We ran the ball good tonight
But we lost
Yes the refs hurt us
But we need to protect Luck better
One day Luck will not get up
How many times tonight was he hit or hurried ?
That call on 2nd down on our last serials was lame

Also have to hold onto the ball. I thought the Oline played well - both pass protection and run blocking - in the first half. Didn't get to see the second. Also thought Richardson and Bradshaw ran hard and smart (minus TR's fumbles).

If we're still struggling, who does everyone blame now? The whipping boys from a year ago are all gone. Surely it's not Shipley. The man is an undiscovered superstar center.

We didn't lose because of the refs.
We didn't lose because of the second down call.
We didn't lose because of poor pass protection.
(all this in my opinion, of course)
We lost because our front four couldn't get pressure against one of the weaker lines in the NFL.
We lost because we didn't learn how to cover a screen pass.
We lost because our highly touted receiver corps didn't seem to get open very much.
We lost because our safeties suck.
We lost because our defensive coordinator apparently has never heard of Darren Sproles. This last one kills me. Why we didn't have a lb'r pinned to him every time he came out of the backfield I will never know.

Yea i am concerned about our pass rush
Folks had alot of time. Our pass defense is good considering no pass rush
After 2 games how many sacks do we have?

One, I think.

We aren't winning any one on one battles with our d-line.

I'm glad we are bigger up front, and our run defense is better in general so far this year. But many of our guys may have tipped the scales towards being too fat to be most effective. We continue to be slow off the line and weak in pushing the pocket.

I don't think we blitzed the entire second half, either. Never been a fan of Manusky, and he's not making me like him any better.

Boy are we vulnerable to double moves. We got lucky on several long pass attempts.

I agree , Foles missed some open receivers
Did not see any blitzing in second half. Why ?
Eagles certainly blitz us

The play calling to me left a little to be desired, though i didnt actually watch the game.

I had a play by play on my phone trying to sneak peeks at it while i was at work. I had hoped on the second to last series we would just run it on 3rd and 5 and set up an AV FG to put us up 10 but instead we ended up with an interception. Then i PRAYED we would not run TR again on the last series when he got 6 yards on first down. I just feel like the Eagles were going to be waiting for it and it ended up in a forced passing situation on 3rd and 5 which again we failed on.

But the biggest downfall is the pass rush. The defense isnt going to be able to stop ANYONE from passing the ball. Receivers will eventually come free, even if you have 4 Darelle Revis on the field.

Though i do like our run defense a lot better. The D line is solid. The linebackers cant rush for crap.

Also, to hell with it. Sunday will be here soon and we play the Jaguars. It will be nice to play a nonplayoff team. Despite all the glaring weakness this team seems to have. They (should have freaking won) have come incredibly close to be 2 and 0 against playoff teams. Its amazing.

Yeah the lack of a pass rush is going to be our downfall. Was it just me or did they seem to not blitz? We were getting zero pass rush so you'd think they'd dial up some blitzes but I'm not sure that I saw any. It's pretty clear that Werner is NOT a pass rusher so we need to get more creative.

A power running game is when you smash it down somebody's throats when they know it's coming, and they can't stop it, especially on third down. Colts just fooled the Eagles mostly with the offbalance line stuff.

Yes, there are some nice fatties on the DL, but the OLB's have to do the pass rushing, and the Colts don't have it. Woerner was neutralized all night long (surprise, surprise), and #93 couldn't even get around their third string RT who looked like he had his feet stuck in mud.

Seems like the only decent blitzing LB we have is Freeman, and he didn't play.

The pass rush also wasn't really the issue. Walden did get pressure a couple of times in the first half, but just like our game against the Broncos, most of their passes were short and quick. We did nothing to adjust and stop that.

Reason we lost though: Richardson's fumble and Luck's INT.

Richardson actually lost two fumbles, didn't he? Reggie recovered one.

Still think our horrid ability to stop the screen pass killed us more than the turnovers.

The problem I have is that I can see our o-line improving and our lb's improving (if Muamba replaces Jackson more), but our pass rush won't get any better unless it comes from Kerr. Our safeties won't get any better, either.

I thought Walden and Werner did a decent job rushing the passer. Not great by any means, but I saw room for growth. I don't think Walden is as bad as most fans do, and I think Werner will get better and better. Let's not turn him into another Jerry Hughes by being impatient.

"I thought Walden and Werner did a decent job rushing the passer."

Really? Not trying to argue but I just didn't see it. Walden got some occasional pressure but he was against a 3rd string RT. He should've been living in the backfield. Werner was simply invisible. In fairness he was going against a terrific LT in Peters. But never heard his name mentioned until the 3rd or 4th quarter.

I would also posit that the defense did cause us to lose the game. In the second half Foles had all day and they moved the ball at will. If the last two games are an indication, we'll have zero pass rush this season which means it will be a long one.

Walden is a decent player, just nothing spectacular. Which in Colts land when a FA signing isn't spectacular that seems to mean they are the worst player ever at their position. I do not understand how middling FA signings get such ridiculous expectations.

As I've noted though, most of the Eagles' plays were quick passes. Not a lot of time to get pressure in those cases. That's where you need your safeties, LBs and other DBs, to make plays and prevent that option. Otherwise, your passrushers are useless.

The Jaguars just gave up 10 sacks to the Redskins. If Werner and Walden have any ability to rush the passer, we'll find out after the Jags game.

I think the loss of Jones means the Colts have a battle just to win our division. Jacksonville at the bottom and Houston at the top with the Colts.
We found some running game but our passing game needs some play calling.

In Werner's defense, he was playing opposite one of the league's best Tackles. Walden played just fine, and wasn't the problem as aforementioned. This defense is bigger than the previous regime's, but obviously considerably slower. We win this game with Dungy's D.

I notice little comment about Allen and our running game. I'll admit I'm a real Allen fan and do not look back at film, but I thought he played a very great game at TE with no calls for passes direct at him. He can catch the ball!!
I thought our running game was for the RB's to follow Allen.

The guy is a teriffic blocker and a warrior...unlike #80. In fact, Doyle had an excellent game as well. Andrew needs to step his game up now too. These next 2 games are vital.

What I do not get us on 1 TE sets that are passing, Fleener is always in there
I think Allen catching is as good or better than Fleener. If I knew Colts were passing than I would think the Eagles knew as well

I would go as far to say that Allen is the best player on the team on both sides of the ball. I can't think of one good reason that he should not be on the field for every play. Outside of a need for a breather he should always be out there. He is just to damn good not to.

Yessir.

Allen is head and shoulders better than fleener at everything.

Agreed, I said as much during the Broncos game when we kept throwing to Fleener at the end and Allen was on the bench. No idea why he isn't getting more playing time.

Fleener has pictures of Luck, which is why we drafted him in the first place.

Maybe Allen still isn't 100 percent and the Colts are keeping it quiet. Don't think that's it, but maybe.

His health didn't seem to bother his blocking. Whatever is bothering him we should give to Fleener.
