We have a lot of work to do to get there, but with the way the Broncos are playing right now, the number two seed in the AFC and the bye are very much up for grabs. Hopefully, Miami can hold on and beat Denver.
Well, so much for that idea. Broncos got hot.

I have no idea why teams always go away from what works.

The Dolphins were disguising blitzes the first few possessions. Crowding the line and rushing a guy and dropping the rest back, but never tipping their hat as to which guy was coming.

They get a lead and, just like everyone else Peyton has struggled against, they quit doing that. They continually sent a base 3 man rush at Peyton and he destroyed them for it. It blows my mind when I think about how well it works against Peyton and how teams think they can just stop and cover all 30 of his receivers.

If teams do that all game long, I like our chances at the 2 seed.

Yeah, I really doubt we can realistically get the #2 seed unless Denver or NE tank the last few games and we win out. They both beat us so we have to be one game ahead of either or them to be the #2 seed. I am guessing we will be the #3 seed. We have beaten Cincinnati and Baltimore. We need to beat Cleveland and hope for Pittsburgh to go down hill like they do every year toward the end. My prediction is if we beat Cleveland we will be the #3 seed. The AFC North is such a tough division right now and it is a close race.

Broncos are struggling right now though and I can't help but wonder if the Patriots got hot a little too early. We'll see. Either way, they probably are 1 and 2, but could be very beatable in the playoffs. Our O-line has to improve and our D has to do what it did today against good offenses.

Based on a very limited understanding, and no real knowledge of practices and what goes on during them, I still feel the need to express an opinion about our coaching. I just feel like much of our struggles on our o-line and d-line have been because of coaching and conditioning. To my naked eye we are one of the slowest teams off the snap on both sides of the ball. It drives me crazy when our d-line lines up 1 yard off the ball because they still don't get any momentum going before they engage to opposing teams o-line. And on run plays this just means we give up the first yard to them before the ball is even snapped. On defense, we have focused on beefing guys up to 350lbs, but I believe it has resulted in them losing some explosiveness.
Our o-line always engages on our side of the los, run or pass. We get zero push because we lose the momentum battle. I believe this is partially due to technique and coaching. Other players have gone on to be more effective in other systems. Right now I believe that Pollak, McGlynn, and Satele are all part of effective o-lines on other teams.
Granted, these are sweeping statements and there are instances where they may not prove true, but I just wonder about this in general. I would love to try some different coaches/approaches in the trenches.

I don't know about the D-line. I've been pretty happy with Hughes, Kerr and Redding this year. Others, far less so, but we have some guys with potential to be great.

RJF has been playing well this year too. Chapman and Jones have been disappointing though.

Jones has shown me nothing to date, and I wanted him badly. I realize the injury bug has bitten him, but let's go Arthur. Chapman is a zero.
