If Luck was just mediocre would fans still root for Manning

I got to thinking how most Colts fans would feel if Luck turned out to be just average not the stud he is so far. Would the Colts fans who are still rooting for Manning have a tougher time pulling for him? I probably would have a harder time and might be wishing Irsay had paid Peyton the big bucks but hind sight is 20-20 of course. His injury didn't look good so I agreed with Irsay's decision not to keep Peyton.

I still don't like the Broncos which goes way back to when Elway was drafted by the Colts and refused to play for them and the trade was made with Denver.

I will root for Denver vs the Patriots and the Chargers and I guess my dislike for Elway has softened a little. Still don't like the way it turned out. I thought the Colts should have told Elway to play pro baseball and when he decided he wanted to play in the NFL it would have to have been in a Colts uniform.

There are people that still root for Peyton even though Luck is as good as he is, so of course there would be.

It's selfish, I admit, but I wish Peyton would retire. Know it won't happen and shouldn't, but I hate seeing him in Denver. I will say this, I wish Polian had made the effort Elway has to build a team around him, bringing in free agents.

I still pull for Peyton if I catch him on TV, but I'm a Colt fan. How well the guys we draft play really only affects how much cussing and throwing of sofa pillows happens on any given Sunday.

I just don't get how a COLTS' fan, unless the Broncos are playing the COLTS, would not root for Peyton.

That would seem unappreciative to me. The "What have you done for me lately" type of person.

All COLTS' fans are too high character people for that.

and that is FINE with me. I feel great about the chances of playing a playoff game in Denver. Peyton is not the same guy in the playoffs. He feels the pressure and if he struggles early in a playoff game he rarely recovers. There's really only one game where he was able to, and thats the greatest game in Indy Colts history.

I would feel really confident about playing the Broncos. Manning isn't a scrambling QB, they can't run the ball, and our corners could stay with their receivers. I think we'd beat them.

I still pull for Peyton, to a degree. I enjoyed watching him get the record the other night. I hate the Broncos though, so seeing them lose is nice. Seeing Peyton's fame tarnished by last year's SB though, bugged me.
For the record, I don't know that there is another team, at least in the AFC, that I don't hate. To many bad playoff memories going all the way back to the 80s when we lost to the Browns. And our old AFC east rivals.

I will always be a fan of Manning. I was glad to see him get the record but hate seeing him do it in another uniform. I wanted the Broncos to win because I wanted him to get the record in a win. I want the Colts to gain home field throughout. To do that, Colts need to continue to win and Broncos need to lose. That's what I want. I wish colts would have won super bowl against the saints and I wish Denver would have won last year and Peyton would retire. I could never root against Peyton unless he's playing the Colts. How Andrew plays has no bearing on my Fandom for Peyton. I didn't want the colts to release Peyton. I'm glad we have Andrew. This must be how a bigamist feels.

Elway would have played for the Colts and not played baseball. That was just a bluff. Irsay, the drunk idiot, was the one who pulled off the trade. The GM didn't even know about it until the deal was done. IF the the GM, I believe it was Ernie Accorsi at the time, had his way, Elway would have been a Colt.

But back to the topic at hand... I will always root for Peyton to do well - unless it's against us - he pulled the franchise out of the gutter and brought a winning attitude to the organization it hadn't had since before the drunk idiot Irsay traded franchises with Rosenbloom.

Yup. I'll always cheer for Manning. Yes, it hurts to see him set these records as a Bronco, but in the end, I'm cheering for Peyton, not the Broncos.

Even when we played them this season and last, whenever he got sacked, I winced. I don't want to see him get hurt because in my heart, he is still a Colt.

After he threw the record setting TD pass this past weekend, during either an interview or the press conference, he thanked all the people that helped him, both on the Colts as well as Broncos and as well as college. He mentioned the Colts and for that, it shows that he still thinks of the Colts organization as a very important part of his life and he hasn't forgotten that.

A Colts fan that wouldn't openly root for Peyton? Really? He was cut. He didn't leave for greener pastures. He along with Dungy and Polian brought instant credibility to a struggling franchise, while elevating it to a gold standard in the process. Losing the SB to the Saints surely hurt, life goes on. No complaints how things have turned out either...

I don't root for him because I don't root for players that do not play for the Colts. I don't even really watch any non-Colts games, tbh. I wish they'd find a way for every other team to lose. I don't root against him, but I'm not buying Manning jerseys and ordering extra Papa John's pizza because I love him so much.

I am likely totally nuts, Like you all didn't know that already, But I would rather play Denver in Denver than in the Dome during the playoffs, I think adverse weather would play more towards the Colts favor in that matchup. Give me wind, Cold and playoff pressure in that matchup and I like the Colts chances, Manning in the Dome would not be an ideal situation in my eyes.

Manning and co. didn't exactly kick butt against SD and Pitt in the dome, or against SD in the pleasant weather of Southern California. I do like our current - non-Polian-influenced defense - better in the cold though, or any weather for that matter. And yes, I do blame Polian for pretty much every short coming of the Peyton-era Colts. He deserves some credit, absolutely, but also the blame for 2-14 and Peyton leaving. Some would reverse that and thank him for giving us Luck. That was by chance. The man's arrogance was a hinderance for far too long.
