Pagano says it's a conditioning thing. I think that's just a PC way to say he's being benched. Looks like the team has lost confidence in Landry though. If he never wins back his starting gig, I can't help but think there's no way he's still on the team next season. http://www.colts.com/news/article-1/LaRon-Landry-To-Play-Not-Start-Against-Patriots/4b5ab74e-ec84-4ef2-a42a-dad7aaf1f957 |

I wouldn't be hurt if he wasn't on the team next year, although I think other teams might find a way to utilize him better than we do. Sergio Brown isn't the answer at safety either. Mike Adams has been a pleasant surprise and an upgrade over what we had in Bethea last year, imo. |

Could be he's nursing an injury they want to keep quiet. If Brown is officially replacing him, why not just say it? Also could be an excuse to keep seeing how things go with Brown, and if he has another bad game (Steelers), maybe you make a change. Also could be a way of acknowledging that Landry will play more on run downs and against run-focused teams. Another possibility, although I think it's less likely, is that Landry is having conditioning problems because he's no longer taking PEDs. |

I don't think there are any secrets or anything, Brown has played better since taking over as the starter than Landry ever has as a Colt. They are being nice to him (though I'm not sure why) by not admitting he lost his job. I'm sure Landry will see some time on run downs, goal line packages, but he is the back-up now, deservedly. |

I know hes bad in coverage, but I like what someone mentioned before. Bring him in on big third downs as a LBer and let him run with the TE or RB. Hes bound to be better at it than any LBer we have. |

I think they actually draw more attention to the fact he's being replaced by not just making it official and moving on. |

Landry is gone after this season They will not pay that much for back up Also we will save money on cap if we let him go after this season His ego is bigger than his play. He has been a big dissappointment Safety will be high on our off season list In 2015 we would save $1.4 million against cap by cutting Landry In 2016 we would save $6.0 million against cap Landry might be with us next year but not 2016 But his performance and lack of being with team in off season, suspension, etc., i think he is not back next year Edited by cedjss, Nov 12 2014, 01:47 PM.

Since cedjss brought up salary cap, can anyone give me an idea of where we stand in the upcoming offseason? |

Landry on special teams should be fun. Not sure he is that good at it, but it'll be fun to see him hit someone with an 80 yard running start. |

Time for Landry to make an impact. Read where he will be in on certain packages, both in short yardage and shadowing Gronk. Glad to see Manusky heed my advice. |

Who else do we have that can cover him? Our LBs are too slow, most of our corners too small. Not sure I'd even count on some of our corners to stay with him. |

There is no one person in the NFL that can cover a healthy Gronk. The best you can do is bracket him and hope to slow him down with scheme. Although our defense is especially terrible at covering down the middle, so this should be fun. |

No free release for Gronk! I think the Pat's o-line will stonewall our front four. We have to blitz to get pressure. We can double cover Gronk, but Davis, Toler, and Butler will have to cover 1 on 1 for us to succeed. Plus, can we please cover the back out of the backfield this time? Or just smack him as he comes through the line. |

Walden says he's gonna play, so he needs to pop Gronk at the LOS and then Landry along with occasional Safety help should be the best plan going forward. If their other guys beat us fine, but if Gronk catched 10 passes for 150 and 3 TD's, I'll be pissed. |

Containing Gronk IS the best hope. Coverage should always roll towards him. Force those wide receivers to beat us. Easier said than done obviously. |

Vontae's absence was no help either. Gordy was toasted. |
