pick. I thought some of the criticism of TR was a little overboard, but he obviously has to do a lot better. Improving the o-line can help.

Let's hope the education he's getting does indeed help. No more excuses come August.

This is the thing. You can't expect anyone short of Barry Sanders to do anything resembling something positive when he's got two defenders in his face when he takes the hand-off.

For better or worse, he's the guy for the next 2 years, minimum.

I dunno. At least if Trent falters, there are decent options behind him.

What will be funny is that he'll be at his peak once he becomes a FA. And we might even have a decent line by the time he becomes a FA. But we wont be able to re-sign him, or wont want to...

This is why you don't use first round picks on RB's...

He'll either be a much more productive player, or a more beat up one.

Except that rarely actually happened.

You are thinking of Addai. He was the Colts RB who was constantly facing defenders immediately after handoff.

Happened quite a bit to Richardson, too. Some of his most spectacular runs were for one or two yards, where he should have been taken down for a loss.

Brown took three years to do anything. TR deserves at least as much.

Do we count his rookie season in Cleveland and last year as a Colt? If so, this should be his year.

Maybe. Depends on how much we expect actually. Brown didn't top 4 yards per carry until his third season (his best as a Colt, but he still player sparingly). Last year was actually his fifth season and it took that long for fans to get on his bandwagon, and only because Richardson didn't produce big like expected.
