He is back on the practice squad. No one picked him up. I didn't realize he was even still eligible for PS. This has to be his final year of eligibility.

I heard that other teams expressed interest but not enough to get him to sign.

I heard that other teams expressed interest but not enough to get him to sign.
From the article I posted above:

... a handful of teams called and expressed mild interest once he became a free agent, the source said. Ultimately, none offered Whalen a contract, leaving him available to re-join the Colts.

Forget returning. Get him involved in playing more in the slot. He somehow gets open and catches the ball. Also seems to have chemistry with Luck.

Glad he's on the P.S. He can compete with Wayne for the #3/#4 spot next year. Like what's been said, he ain't a returner, but he could still be a decent WR option for us.

I'd like to see us find another receiver option behind TY and Moncrief. Reggie will likely be around at least one more year, but not sure. If he thinks he will be a third option, he might choose to retire.

Whalen is fine for depth deeper on the depth chart, but I don't see any reason to think he's going to get better. He's had three years to work his way up the depth chart.

Then he'll likely retire. I don't see him going anywhere else.

Moncrief did have a couple snaps more than Nicks.. I think it was like 30 to 26 or something.

Probably worth nothing though that despite his recent struggles, Reggie is on pace for 80 receptions this year and right around 1,000 receiving yards.

Probably because he isn't struggling as much as people are making him out to be. In the past three weeks he had two of his best games statistically this season. Which included two 40+ yard receptions. Yeah, he had trouble getting open against one of the top 5 corners in the league (still had 91 yards on 5 receptions), then put up a dud of a game against the Jags. Otherwise he has been productive outside of the Bengals game where he injured his arm. He isn't playing as well as he did last year, but that is unsurprising considering he is coming off a major injury. At his age it isn't a given, but not out of the realm of possibility that he will actually be a better player next year one more year removed from the injury.

I'll be really surprised if Reggie doesn't come back with a somewhat reduced role and a reasonable price tag. He'll be a fantastic slot receiver, he'll be another year removed from his knee rehab(second year back is usually when you are fully functional again), and he'll be able to chase some of those all time numbers while retiring a Colt.

Some people I think forget that he was willing to take less money and come back to a team he thought would be rebuilding from scratch with what he knew was going to be his last real payday because he was loyal to the franchise. I just can't believe that Irsay and Grigson would not remember that and make sure he has every opportunity to play until he's done and retire here.

It will be Reggie's call. I for one, think that his knee will be in better form next year and so will his speed.

Am I missing something? I saw Reggie open several times and Luck totally miss him when wide open--in the Jags game. Reggie is still Reggie.

Reggie is still Reggie - just with a limp.

Reggie isn't what he was, but he's still producing. I think the bigger issue is that we have a potential star receiver on the way up in Moncrief, so that's going to press the issue as to how much Reggie plays.

I believe he can talk to teams starting then but can't sign until Feb.

As per NFL rules, given the nature of Carter’s contract, he can begin negotiating with and working out for NFL clubs on Dec. 1, per an NFL Management Council source, but can't formally sign a contract until February.

This was from the link I posted last week:

I thought CFL players always had to wait until the NFL off-season. Don't know though.
