Why I am glad I kept my mouth shut

I couldn't believe how little we ran the ball. I was so frustrated in the first half as we constantly threw the ball, never even attempted to run. Then I began to understand what a good game plan this was as I learned more about the Giants secondary woes. We didn't even act like running was a priority, but just knew a weakness and exploited it. I was glad I was wrong. It was a solid shift in our mentality of imposing our will on the defense towards just doing what works.

Other thoughts:
The right side of our o-line is where most of our worries came from last night. Too many breakdowns and poor exchanges on stunts. Hopefully Thornton will be back, but even then it is still a concern as Cherilus continues to get beat on speed rushes.

Our pass defense is still a concern. Toler and Davis are solid, but even the best can be beat if the qb has too much time to throw. We pretty much admitted last night we don't have a pass rush with our front four. We are vulnerable to double moves and tight ends/rbs releasing in the open. The Pats will kill us if we don't improve this.

Chapman and Kerr continue to improve. Montori Hughes was even showing something the last couple games. Newsome looks unorthodox to me, but he makes plays so I'm not complaining at all.

What is up with Luck in the first half? His accuracy seems to improve exponentially in the late first half and second half, but is off at the beginning of each game.

i saw what you saw in luck as well. i think it was just a matter of getting comfortable within the game. Last year, we couldn't score in the first half at all. This year is the exact opposite so i'm loving the improvements. Luck may have a few accuracy moments every now and then, but he's a bad-ass and i'm always confident he'll get his share of throws in there. you have to admit our first half offense is a million times better this year

I am really puzzled why Thornton was a healthy scratch last night and we placed Louis instead. That seemed weird to me and he didn't have a good game.

I don't understand why Gosder is struggling like he is. He was our best lineman last year but he is probably our worst this year. I do think the left side is much better this year with Mewhort and Castonzo is playing well.

We still have to improve the pass blocking though. Luck is getting hit wayyyy too much (most in the league) and I think THAT is why he struggles with accuracy so much. You could tell he was rattled on some of those plays last night and that resulted in some of those passes that were off.

We still should mix in more run plays, I think. At one point Luck had thrown 30 passes to, I think, 5 rush attempts for the team. I get exploiting the other team's weakness, but we had some close calls turnover wise, so we have to be more balanced against better opponents.

Cherilus is a bit dinged. Louis and Harrison were fairly awful last night, especially v.s. blitz assignments. Way too much confusion. Teams are gonna blitz us to death until things get straightened out, which means more hits on Andrew. Not good. Newsome and Kerr have been steals...
