There was some criticism when we gave up a pick for Davis and then when we signed Toler. With Toler hurt last year and Davis not playing great, the criticism was some what warranted. But, so far this year I would not trade those two for any other corner duo in the league. Both have been excellent all year. Also, how about a shout out to Sergio Brown starting in place of Landry?

Browns tackle on the RB in the flat is a play Landry would have not made. He had a very good game. Business as usual this year for Toler and Davis. Steve smith has gone off every game this season and was very quiet today. |

I agree with Rev but we did get pressure on Flacco. We had some pass rush and I thought Chapman had a good game. I couldn't follow him much but maybe others could rate his game for me. |

Agreed our corner play has been top notch this season. Also if Brown continues to play well over the next 3 games he may take Landry's spot for good. |

Saw Adams and Brown make more plays than Landry ever has, but we know how our organization sticks with players to a fault sometimes. Toler doesn't have the best footwork and hips for a corner, but he's got tremendous makeup speed. Really botched an easy tackle, though. |

What made it worse is that it was right after Hilton got knocked off the ball with no call. |

The only PI call they got right the whole game was the Davis PI. Every other one was wrong, and it wasn't even close. |

Toler is proving he's one of the best corners in the league when healthy. |

All I know is, after years and years and years of Colts corners getting burned repeatedly, and opposing QBs setting league records in completion percentage, its nice to have corners that can actually stay with opposing receivers. Now if we can just find a way to cover tight ends we'll be set. |

CB play has been exceptional so far this year & I will add Butler to the discussion. He, Davis & Toler make for a good nickle package. The two weaknesses of this 'D' have been the lack of QB pressure & the inability to cover TE's & RB's. Both of these were much better against the Ravens. If Brown continues to play at the level he showed Sunday, then I hope the coaching staff &/or Grigson will swallow their pride & leave him in the lineup. But it was only one game from a journeyman player excited for his opportunity. Let's see how the next 3 games go. Edited by rccolts, Oct 7 2014, 08:34 AM.

I know this was against the Ravens, so Pags had a little edge in game planning and there was a little more fire in the belly of our defense, but these corners have been making the whole defense look good so far. Giving the front a little more time to get to the QB, giving the safeties a little more freedom, etc. They're playing the way we all hoped they would. Like errsay said, keep on keeping on, guys. I'm really hoping his experience is paying off and it wasn't just a fluke. Might need to find a way to get Brown, Landry and Adams on the field at the same time. Could be a good way to take care of those TE's and RB's... Edited by BlueKoolaid, Oct 7 2014, 08:42 AM.

Getting Landry on the field doesn't seem to be an advantage for the Colts. Unless they do a Cato June and convert him to lb in hopes of beating out Jackson or McNary, I think we find an upgrade and let him walk. |

Brown is not really a journeyman. The only other team he's played for was the Patriots, where he was a starter for a brief time. Thought he was just going to be our special teams ace, but would be great if he can mature into a consistent starter. |

That is exactly what I was thinking. He's a hybrid type player. Use him to your advantage. He's a liability in coverage against quick WR's, but he can tackle and match up pretty well with most TE's and RB's. Switch him up between SS and LB and we can catch offenses off guard. |

I may have been using the journeyman term loosely, but it depends on your definition of journeyman. I was just referring to the fact that he is in is 5th season in the league & has never been a starter, but rather restricted mostly to S.T.'s. For a player to last 5 years without being a starter is a little unusual, this is what I was referring to as journeyman. |

Brown was playing with a little extra motivation. His father died of cancer 12 years ago to the day of the game when he was a high school freshman. His mother reminded him in a message before the game. He made a short speech to the team before the game about what it meant to him. |

He certainly made dad proud on Sunday. Very wise decision in re-signing him this past offseason. |
