It doesn't usually bother me, but it really got under my skin today how the announcers called the game. The Ravens defense was given accolades all game long while it was the Ravens offense that struggled (and not the Colts defense). Also, we would have done pretty well in the red zone had we kicked a field goal instead of going for a fourth and one (dumb call, imo) and not had a very questionable call go against Reggie that took away a touchdown. Yet they blabbered on about how good the Ravens defense was. They missed the part where we stopped them on a 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 and only gave up one touchdown. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that I heard them say "You know, the Colts defense has actually played well today.." You think? Very annoying. *Immature rant over* I was thrilled with our defense and our o-line, though. I can't believe we had a good o-line this year! Seems like forever since I've been able to say that! We made some very stupid mistakes today, none worse than Whalen (close second to Bradshaw struggling to gain an extra foot), but where that would have given us a L in years past our defense has been able to carry us through this year. Awesome feeling. And just so they don't feel left out - the non-call of PI on Hilton was ridiculous, and the PI on Toler was equally ridiculous. They also missed spotting the ball by giving the Ravens a full two yards on one pass play. I couldn't believe they left it there. Can't rant without including the referees. |

Were the announcers and refs paid off by the Ravens? Were the announcers and refs paid off by the Ravens? Edited by coltedge, Oct 5 2014, 06:59 PM.

stomach turned how much they drooled over the ravines and gave Indy credit for nothing until late in the game. no calls and phantom calls were horribly one sided today. |

At one point one announcer mentioned the Colts D, and the other guy just said "Eh" They just gushed over the Ravens D, when really we moved the ball very well all day, went for it on 4th on first drive, early snap on 3rd down killed another drive, 2 red zone interceptions on bad passes, a fumble in the redzone, add to this the fact that the Ravens were allowed to mug our WRs with no calls all game long and it really wasn't that impressive for the Ravens D. |

Maybe it is a good thing to just keep quiet about our "D". Just hope teams don't recognize it. |

I only caught the ending, but they were going on and on about the mentality Lewis and Reed instilled in Baltimore. They've been gone two years already and still receive praise for what's happening on the field. Weird. |

I was thinking the exact same thing when I heard that. How about the non-PI call against Wayne in the endzone on one of the early drives. The DB basically ran him over prior to the ball arriving & the announcer said the DB has a right to the ball & that it probably wasn't catchable (which was total BS). While the DB having a right to the ball is true they can't run through & knock down the WR to get it. This could just be my Colts bias, but it sure seems that the Colts always end up with the short end of the stick when it comes to the officiating. It cost us the Eagles game, & I would say the Colts won this game in spite of the officials. Edited by rccolts, Oct 7 2014, 08:20 AM.

Very true, rccolts. Any time a db comes through a receiver to defend the pass it is called PI. It happens all the time. The defenders right to the ball or to space only comes into play when the receiver tries to run over the db in order to run a route or get to the ball. I had forgotten about that play, but it was pretty ridiculous. |

I think the DBs right to the ball disappears when he runs over the receiver for the ball. If the receiver beats him there, its the receivers right to that spot. Its annoying as hell watching DBs knock our receivers to the ground all the time with no flag and then seeing ticky tack crap fly against our D. There were at least three highly obvious plays their DBs made on our receivers that were interference or at least holding. We dominated this game. The score board didn't indicate that, but we beat them in every aspect of the game. There were blatant calls/non calls as have been referenced. That was frustrating. The turnovers in the red zone, including the 4th down failure, cost us quite a few points. The score board said the game was close, but it really wasn't. I'd like to see us continue the Thursday night trend by demolishing the Texans this week. |
