I remember that hit he gave last year against the Broncos. Man has no fear, but after taking a dip in the canal near Broad Ripple, who wouldn't? Dirty river (I believe it's fed from the White River which is filthy. I lived in Muncie, IN and that river was awful - stinky, dirty, disgusting.) But, he humbled himself and he is definitely a fan favorite. Great article. |

I think that dip in the canal is part of why he is a fan favorite. |

He has his own show Saturday nights on WTHR, if you like him that much. |

Yup. It made him a legend. The Golden God. A Hoosier for life. Doesn't hurt that he's brought our ST's out of the gutter with his booming kicks and big hits, either. |

He didn't hurt his jersey sales with last nights game. |

This is his best season by far. Until now, I always thought he was just another fan favorite who was a little overrated by fans. |

Any punter who gets a personal foul is tops in my book. I think I remember him getting one. |

Do you think if he took Richardson for a swim, the Colt fans would show a little love for Richardson? |

No. It's easy to love a punter. It's rare they screw up really bad. They can get by with being mediocre and fooling fans into thinking they're something special based on charisma alone. Is McAfee fun and lovable? Sure. How many games will he win us based on his talent? None. I remember people loving Hunter Smith even though he was just routinely average for years and years. |

I don't think so, not at the NFL level. You can be better than average, but being worse is hard to do. |

That ST player of the month award would beg to differ. Successful onside kicks are HUGE. |

McAfee has been nothing short of masterful this season. He's having a pro bowl type year. The Colts look like they're third in the league for opponents average starting field position through week 5: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestats Edited by AustinColtsFan79, Oct 11 2014, 11:38 AM.

Yeah, but Hunter ran down Deion Sanders on a punt return. We should replay that moment on the big screen every time Deion comes around. Classic. |

Hunter also scored a TD off of a fake FG, and was the team's emergency QB. Hunter was talented. |

McAfee does so many things for us which end up giving us good field position for our "D". Not only his punts but also his kick offs. I'm still looking us to give him a try at a 65 yard FG. I'm also a Hunter Smith fan so don't make me choose. |

I'd be curious to know if Pat made the decision to go for the onside kick based on what he saw, or if the coaches made the decision. His onside kicks have been very helpful. |

I thought I heard on the radio that they have given Pat some leeway on making the decision himself if he sees it... could be wrong but I seem to recall that. |

Pagano was on a radio show this evening and commented that they practice certain things through the week based on how their opponent lines up and their tendencies. If they get the look that they are looking for and the other team reacts as they have in the past, they give him the green light to execute the kick if they have been successful with it in practice through the week. |
